There has been an issue since 1st July. Why the 10-day wait?
No upload possible since days and today the GS crashed after pressing the publish button. One of my games is broken since the update to 0.95 and now crashed GS and runs with my work against a wall. Since months I need the pro version, but GS have so many bugs, I won't spend 500$ to support this. Sorry guys, but a software with bugs is not unusual and I can live with bugs anyway, so far someone declared in a open buglist what happens and with wich priority the bugs processed and a timetable for maintainance or change gameserver software.
Dear GS-Team, you have a responsibility against your customers and please keep in mind we are not all hobbyists and do this here 'not only' just for fun. Communcation shoud be the key and not the bad feeling after double crossed fingers publish button clicked. Be professional and communicate with us.
And btw I agree 100% with photics regarding the Gameserver/X-Code issue. It's really time-consuming to upload bigger projects to the gameserver (assuming it runs), The general question is, why uploading the whole project (incl. all assets) to a gameserver, why don't generate a hash from all the stuff and work with a signing key, so you can sign the work and check the license from the user.
Sorry again, but this black-box-no-communication-thing makes me despair. I invest +1500$ for art an animations, ready to invest further 500$ for the pro version and can't work with the issues above. I send a mail to bugs@gamesalad.com regarding my app with the 0.95 update error and here nothing, no even a we received your mail, someone here will check this, or sorry, it may take a little longer.
Another thing IMO is the HTML5 stuff. Please make GS stable and don't start a new publishing branch before the core publishing worked.
About me. Working with GS since Feb.2011 and love the quick development with GS. I have a strong development background, I am a developer from germany since >15 years, I am a certified microsoft professional developer and starting with X-Code in 11/2010. I played with several Frameworks like coronna, Cocoa etc. and come to the conviction GS is Ideal for prototyping games and for developing 2D Games quick and not so dirty Actual I believe I am losing my time advantage in developing against the waiting for bug killing.
Hard words, but this is my opinion after waiting and hoping so far for a better working GS, and yes, I am frustrated
perfectanswer said: [M]ake GS stable and don't start a new publishing branch before the core publishing worked.
Here, here. Every decent developer and project manager knows that you must achieve stability before adding major features. Features are useless without stability.
We completely understand everyone's frustration with this situation. Our web team has been working all night to correct this issue and we hope to have a solution soon.
We apologize for the problems this issue has caused everyone and we are working as fast as we can to rectify the situation.
I understand that you are all working hard on that issue and understand that you need time for that.
May the Force be with you!

I get everyones frustration, but we are using beta software. And a $500 membership is plenty of money to be upset about. But again…It's beta. I haven't invested in the Pro Membership yet because of this fact, otherwise I'd probably be plenty upset too.
Should someone be upset that they are losing tens of dollars a day because of the server issue not allowing you to publish?…absolutely. Should you be upset that beta software is experiencing bugs and glitches and down time?…absolutely not.
$500 membership is only for the software, there's something called cost of opportunity. meaning everyday we are not able to publish we are loosing money not being able to generate more income, or time we spend fixing bugs we could use to generate income, even if i work in mcdonald i'm making money hourly. I hope you guys understand the costs that's involved. I keep seeing people saying that we are in beta version. Most beta version doesn't cost a cent to compensate for the bugs that the beta testers have to deal with, heck beta testers are usually paid for their time spend on the games.
I appreciate the GS team reporting the status to us, but please do understand like the previous post stated, GS is also obligated to provide what they provided to paid members. I can't stress enough we are not talking about a charity organization here, GS is a for profit organization.
So thank you for all of the love you guys have for GS and defending, but sometimes, enough is enough. let's just have our fingers crossed and hope for the best. We got to know what we are defending against or we end up being slaughtered... historically speaking, if you are defending the wrong king you end up going down with them, but if you are wise, you would suggest your king to do the right thing and not defending them for everything that's done incorrectly.
Again, I love this platform and will do my best to support it, but I won't defend errors regardless of the situation. having said that, thank you again GS dev team for the all-nighter that you guys have been pulling for us, and when the problem is fixed please get together and think about how you will love us back as royal supporters through hard times as such.
To all the complainers, let's stop stressing them out, people don't work well under pressure I think they get the idea.
To all the defenders again, yes it says beta, but its not really beta since they are charging, and some of the products google offer is still in beta and yes they do get bitched at even thought google never charges a cent. So let the complainers do what they need to do because if no one ever complain we'll stay in prehistoric age forever, and as a platform we need to all progress together.

