Bought a Template, Now what???

Just got GS, still using the non-pro version. Toying around with it, seems I might want to use it as a developer.
now..
I bought a template because I figured that would be one great way to learn how to get started. The online videos seem to be for an older version of GS. I have modified worlds in various PC games so some of the interface and terminology in GS is not so unfamiliar to me.
However.. I bought the apparently highly praised Utopian Games Racerz template. As the interface and control is what I am looking to go with..
but there is not a .gsproj file in the download.. so now what??
Searching the forums, I found out about an additional program that is needed to Merge stuff.. but I just want to Open this.. umm.. how the heck do I do it??
