@Tshirtbooth I agree, they would make more money if they just dropped pro and charged everyone like $200 then everyone would share the cost of gamesalad and not just the pro users. It would cut down on the rip offs too because you would have to pay to get a username. Then they should have a 30 day trial version just like all other companies.

It would also make the GameSalad game standard better, so we could be proud to make our games in GameSalad!

I agree with tshirt about paid publishing.

And BTW, I think that this guy stole Leonard's icon for game in Arcade, not App Store.

I agree about paid publishing even $10 a year, would help to keep spam and crap like this out
(Not too much of a high price though....
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
This is only in the arcade as far as I know!... But this is the second time I found one of my apps being copied...
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
I think drop pro, and make everything "$100" a year to compete with stencil...
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
Back to subject, If this app is in the arcade and I want my icon to be removed from the arcade and for this person to get a warning for doing this how do i contact GS??
  • SAZ_1SAZ_1 Member Posts: 397
Nah, i think dropping pro will have negative effects for GS, but having a pay to publish would be good... as in have both... so if your pro you can publish all you want... if you are not pro then you have to pay to publish and make it reasonably steep .. say $20 (thats steep considering i only made like £50 for Fowl Ops. :P) or so.

    @saz_1
I don't think $20.... Perhaps maybe $10 pay per publish.... And no Pro
So $10 per publish for no pro features (not including updates)
$50 per app for pro features (Including unlimited Updates)
  • SAZ_1SAZ_1 Member Posts: 397
leonard on the bottom of the page report a bug... and select the other option and email them thats should do it!

yea actually that does sound good i'd pay $50 to publish my game for pro features... that way as well if one year your development cycle is slow or your not making as many games it don't cost too much ... no worries :)
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
    Yes I love this idea:
So $10 per publish for no pro features (not including updates)
$50 per app for pro features (Including unlimited Updates)

you should just send that to them as well as an idea they could consider to improve GS .. im actually liking it from a developer perspective.. not sure how much of a hit/ improvement Gamesalad themselves would take though

Im actually changing the name of this thread to Gs pricing redo?? & Copyright infringement prevention

Hi Leonard, maybe as the pro members are paying for GSC anyway, it should be the other way around, what do you think?

i.e $50 (or maybe $30) for non pro users and $10 for pro. That way there's more incentive to buy pro...

but leonards point is about scrapping the pro fee altogether... that way the additional features like iAds remove splash screen will cost you more if you want it.... i kinda lost the thread when the name changed lol!

yeah but for me...i have 15 years old and i can't spend much money.... :) but i like the idea of gyroscope 10$ for pro include game center and in app :)
  • ultimaultima Member, PRO Posts: 1,207
how about a pay for the features you need package =) i got no use for iAd.

I hate to say it but I think paid only publishing is a good idea.

I don't think GS would do that though as they'd lose all their millions of crappy 2 year old wannabe games spreading the GS Splash Screen.
Sorry to sound abrupt but I feel for LD here!

Should be $50 to publish per game if you're not a Pro Member or something.

I already over pay for the damn pro ! If $500 doesn't cover everything then heck. I can buy way better software and own it for less. Let the free people pay but leave the pro alone we already pay through the nose! And @Leonarddeveloper you cheap bastard buy pro already!I've seen how you live you can afford it with that fancy spread of yours. I'm tired of subsidizing Thermo Apps...LMAO
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
No my idea is 50 per publish with all pro features instead of pro...
20 per publish for non pro with no pro features
Not 50 on top of 500....
I'm talking about pay ore publish instead of pay annualy

As many of you know it used to be $100 minimum to use gamesalad and $2000 for pro. I think its fine the way it is, although maybe they should charge something instead of it being completely free to help keep just any clown from messing stuff up.

Imho, I think that GS wanted a piece of the huge profits some developers were making. I think they felt that if a developer using there program could make hundreds of thousands, they should get a cut. Which is why they tried to do GS direct, which was making everyone publish under GS's account with apple. This way if a game exploded huge, they would get some of that. Thankfully this failed, but left GS wondering how else they could take GS from a moderate user base to the next level. Making GS free was their answer. Of course the GS user base exploded with free users and now they lowered the pro price and are trying to get people hooked on GS and then upgrade to pro. I thinks its a great business strategy. It's basically like freemium games on the appstore.

Overall its great for the future of GS for two reasons. It will help keep GS making awesome pro features to give the huge free user base a reason to upgrade, and I think it will make more money for GS and keep them in business, which is great for all of us.

There is nothing more soul crushing than to put so much time and effort into learning something only to see it has gone open source and will no longer be supported or updated. It makes you want to give up. GS is growing by leaps and bounds and I don't think this will ever happen to them, which makes me want to support GS all the more.

My speculation is when the strip out lua and release the new interface et... It will be sold as a standalone piece of software just like photoshop but with a rich marketplace to get product to use in your game.

    @fryingbaconstudios
Possible but as an SDK it would make more sense for an annual or pay per publish... Do you see any other SDk that is buy once...

No most are free and in beta they won't stay that way as things evolve. Trust me, all we are right now is glorified beta testers. Not that I am complaining, I love GS but think that we all know most on here don't rake in the money. The money for GS is in standalone and selling content.
  • LeonardDeveloperLeonardDeveloper Member Posts: 4,630
    Im thinking:
    - Pay per feature (Not really)
    - Pay per publish (yes please!)
    - No free ( Like stencil) (Not really)

I disagree, Gs is like any other SDK if you're app is good you make money, For example in the last 4 days of my gravity bounce app (Im not saying its good! :P Just proving a point) Ive had 72 downloads, Now for some thats not big but for me that is!, Im sure DBA and TSB make loads of downloads per day!, Look at people like FMG, Beefyclyro, They all make money!, Thats why I think pay for publish is good!