It's not as simple as 'it's beta software so there's bound to be problems'.
That's true, but how are they handling it? People pay according to time, and they only patch serious bugs once a month or less often.
This month I've lost a month of membership, hundreds of sales, and many hours of my own time trying to fix things... but they're in no rush to get the bug fixes out to us.
Aside from that I've been waiting 18 days for tech support and the publishing servers haven't been working well.
So I'm not upset that there are bugs. I'm upset that it takes so long to patch them, that I'm paying for this time, that I can't get support, and that I frequently can't publish.
GS, this is a great product and I know you work hard on it, but please, please don't make us wait so long to patch bugs that were fixed weeks ago.
SlickZeroHouston, TexasMember, Sous ChefPosts: 2,870
Well damn. I've beta tested all kinds of software, and not once was I compensated. I'm currently beta testing iOS 5, iTunes, Xcode, Lion and SWTOR. Haven't been paid one cent, ever. Maybe I'm testing for the wrong people…
I don't think it's us against GameSalad, we don't need to defend ourselves against them. And your king reference is oh so very true, but I think some people are going beyond suggestions to the king, and are straight up biting the hand that feeds them.
I know people are tired of hearing that the software is in beta, and just don't accept that fact. They say they want to know what is the deal, and don't give them "it's beta" B.S. but the fact of the matter is, it's beta…It's like saying…"I want to know why this vanilla ice cream tastes like vanilla, and don't give me that "It's tastes like vanilla because it has vanilla in it" B.S. either"
The fact that they charge for beta is not something I agree with 100% but I don't have a pro license yet…again, because it's in beta. That's my personal decision. Other peoples personal decision was to pay for it. And like I said, I can totally understand being upset about that.
lol... no it's more like... you said I can try your experimental vanilla ice cream if I pay up, now that I paid, the ice cream machine is broke.. and we have to wait in line for it to get fixed up... can't go anywhere, but in line... and no refund and no free ice cream... and it's summer time... (if you'd like. vanilla metaphorically speaking)
edited: * extra special experimental ice cream if you pay up.
hint. GS should send all their members free ice cream to cool us down.
SlickZeroHouston, TexasMember, Sous ChefPosts: 2,870
Ah…But they didn't say that you had to pay to try the experimental ice cream. The ice cream is free. They said you had to pay if you want "sprinkles". And yes, the ice cream machine is broken, so what good are the sprinkles…:P
But seriously, they are working on fixing it according to Yoda's posts. Maybe they have something in mind for the Pro users once they get it fixed, maybe not. But it is stated clearly in the T.O.S….
GAMESALAD DOES NOT GUARANTEE, REPRESENT, OR WARRANT THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES OR SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, AND YOU AGREE THAT FROM TIME TO TIME GAMESALAD MAY REMOVE THE SERVICES OR SITE FOR INDEFINITE PERIODS OF TIME, OR CANCEL THE SERVICES OR SITE AT ANY TIME, WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU.

I didn't do the caps, it's like that in the T.O.S.
Edit: Ever since that South Park episode "Human CentiPad" I read everything before clicking "Agree".
I have to say that as a Pro member, what was most frustrating was not hearing anything back from GS for days. Pro is supposed to include "Priority Technical Support"- but I didn't get a reply to my email. The only way to get any news was to log in to the forum.
Despite what the TOS says, this type of downtime will cause customers to look at different products. I know it certainly has me looking elsewhere.
Come to think of it, I've never heard of anyone charging for beta software. The fact that there is a paid pro membership for a beta software is a bit dodgy to the extent that I regret paying for it myself as I'm sure I'll be moving to a different tool after my one and only GS game hits the App Store.
Just confirmed with QA, the fixes are live! We've made adjustments to the server that seem to have resolved the issues people were having with publishing and things should be good to go.
That said, we will be maintaining a VERY close eye on the servers throughout the day in case anything got missed.
Thank you, everyone, for your patience and understanding while we resolved this issue. We understand that many of you experienced significantly inconvenient delays and we're working on something to compensate for that.
For now, it we seem to be fully back in business. So, please, publish away!

Thank you soooooo much, i am extremely happy right now, even though the servers are very slow right now, i would imagine it would be that way because now everyone is trying to publish there games. Thanks again, Logan

Wonder what that compensation could be Great news Yoda. Thanks to you and the Dev Team for making this fix!

But it's still currently lacking the support for iPhone development and detractors well scream about it being Flash based. But I've evaluated the tool for a while and it's pretty damn good. A bit tougher to use than GS and it doesn't have nearly the same kind of community support that GS has. Depending on how well the games perform on the iPhone once that becomes available and how much it will cost, it could be a better option than GS.
I personally am looking at higher end solutions like the Unreal UDK and Unity, I'm a 3D guy traditionally so I'm itching to get into 3D games.
I tried to publish my old app but no respond. Is there still trouble with publishing server? It's been ages since I open gamesalad last time... and now everything seems changed... So I'm not sure what's the reason of this problem... Um...
Thank you so much for your patience with our server issues these past couple of days. After resolving the fixes yesterday, it came to our attention that large size projects were still failing to upload. This is an issue that we are still continuing to work on. We will be posting updates as soon as we receive them from our development team.
Again, thank you for your patience and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks for the update Lauren. I am one of those people this bug is still affecting. chrisTOFU has been helpful in trying to resolve this issue. I hope it is something that can be fixed soon.
