I guess there's no real way to force someone to read rules. It's much like the Apple Agreement when you update iTunes, or any other software. And we all know what happened to Kyle when he didn't read the Apple Agreement before clicking the Agree button.
But by having it in their face when they sign up, and having it be short, it makes it more likely that they will. Plus, then they've been "warned". And I'm sorry to hear about Kyle. He was a great man, although awkward at times. :P - Thomas

Don't misunderstand me I love a good clever smart a$$ remark but things get out of hand just as they have a bit in this thread. Trying to address an issue and get some serious feedback. Please address the topic at hand in my thread and take conversations to PM or Skype. As someone with a legacy of helping, I don't have a problem with new users and their questions as it's easy to point them to the information as much of it is in video form which is why some of us veterans turned to making videos so we don't have to explain things over and over and can record it once and the user can watch it at their pace. The problem is the general grabassing and this attitude that if you don't say to everyone oh you're wonderful and your game is awesome and other such pandering one gets chided by others. There also seems to be a group of people who seem to have made these forum their hangout and I have yet to see them make a game. If you don't make games why are you here? I know from talking with other veteran GS users that they avoid the forums because of these things. That's too bad as we miss out on the experience and input. If we care about the community we will take some time to think about our role here and how we can be better and that includes me. I'm almost done with my game and will be going back to making new videos.

Glad to hear you'll be doing videos again. I like them, and they are very helpful to new users, for sure.
I agree, FBS. I too know of people that no longer come here because of the antics, and immaturity that happens here, and yeah, they are some good developers that could have very useful information, but they don't post anymore.
And this is "Game Development for Everyone" and that does bring all walks of life, young and not so young, very professional, and not very professional. The general view of GameSalad is that of a toy by a lot of the developer community outside of GameSalad, because of the many youthful members. Not many other tools have pre-teens making games with their software, and that brings the view of this "GameSalad is a toy for kids" attitude towards it, and it's not given a fair shake in the developer community, because it's just as powerful, if not more powerful than other SDK's out there. It just depends in who's hands it's in. That pre-judgement attitude, along with a visit to the forums on a particularly immature day of posting, solidifies their pre-conceived notion that GameSalad is not for serious developers. And that sucks, because it really is ahead of it's time, regardless of the bugs people think negate it's relevancy, and hiccups we all encounter along the way because a particular feature we want is not available yet. It's even taught in schools, and I don't know of any other game development tool that is used in a educational curriculum, anywhere. And yet it's still looked down upon.
I have to say I see a fair a bit of this childish behaviour around the forums, and sometimes it can ruin a very good thread. But do you think this happens in the PRO forums as much as in the general forum? BTW I cant wait to see more of your videos @FryingBaconStudios Its great to learn from the best.
@slickzero yes I agree GS gets a bad rap out there. I've even had trolls slam my YouTube page where I host my tutorials for GS but I have thick skin and I don't let stupid people like that stop me. I know codewizard is bringing this tool to an awesome place and I would bet the farm within a year GS passes some of these other engines in development like they're standing still. As such we need to do our part to help maturate the forums. I would like to see the runaway off topic stuff deleted from threads, I think this would send a message, don't bother posting that stuff because it's just going to get removed. We have the warnings option and I have yet ever seen anyone get one. Maybe that could be used to nudge people to stop. Also, as slickzero did yesterday when someone posts their age and it's under the forum limit they should be banned instantly. I have no problem with young people, I have two children, but I expect them to act appropriately in public and this is a public forum for game development.
Unfortunately, the Pro forum never became a trendy place to post. That's a good idea though, I may limit my posts to the pro forum and see if we can't get some traction there.
I don't agree, your skin is not that thick but we'll back you up if needed Although it doesn't bother me that much i agree with some of your statements. I am better at ignoring the less important posts I guess. And I like a good joke as long as its kind of on topic.

@LeonardDeveloper Yep, you may have missed it, but a page or 2 ago I said I've told Utveckla_Games to keep it to walls.
@LeonardDeveloper Sorry. Look, I get what everyone says and I agree. I'm not a professional in any way with game creation but I do want to learn with it and not treat it like a toy. Good people work hard to make this engine and although we may say we thank them for that, we do need to show it too. I do realize that I was part of the thread that probably started this one and @Chakku and I will work something out to stop bugging you guys. (Wall posts can be just as annoying because you see them in the activity.) PS @FryingBaconStudios I have made a game by the way. 2 real ones and 3 other smaller ones.
My post wasn't directed at you @utveckla_games I believe you are the least of the offenders. So please don't think I had you in mind I didn't. And I will say you were thrown under the bus and that is not cool. We all need to take responsibility for our own selves and not point out specific persons as was done to you. This is why I did not name anyone specific. If in my comments someone fits the characterization then take it as wise advice and not a slam. I am no angel and had my share of mistakes but I always take responsibility for my actions alone and do not blame others for my own mistakes. If one is man enough to post something then be man enough to own it.
I agree with everything here. However, I think there is a forum glitch in the mix. I made a positive comment about Quire's work, he accepted the answer by mistake and it deleted my post. Because I know Mark he emailed me and I reposted it.
Well, just as in any feild, there are those who do and those who talk about it. We have a lot folks that do a lot of talking here. (Which is normal as this is required to get from a to z). I'd rather see the majorty of that talk be less about social chit-chat arround the water tank as though it and their forum score makes them more reputable as a developer. It kinda says the opposite really. Kinda like folks with butt-tons of trophies and achievements on the game consoles. For instance, when someone 6 months into the forums has more posts than most GS vets or long time mods, it tells where their priorities lay.
The influx of new users and the familiar catagorical intentions for using GS , or their day dreaming about it has kept me from visiting much. It's a familiar tide. A crowded beach. I'll swim elsewhere thank you.
What is common: Same questions. Little to no initiative. Queationable intentions and/or ethics. Not being realistic...at all. But hey, it is a forum and I seriously have better things to worry about.
@Fry I've seen stuff delete too, but it was typically stuff that was answered or closed.
