Hi, GS dudes.
I have made an app and put my device to test, and found out that have loading icon at the bottom of the right side. It is indicated whenever change scenes even though it doesn't have lots of contents in the page. How do I remove this?

Then, that means every apps made by gamesalad have loading indicator?

Yes however you can try make it all on one scene or add a image when the loading symbol is there saying Loading...

Yes that is true every app published using GameSalad for any platform will have a loading indicator. Unless if your game is relatively small you can make it all in one scene so you only have an original loading time and then you can change the coordinates of the camera to simulate the changing of scenes.

Yeah, why GS won't let go of the loading wheel is beyond me. It's not a critical issue, but it sure seems like an often requested one.

apple will reject an app if you don't show a loading indicator. a long time ago they forgot to implement the loading indicator on a few builds and it was horrible, it seemed like the app crashed every time it changes scenes.

it would be nice to customize the loading indicator with it's location, but there are soooo many more important things they need to do first.

To Remove Most Annoying Loading We Have To Wait For Native Code. I can see many users transfer to other software because of loading and memory usage issue.
For Now We cant publish quality games with GS.

that's not true, there are a ton of quality games with GS. the tool does not make the developer. a good developer can work wonders with a tool

That is one of the most absurd things ive every heard.

@jonmulcahy quality games means game reach to top 100 and steady their for long time. There is no potencial in GS Game for now only because of loading and memory issue. And users dont have time when GS remove LUA so moving to other softwares.
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
that;s not true at all. reading the top 100 is pure luck at this point. there are plenty of quality games that flop, and plenty of !@#$% games that make the top 100.

The secret of grisley manor made a ton of money when it was a GS app.

@JohnPapiomitis @jonmulcahy may be you are aware with this. I am telling you truth that its not possible to make 100 levels game and working smoothy with GS.

Im not silent because of my status, that has nothing to do with it and its kind of rude for you to say that.

The facts are theres been a bunch of gamesalad games in the top 100, and a bunch of gamesalad games with over 100 levels

@jonmulcahy I played your game on mac I know its good but not best. If we want to make good average game currently we have GS option.

@JohnPapiomitis are you joking? Give me list of 5 GS Games which are in top.
  • creativeappscreativeapps Member Posts: 1,770
GS is not place like people who wants to make game like tiny wings, jatpack joyride, cut the rope, ragdoll blaster 3 etc. Jatpack joyride template is available on darren site but I am talking about overall finishing and smooth game play and we can get that with native code only.

No im not joking, and if you took a minute to look instead of just pulling facts out of the air you would know too.

    Bumps made it to #18

Heres a list of ipad apps that made the top #100

#47 Picture Hunter HD by Tshirtbooth#51 Doodle Cannon HD by Crazybreadman#57 Tumble Blocks HD by Tshirtbooth#60 Go Ladybug, GO! by James Fletcher#62 Battle Pong by Eastbound#65 Red Block Remover 2 HD by Tshirtbooth#74 Jumpo! HD by bladeolson#79 Adrenaline Arcade by Butterbean#84 Magic Van Ride HD by James Fletcher#88 Tru3d Doodle Pad HD by James Fletcher#89 Kid Music Wonder by Butterbean#90 Wacky Circus Pinball HD by Chaser#94 Endless Apples 2 by Butterbean

Theres more, but you can take the time to look yourself.

No ones arguing with the fact that loading and memory usage in gamesalad isnt great, but your saying stuff that is not true.
  • creativeappscreativeapps Member Posts: 1,770
@JohnPapimitis These are may be good game but not great quality game. If we want to steady in Appstore top 100. We need quality games. I think you understand my point.
All I want to say that why GS taking so much time to remove lua and include native code? Its one of the major feature which will change the face of GS.

Other features are useless if we are still producing app with lua.

native code is not going to make bad developers better. it will help with performance, but a good game is a good game regardless of where it was built.
  • JohnPapiomitisJohnPapiomitis Member Posts: 6,256
Im not even gonna argue with you anymore. If your saying there not great quality games and that theres hasnt been any great quiality games in gamesalad you havent seen all of them or any of them. And staying in the top 100 is extremly hard no matter what you use, and has nothing to do with gamesalad.

And obviously redoing the engine is gonna take time and is not gonna happen overnight.

    @Creative

Can you share with us any examples of your games, which border on the epic, only held back by the limitations of GS?

Guess Pokemon yellow make it into the top 100 because of its quality :D
  • calvin9403calvin9403 Member Posts: 3,186
well, I don't know if there is any GS games in the top 100 for a long time

BUT games like angry birds can be made with GS, check out what Darren did

and the thing I can agree is the performance in GS is horrible

Maybe not, but it will mean I can make my bad games faster ! And the second best thing after a really well implemented game is a really bad game that loads really fast ! :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Nonsense, the load times are not the fastest around, but quality in game design is measured by what happens once the game is loaded, not how long it takes to load. I'd rather wait for 15 seconds to play a great game than wait 2 seconds to play a mediocre game.

Of course a great game and a fast loading time is even better . . . . but a slow loading time does not negate great game design. When (or if) GameSalad improve loading times don't expect the quality of your games to improve, just the loading times.

I laugh when I hear people who make Sh**ty games and blame the tool.. Get over yourself you make crappy games that's why they don't sell or you don't market them properly. This is like people who come on the forum and ask what drawing tool they used to make that great art..are you kidding me, it's not the tool but the artist. That's like asking Einstein what type of chalk he used on his blackboard to figure out the theory of relativity so you can too...Smarten up..lol

A poor game is a poor game, whether coded natively, with corona, game salad or any other sdk.
Loading time is annoying but it doesn't make a game crap.
Its not the tool, its the developer.
