But I find it entertaining how people like to take black and white issues and make them as grey and as confussing as possible. He had a contest. Someone won. What ever business is between them is between them. Next.... after contest he comes back with a " I'll purchase all other entries for 5$. Let me know if interested." You as a "non-winning submitter" have 3 choices. 1. Refuse offer. 2. Accept offer. 3 negotiate offer. Tens of thousands of people enter into tv/radio contests. Example: Funniest Home videos. Even though you send in a tape of something funny and you do not win. The entry tape becomes property of FHVs and can be used in future footage and episodes without any royalties to you. They state before hand all entries become sole property of FHVs. And no im not comparing apples to oranges. even though he didnt come out with some firm specifics to the guidelines and rules of his contest. You as a individual decide if getting into the contest "as is" is a good or bad thing. I personally do think he should have laid down some specifics before the contest to reduce confusion. But I dont think GS "SHOULD HAVE TO" intervene into this. We are all old enough and hopefully mature enough to see what we are stepping into and are willing to deal with. And if we have reservations then its our decision to jump into the fire or not. But dont comeback saying " I didnt know the fire might burn me" Ive got some ocean front property in arizona. Its yours for 500 Dollars. Any takers?
we didn't say that he should lay down specifics to reduce confusion, we as participants complained that he was demanding changes, and that's coming from the ones who participated. Take your example: Funnies Home video doesn't call you and say hey we don't take DVD's anymore send in a blue ray version , and calls again, hey we don't like dog videos, cats are in now... that's what we were complaining.. and i think it's reasonable. and most of us jumped out because we felt we were and our fellow friends were being taken advantage of. GS as should have intervened because this is a commercial website with the reputation of GS on the line, it's like that owner of your arizona ocean front property jump out and say hey don't start camp fire on my property, we don't do that around here...
and with all due respect, this is not a personal attack against you, just clarifying my own actions and intentions agains what seemed like shady business. and as a friend you are free to tell your buddies that hey the contest sounds like a fraud regardless .. rite? but anyhow let's drop it here there is at least a happy ending with this blue bird deal.
