Question about registering a new app in iTunes Connect

Hi, my first app, End of theEarth for the iPad has been in review for two and a half days now... I've been drumming my fingers so much, waiting for their answer, I've made them bleed.... ;-) Anyhow that's nothing to do with my question!

I've been working on my second project (an iPhone utility app) and this time around, for no reason really, I'd like to register the name with iTunes Connect before I mention it in progress posts, or ask questions about it.

I was told ages ago that if I make a new app in iTunes Connect, that it's then been registered, and so no one else can take that name.

I was also told how long iTunes Connect will keep this before the binary is uploaded, but it was so long ago, I've forgotten the answer! Any help appreciated, thanks.

Okay here is your answer and one other trinket Once you create your app and assign your app name, you have 120 days to delivery a binary. Also if you go to this page Apple has a info box that trends how long on average it is currently taking to get through the review process. Wow, 120 days --- I had in my mind that it was two weeks - more than enough time, thanks for the info, FBS; as well as telling me about the average review process time. I'll put plasters on my fingers now and be more patient! :-)

yeah most people don't know that Apple posts that information about the review times and you need to get Skype.

I've signed up with Skype; can it be used for messaging only, or do I have to use the camera so everyone can see my ugly mug? (Dave the Naïve strikes again....) ;-) (i look quite awful on the Mac camera... (not quite as bad off-camera though... haha! I'm totally unphotogenic...)

P.S Thanks for the link as well, FBS; I didn't realise there are as many stages as that.

Also before the 120 days expire just upload a binary and the reject it and that should reset the count.

Dave no you don't you can choose talk or IM or video and even share screens. My Skype name is my GS name so hit me with an invite.

OK, I'll take the plunge and check out Skype beyond my registering! I'll do that tomorrow, if that's OK, when I'm a bit more awake and I'll send over an invite, thanks. :-)
