@skyrocket_Entertainment I'm experimenting with a free/paid model. You can get Flippy Fish for free. Look for Floppy Fish, It's the same game only in greyscale.
Dong, marketer turned app developer. If the app returns, the market is probably going to get screwed up again lol. The top games are slowly returning back to normal.
Well Ultimate Arcade inc have started issuing infringement notices of the use if word flappy (they have filled for trademark but not yet granted) Apple are taking it serious though as they have started removing or at least asking devs to prove they are not infringing their rights. So wonder where dong will stand on that one!
No offense to anybody who made a clone, but I wish this dev will bring his game back, and all the clones will be removed. It's his game and his only, this cloning scenario has gone way too far.

Just because someone made a clone, doesnt mean they should be removed. Otherwise you should go around removing all the other clones from the games market, including FPS games, racing etc.
Just look at the 'match 4' candy games.....

@gingagaming Man I am really starting to get pissed off about these bigger companies being the definition of douche. Not only do they lack any creativity by out right copying other peoples games (their game as well as King with Candy Crush etc), but they then go out and try to copyright simple words so they can f over everyone. It just irks me like no other. I hate people abusing laws to their own gain (not just this either).
As for Flappy Bird coming back. If this is true, I could see it having a spike when it first comes back, but I would bet it would die off fast. The phase is pretty much at its death, especially after the multitude of clones. People will likely download it for the sheer fact that it came back, but I can't imagine it will stay up long before falling back into the shadows.

There are levels of cloning, you can get inspiration from a game and make something of your own, take an example of my game "Spin the Nut", I had lots of inspiration from Cut the Rope, but you can never call it a clone..
Taking a game who has a bird thats flies through pipes and called Flappy bird, and "REMAKE" it with a "fat bird" that flies through different graphics of pipes and call it Fat Flappy…. thats a clone right there.
With all those clone out there, I bet theres already an overloaded method for this

See, I knew this would happen. Take the most popular game off the market, wait a few weeks and let it pop up again so you get a huge download boost.
It's the next stage in a very successful marketing plan. The removal of the app, was meant to stop the addictition.
However, people will still have it on their devices, and those like me who had deleted it, could re download it from the AppStore whenever we wanted to get back into the action.
To put it simple. He made something that caught on, for most people they would have left it. But when you have something, for free, that so many people want and then suddenly take it away from them, it only makes them want it even more. There are going to be a lot of people who have mates playing but they can not because they didn't download to when they had the chance.
So what's next, I see two options.
Flappy bird will be release with a price tag. It has a high demand people will pay.
Or it just goes free and becomes popular for a bit again but then does off.
Either way, a re-release will earn a huge amount of money because there is a supply and demand issue.
Also i would say i know its a bit late but it is really worth it with these clones don't be so fast to critique as i was astonished at the amount of downloads on apple store straight from the off, yes it earns a little in ads not enough by far but couple of quid a day don't hurt the old pockets.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY this is a great way of marketing / advertising your own games/apps to the world with growing and growing amounts of downloads per day there is no better way of free publicity for your other games simply put in an ad and url link to another one of your games and hey presto direct audience capitalisation why not worth a go. Don't be so quick to judge.
It's been a while since my last visit here.. or my last game was out!
This is my version of the Flappy Trend, I wanted to know if I was capable of making a quality game from scratch as fast as possible! And I'm quite happy with the Results!
I did not used any kind of templates, It's all my Art and code..

yea, but it can be a good thing. It's bringing a lot of people into development who may have never given it another look. Flappybirds is a very approachable game where even a novice can create a clone in a few days. Will they make millions? No, but maybe their next game will!

@jonmulcahy Yes it brings people into developing which is great, but it gets annoying because all the app store is full with clones.
you are right, but in a world full of flappy bird clones, maybe it's easier to stand out?
