I recently had comments deleted and also the user who commented after me. I'm not quite sure what was so bad about the post. It seems to me that others get away with totally trashing threads on a continuing basis and yet nothing is done about it. It seems conversation other than gum drops and blue sky's are outlawed because of the influx of 12 - 14 year olds on the forum. We've been here before as to age appropriateness for the forums. This forum used to be a cool place with tons of knowledgable serious developers now it's like candy land. I am at a loss. It's just too bad I guess GS considers them their target audience. Or maybe it's an indication I need to move on to a more sophisticated development tool. Oh well.

Nothing against the younger members of this community, at all. I love everyone. I try my best to be fair, and impartial when moderating, but sometimes things get out of hand. Lots of people in this little family of ours, so these things I expect from time to time. I never delete, or close threads that are relevant, and stay on topic. Everyone has a voice, and I try to respect it, until it gets out of hand.
A lot of this is our (the moderators) fault for letting things get out of hand, and not putting an end to off topics...and again, general grab-assery. I'm not pointing any fingers, and I don't have any particular members in mind when I say that, it's across the board. I love this community, and it is the most helpful in all of the developer communities I know of, and I hope we can keep it that way.

Dave, hi, don't worry, disappearing posts recently are nothing personal, the problem has been affecting quite a few other people including myself as well, and last to say, hopefully the problem has been, or will be solved soon.
What has been happening: when people have been pressing "Yes" of "Did this post help you? Yes or No", for some rather peculiar reason, the post has been deleted.
Definitely a Vanilla Forums glitch which has been pointed out to @SaladStraightShooter who says - in different words - it's going to be dealt with asap.

The community is great though- there are always people willing to help others figure out how to do something. I've learned a lot from reading various threads here, and it doesn't just help with GameSalad, but the ideas can be adapted to my programming knowledge as a whole. And because of everyone's generosity, I am trying to give back to the community as well.
Perhaps we need a new wave of moderators, to help quell the off topic discussion.
Other than that, I'll take some of the blame for the misdirection the forums come across from time to time. @SaladStraightShooter is our Community Manager/Liaison and he leaves a lot of the moderating in our hands, as he is a busy, busy man, and doesn't have the time to moderate the forums 24/7 himself, and babysit the moderators, too. And I don't have the time to moderate 24/7 myself, either. I'm usually the late nighter/early morning crew, when it comes to moderating.

One thing I'm wondering about. Not even sure if its possible, or I might not have read them myself. But maybe have it to where, the forum rules have to be agreed with at the time people start a new account, because I've been seeing a lot of duplicate questions being asked. I'm not really even sure how gamesalad can regulate it. But hopefully someone can come up with a idea.
Also agree on how the forum demographics make GS look like a pre-teens developer tool, not a more complex one. Dunno bout @Utveckla_Games, but I'm definitely older than 12; some of this joking, however, suggests otherwise about the forums

Mine was (kindly) telling this effective troll to shut up, but I suppose somebody didn't agree with me.

Oh, don't take it too hard on yourself . It's my fault, too. All I meant was that I did see how the creator of the thread might not like it, so we should minimize thread space.
Oh, but don't worry; you can still praise my greatness on my wall, yours and snapfire's

Therefore: It attracts people with less skill and experience.
Therefore: Those people post on the forums when they have an "issue" or question that they are unwilling or unable to remedy themselves.
Therefore: The forums look untidy and unprofessional, because of the amount of newbies and people just plain not dedicated to working things out themselves.
Notice how I say "people with less skill and experience" and not "teens". This is because it is unfair to lump intelligent and hardworking teens in with the others, no matter how much of a minority they are. Plus, there are plenty of people who are not teens and have the same trouble, especially ones who don't know a lot of english.
It's not something that GS can fix. It's just the way it's going to be. However, they can make a quality tool to promote professionalism, and encourage intelligent moderation to make these effects seem (and be) less likely.
Also keep in mind that all forums have this issue to some extent. It's just the ease of use of GS that brings the unprofessionals and people who expect other people to do their work for them.
Just my 2 cents

P.S. I think a series of simple forums rules that people have to agree to when they first join is a fantastic idea, because so many people just don't realize they're doing anything incorrectly. Do you think there is a possibility of this @SaladStraightShooter?
P.P.S. @Chakku - It's all fun and games until you get your head chopped off by the king :P But in all seriousness, we can quiet down a bit.
And I was referring to no one in particular, and have no individual(s) in mind when I was talking about forum antics. They've been going on since before I've been here. No one needs to worry, unless you get a warning. I'm a smart mouth myself 99% of the time, and I love a good joke or 3. No reason we cannot kid around, or post a funny picture, or video in place of a response, but sometimes we all can take it too far, or drag it out longer than necessary, and completely bury or separate (by pages) relevant information that is within a thread.
Even though these forums do serve a specific purpose, like I said, there's nothing wrong with a little joking around from time to time. I don't want us to fear the forums, and nobody is out to get anybody. I promise. I would just like to see threads about problem solving, and general helpful information, stay about problem solving, and general helpful information, and not derail into something else so that there are pages of irrelevant information separating useful information. We have a "Miscellaneous" and "Non GameSalad News" thread for things that aren't specifically about GameSalad development.

I've read it and found it very useful.
Let's not forget point number 6.

I guess there's no real way to force someone to read rules. It's much like the Apple Agreement when you update iTunes, or any other software. And we all know what happened to Kyle when he didn't read the Apple Agreement before clicking the Agree button.
You need to watch South Park
