game intro film

HI Gamesalad forum

i'm about to make a intro to my game but Gamesalad can't display videos, so i will make it as an animation but i'm not sure how long an animation max can be.

so i'm not sure how long my intro max can be.

any answers will be great :-)

    Since you wanna make an intro, I'm assuming it's going to be fullscreen? To be honest I'm not sure about the max (if there is one), but you have to take into consideration the fact that if you will use the Animate Behaviour, you will be flipping through multiple image files. A fullscreen retina image is not going to be light and if you're going to have multiples of those, you're going to end up with a relatively big app size -- and that's just for the intro. Of course you can use image optimisation software but it's still going to be big in the end.

    You might want to explore creating multiple Actors and animating them all to form your intro, using self.Time or even Timers. Long sequences can produce erratic timing so try to limit this especially if you're using Timers + background music or sound effects.

    If you still want to solely rely on Animations, I suggest you take a look at this thread for tips on how others optimise it for performance.
