Favorite Game is hard to pin down there are a few console games I will buy every sequel that comes out. Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, and Grand Theft Auto.
But older games I loved MArio 64 and Golden Eye. And mobile Games the one I play over and over is Bounce the Bullet Pro
I guess i'm one those people who cant make a decision LOL
The Journeyman Project series. Runners up would be Full Throttle, Dark Seed and both Rebel Assaults! All were CD Roms for the Mac back in the day. Anyone remember the black and white Prince Of Persia? That was so great too.
Not in any particular order but these all come to mind... Halo 3 Super Mario Bros (NES) Greatest Heavyweights (sega genesis) Star Tropics (NES) Zelda (N64)
The replayability on all these games never got old.
But when I was about 18, a friend of mine who worked on a UK TV show (The Big Breakfast) managed to nab a promo copy of Bust a Move/Puzzle Bobble 2 on the PS1.......and I played it TO DEATH.
Me and my flatmate once had an 8hr marathon head to head. )
Other than that. Super Mario Kart is still just as playable now as it was back then...graphics have not stood the test of time of course, but it's such a great game, single or multiplayer.
I still enjoy Donkey Kong Country on the SNES too.
Cant really pick a favorite but if one game made me realize how cool games were was when I could dive off a cliff into a pool of water in tomb raider (that and fighting th T-Rex). Awesome cool.
Like JamesZeppelin I can't just pick one so I'll cheat a bit and pick a few. Mass Effect 2 Alan Wake StarCraft 1&2 Warcraft 3 Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Team Fortress 2 KoTOR
Hmmmm That's a hard one. LOZ: Ocarina of time is the BEST game I've ever played in the history of my life. While Half-Life 2 is frakking amazing aswell... aand Pokemon Red was the most fun I've had as a child... It's impossible to pick
I don't know if I have a favorite game of all time.
Is it Street Fighter II? No, because the original version is terrible now. Yes, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is one of my favorite games, but is it my favorite game of all time? I don't know
Do I say Halo? Again, the original version is starting to show its age. Also, if it was really my favorite game, I'd have it on my Mac... but I don't feel like running boot camp or paying $100+ for a used version.
Super Mario Bros?! Again... there are too many versions. The newest one "New Super Mario Bros Wii" is probably my favorite of the Mario series. I really liked Super Mario World, but that game is ancient now... as is Super Mario 64. That game did not age well at all.
Mega Man II is one of my favorite games, but it's just not the same once the game is beaten. And with Mega Man 9, nostalgia is clearly not what it used to be.
However, I could answer the question if it was worded slightly different. My best gaming moment...
#2 - On Pendragon, the test server of Dark Age of Camelot, I lead a two-day relic raid. (It started on Saturday and ended on Sunday.) Despite a Midgard/Hibernia double team, I personally carried home two relics. A lot of great players were involved in this raid. It was organized chaos!
#1 - I lead a 1000 player Guild Wars alliance to take over Cavalon. To do that, we had to be the best Luxon guild in the world. It was incredibly competitive. Rival players actually infiltrated our guild, just so they could spy on us. They even listened in to our conversations on Team Speak. Guilds would team up in the hopes to be the best alliance, so you had to show that your guild was the strongest. This transcended the game. There was trash talk on fansites and in the game. It insane... but we won.
And when we won... we didn't succumb to elitism. We shared the spoils with everyone. By being the best alliance, you would gain access to a special dungeon. Other alliances felt that they should keep that to themselves. I said no. I didn't like elitism and many players felt that they should have access to the content that they paid for. Players from all over the world were given access to "The Deep".
After three weeks of holding Cavalon, we finally lost control of the city. (I got a new job at the time, and I was getting bored of the game... that's why I can't say Guild Wars is my favorite of all time. I hate the game now.) But soon after, the developers changed the game. They had noticed our success and our rallying cry of anti-elitism. Today, it is no longer necessary to be in a top alliance to gain access to the two "elite" hunting areas. Other alliances may control Cavalon, but not many alliances can say they changed the game.
One of the most memorable parts was when a Korean player said, "I love The Crusaders". Even though it seemed that he could barely speak English, he knew about our guild. Our victory brought happiness to players all over the world. Jumping on Goombas just doesn't compare to that.
Our victory was documented by the developers in the first edition of "The Scribe".
Once I beat a game, it's no longer a challenge... so it's not as fun anymore. Even in MMORPGs, where the game is designed without an end, the content is limited. I set goals for myself and then I reach those goals... or the developers make changes that I don't like. As for puzzle games, it's basically the same thing. Trying to beat my top score can add some replay value to a game, but then it gets boring.
My favorite game of all time doesn't exist yet. It's the game that I make, that makes me successful.
I loved Big Little Adventure (not planet) and played it with my son for all of one Xmas when he was very young, but playing Quake for the first time on a LAN with 12 computers, a capture the flag level and a bunch of mates is my finest memory.
