@gyroscope Yup, Theyres some art on their that used to be on gamebeep.com tshirtbooths stuff is on gshelper.com and dba's is on deepblueapps.com, They accept stuff thats being sold elsewhere!,
And as @digi-chain says it doesn't matter.. because as far as we know they're not even operating anymore
Thanks Jack; so in that case, even though I've sent some of my tracks to GS Marketplace it'll still be OK to submit to you for your site too, by the sound of it. :-) (You did say you have a marketplace-type site, didn't you? Or have I got that wrong....)
Edit: I've just read my question asked by someone else earlier in this thread...sorry about the duplication!
@gyroscope Yep, I have a marketplace at: http://thatdevelopermarket.com Its very nice of you think of submitting them to me, As you know I am a big fan of your tracks! - So this is great news!, I'm pretty sure its okay to submit them to multiple marketplaces, If you require further details you can check out the site or PM me , cheers mate, jack
I'll check out the site tomorrow, and either PM you or contact you via the site, thanks. :-)
As you know I am a big fan of your tracks!
That's really nice to hear, cheers, Jack! Though the vast majority of my tracks (approx. 140 of them) weren't written with games in mind... it's to be seen if users are willing to "take creative chances" by using something unexpected/different. :-)
If GS isn't going to keep the marketplace reasonably usable, they should at least stop reprimanding us for advertising /selling templates on the forum, given we have no way to sell the assets legitimately.

@gyroscope Pitty about the tracks not being custom set for games, But for my after dark I think they more than suit it!
Glad to hear it, Jack. :-) Well, maybe others will surprise themselves and find music that adds an extra dimension to their game compared with a more traditional track.... as I say, we wait to see! I didn't get round to emailing you today; I'll try to find time.... well, now! If not, tomorrow, to open discussion about my tracks; hope that's OK.
Everyone who submitted got an email today, Looks like other marketplaces getting in business was all the kick GS needed to get the marketplace back up in shape.... It's still very cluttered IMO
Hmm, I haven't received an email from GS HQ; mind you, I only submitted under three weeks ago... don't know...
I just got your email now and I'm going to respond to it, Cheers Mate... Your music is brilliant for any game I think, It adds a real "profound" touch to serious games, Especially "`End of the earth' I'd play that game for the music alone!

Well, They said that its back up and running and should have emails for all submitters in between 1-2 days, I look forward to having to stuff up on the wonderful GameSalad Marketplace...

Thank you again Jack, that's great to hear! The music on the End of the Earth app is all tracks from my album This Solid Land (as you know) and for your interest, here's some info about that album:
I recorded it in a professional studio in 1988, it was 24 track and recorded onto 2" tape. I paid around £2,500*, which included the recording costs and paying the guest musicians a fee, despite the fact that all of them were friends. They replaced some of my composed synthesiser parts with real instruments, and added a few extempore sections throughout. The guy I was introduced to to play the saxophone parts was (is) a well-respected session musician called Mel Collins, who I "employed" when I remixed the album in 1992. Some people who know about 70's English prog. rock bands will recognise his name, he sessioned with established bands such as Camel, Caravan, King Crimson, etc., etc., etc.,
It was on a small record label in the 90's (now defunct) called Audio Art but just put out on cassette.... "cassette, wassat?" ;-) Now on iTunes of course via my own steam.
Because i had someone relatively famous on this album, anyone want to write a Wikipedia entry about the album This Solid Land....? ;-) (Worth a try.... but seriously, if anyone did, I'll gladly supply more details...)
* The reason I mentioned how much I paid is because it's a sore point with me really; over the 30 years since the first mix, I've earned the princely sum of approx. £200. So... that's about £6.50 per year on average.... but hey, I was consumed with relatively-youthful enthusiasm at the time and didn't make the album primarily to make money, I made it for people to hear my music.... anyhow, that's that!
PS Sorry @Digi-chain your thread is wandering again.... ;-)
@gyroscope - No problem, the thread has a life of its own! I look forward to hearing a few of your tracks when they're up on the marketplace.
Good news is that the marketplace does seem to be back on track - and I've now been accepted as a seller.
Bad news is, it looks like we need to submit a W8-BEN (tax form). As a non-US citizen I'm struggling to work out how I get hold of a TIN (a US tax ID number) which is needed to fill in the W8-BEN.
It seems I either need to fill in a SS-4 EIN form but you need a social security number to do this (I don't have one).
Or, I need to fill out a W-7 ITIN form - and have to post my passport to the US with the form. I don't like the sound of this because I make good use of my passport!
Has anyone whose sorted this out give me some advice? I'm based in the UK.
Cheers

Hi, glad you're OK with your "wandering" thread! :-))
Concerning the W8-BEN form: some of my music tracks are with a music library company called Pump Audio (now been bought out by Getty Images, for interest, about a year ago.... when it was just Pump Audio it was a 50:50 split of revenue, now Getty Images have bought them out, artists get only 35%....grrr... but anyway, that's another story....)
I too am based in the UK and so had to supply a W8-BEN form to Pump Audio....and that was it – no passport, TIN, etc; – just the form. It's basically telling the US Tax that you're money is leaving the country; that you're responsible for any tax considerations in your own country; that you've no business running in the US, etc. So what I'm saying is, I can't see it being any different for a W8-BEN form that GS will need to cover themselves....
Hope that's put your mind at rest (if I'm correct, that is...) :-)
I've just thought: Apple never asked me for a W8-BEN form; at least, not that I remember....strange...

Hi @Digi-Chain, Nice to meet again....... As far as I know as you an Irish citizen you can do this though a social security number as suggested by yourself, Or you can acquire one through ITA (Irish taxation Authority) However this is Ireland Im sure the UK will have similar services? - So maybe check into that Apple never asked me for a w8-BEN form either but that's because Apples Europe financial services are done in Apples Europe HQ in Ireland and Irish Tax doesn't require a W8-BEN
@gyrosocope it's great to know the history behind the tracks, Maybe we could put this on the TDM blog for customers to get a back story, I think it would be nice - PM me
@gyroscope - do you sell anything through the Amazon App Store? They also ask for a W8-BEN form otherwise they withhold 30 percent US tax. I haven't provided them with one because of the issues sorting the TIN number... So it would be interesting to hear if you have sent them a W8-BEN form without a TIN number, and if they accepted it?
@LeonardDeveloper - According to the guidelines accompanying the W8-BEN form, they only accept US social security numbers. Have you provided an Irish one and had any luck?
@digi-chain When I applied for one it for a different website it was through ITA I had to do nothing but provide a Gardaí (Irish Police) stamped form and passport... Then a social security number was provided but it was my Irish one? Perhaps it's a similar process you pass through in the UK?

To add to what Jack's suggesting, the TIN is to do with IRS, the US Tax Office, so you won't get one of those anyway, so you won't need to (i.e can't) put a TIN down on a W8-BEN form. But you will need your social security number (or comparable if it's different in Ireland. Hope that's some help.
For those taking about the w8 form for apple. When submitting the contract and tax info you people have submitted the w8 form. For the first time apple does it for you, if you need any changes later you will have to fill it at us tax site which is troublesome.
Can anyone tell me what does the title means in the agreement? Job title or surname?
