A little disappointed..

I left gamesalad for over 6 months and have started a new game today. Why is it taking gamesalad so long to get a polished product?? Gamesalad just refuses to stop crashing and is making this project a living hell. It crashes every 4 minutes! Not to mention I don't see that many new features that we have been begging for for over a year now. We don't even have joints yet. I was hoping that after waiting a few months I could take advantage of the new features. Especially after buying the pro membership, I just expected more from gamesalad. Don't take this the wrong way, I love gamesalad and don't mean to disrespect the team or anyone on the forum, I'm just wondering where the advancements are?

have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling it to fix the crashes?

Latest versions crash once a day during all day work, so it must be more hardware/system problem that GS. And I have to admit that old versions were crashing all the time.

what version of GS are you using? Mine has really only crashed once or twice over the past month, and i think it's only because I left it running for a few hours.

Mine has only crashed a few times this year, I don't have the lastest version yet but it seems fine and I think you need to maybe spend time with GS to learn that it's capable of a lot of great things. When I first started I made a line birds clone to teach me how to learn graphics, I thought that was great, I haven't published anything yet because I am still on work on an original game not a clone. I think a lot of people are going to be forever waiting because you dream up some game that requires features GS currently doesn't have. Then when you finally get that feature, you will dream of a different game that requires different features. The list goes on.

Improvements are needed but to complain about it and then say you love it makes no sense and does nothing but fills the forum. Take it up with someone one on one.

But thanks for expressing your opinion i hope it gets adressed the way you want and good luck in future developing

And the advancements are on thier way, read the threads what's cooking in kitchen and updated roadmap. And have you heard about the new engine?

What about the new advancements? Anybody know about that, since it hasn't been addressed by anybody else, I would appreciate if even somebody from GS could address the OP's concerns. I'm only new to GS and this is not something that somebody looking into buying a Pro membership would like to hear. I'm also a Windows user, and don't really care about other platforms IF I can't get full support for Windows.

I don't even see an option to create a Windows-based game when I create a new project in GS, the only options are for iPhone, Android and some others. - Previewing games kinda sucks too, there doesn't seem to be an option to preview/debug your game in Fullscreen mode. Maybe some features are left out in the free version of the game but I didn't see this mentioned anywhere.

Is there a page on this site somewhere that talks about upcoming features/updates for Windows users? Besides the few issues I have with GS, I'm really enjoying using it. But there are a few things that need to be addressed.

I doubt GS will address anything further, especially this side of Christmas, get used to it

@gyroscope - I'm a pretty quick witted fella, but that is lost on me.

Hi @capitalcarnage Perhaps a bit obtuse... "GameSalad won't address anything further, especially this side of Christmas" and that can't be changed...that decision can't be "touched"....

And added to lighten the mood, I guess!

@gyroscope I think GS should add a Hammertime behavior into creator.

When game.score = 100, trigger Hammer. Over and over again

Why has no-one made a dancing game based on this? C'mon Konami, pull your finger out.

@steeler0038 - Maybe it's different depending on everyone's computer setup? But I've found GS to be be fairly stable for quite a few builds now. It still slows down and can crash but only after many hours of use. I'm on a 2009 macbook with Lion and GS 0.10.1

I have an auto-habit of saving every time I add something new and doing a new 'save as' every day. So I've never lost any progress due to crashing.

But yeah, if you are getting regular slowness/crashing that would sap the fun out of it.

Ha, yep, that'd be cool, Shaz! :-) (If MC Hammer is still seen as cool, that is.... ;-) )

    Perhaps MCHammerRolling should replace RickRolling...

Yea I'm using the latest version of gamesalad. I reinstalled it today so hopefully that will fix the problem. But like I said about the advancements, I just wish they could crank out new things a little faster, like joints, different loading wheels, their new non lua system, I love gamesalad and it will always have a special place in my heart, but at the same time they kind of tick me off. The gamesalad product is great, but I just hope they can keep up with their competition...thats what scares me most.

Anyways thanks guys! I do have to say that the gamesalad community is the BEST thing about gamesalad!
