So this is the new look to gamesalad, SSS?
  • scitunesscitunes Member, Sous Chef Posts: 4,047
Will there be directions on how to have a signature and how to turn them off? I'm not seeing vanilla settings anywhere, but maybe I'm just missing it.

@tshirtbooth - Go to your profile. On the right hand side you will see a tab called signatures. You can put whatever you'd like in there.

    Hope that helps,
    Bray

    I hate it :(
Yep, it's horrible, feels really confined, narrow, not even enough width to embed a YouTube video without the side being cut off. What is it with GS and the attraction towards unnecessarily tiny windows, as monitors size grow and become cheaper we are forced to work and communicate in tiny windows ! Why not make them scalable ?

I suspect whoever has designed this new iteration of the forum works on a Laptop.

P.S - I realise there area bunch of bugs and stuff to work out, but I couldn't log in all day.

Also, why on earth is there a Vanilla news feed on the right !? It's not really relevant to GameSalad and game making, it's like watching your Sony TV and having a little box in the corner updating you about Sony's warehouse stock level or distribution issues ? :))

    Weird.

I like it. Im on my phone though so I have not seen it not scaling to fill larger screens. I would like the moble site back though. But I imagine that is only temp off.

It looks as if someone forgot to attach a .css file to the site.

I think rather than a Twitter feed about the status of the company who make the forum software (a weirdly irrelevant inclusion) I suspect what the GameSalad user base would prefer is a Twitter feed about the status of the GameSalad platform - I don't much care that Vanillia is updating it's servers or running maintenance scripts, I'd prefer to hear about how the interpolate bug has been isolated or how the move to non-Lua code is going (etc).

Again, with a 'Who's Online' widget, it'd only be good if we could opt out of it and not be shown as online like if there was a chat widget.

@Tynan - I guess that's what they are going to do, they have just set up the Twitter box temporarily until they add the @Gamesalad feed.

That sound good, a GameSalad feed would be wonderful, communication from GS is pretty sparse at best, I think a Twitter feed, even if it only scraps of information, would be really appreciated by the users.

Are you planning another summer stalking campaign ? You know your restraining order doesn't run out until August don't you ?

I love the new forums! way better then the old one

@Tynan - I have a friend who knows the judges budgie pretty well, so that restraining order will be going bye bye before you can say 'infa-red binoculars'

P.S. I know how much grammar annoys you so I tried to edit Judges to Judge's but Edit isn't working.

Hmmm . . . . sounds like the 'naked in a bush with 400mm lens but insufficient evidence to prosecute' incident all over again.

@Tynan can I get a dyslexic exemption and wear a GPS anklet? LOL... FYI, I am really dyslexic and I do better than others on here...ouch.

Keep in mind there are several aspects that are currently "off" due to the formatting issues getting hammered out - other than simply hating it, what parts do you not like, @beefy_clyro ?
Yeh sorry about that mate, lack of any info on my behalf. I guess I was just frustrated that yet another thing was released from GameSalad, full of bugs and not working as expected. I appreciate the Vanilla problems didn't help, but it is that same feeling we get on a release of anything new, its software i understand to a degree!
Anyway, don't want to touch on that too much as thats not my main problem. 1st real problem is that i couldn't login for ages, had to keep going back to the main site where i logged in fine, then go round links until it took me to the forum signed in!
My main gripe is the look of the forums now. They look really condensed, not nicely formatted and that its the naked shell, like a theme still needs to be applied or something. Then theres the bugs that just make the whole thing seem worse.
Its got some nice touches, signatures and opt out, inbox, easier access to cookbook and marketplace (although the images are not appearing), twitter feed (although as pointed out, needs to be from GameSalad and not Vanilla).

Fair play Sir, an honest reflection. Lets just hope they sort it asap

Grammar criminals who are able to prove they are dyslexic (via a written test) will have their daily beatings reduced and receive extra cabbage soup.

    - but any positive thoughts on the new layout that need adjusting? (aside from the obvious editing and other issues)
I like the categories off to the side, when I use the forum on my computer. (Not so much on the ipad:)

Would it be possible to put the "announcements" as a category? That would reduce the amount of scrolling needed to get down to the meat when on the all discussions page, and in my opinion make navigation a little easier and faster.

  • kolabokolabo Member Posts: 240
Oh, and I'd also like to see the go to next and previous page numbers return to the top of the screen. At least until the login issues that have been there for a long time now are fixed. It would just make navigation that much more agreeable.

I can confirm that the Vanilla twitter feed is just a temporary placeholder while changes and updates are being made to the forum software. We do intend to replace this with a GameSalad twitter feed when the forum framework allows it.
