    Great to see another GS resource out there. Obviously the site is new and not complete and I'm sure you're working to fill in the missing content, but I just thought I'd mention that this would make me immediately suspicious of your site and not take it seriously. You might think about how important that revenue is to you and whether it's worth turning people off.

    Hahahaha that's funny. Why on earth would you put what appears to be a pyramid scheme in your website?

    The donate button is annoying enough but come on...
  • CodeMonsterCodeMonster ACT, AustraliaMember Posts: 1,078
    @tatiang thanks for the feedback. That problem has now been removed from the site :).

    @tenrdrmer‌ what pyramid :/
    And yes I'm also removing the donate button tonight.

    And thanks @Thunder_Child‌ :)

    I'm still fixing and editing the site as it's fairly new. All feedback is great.
    Thanks guys

    @Gamelover456‌ that project is now In our to do list. Cheers.

    good content should be your number one priority. I'd get rid of the donate button, switch to a more typical font, and get rid of the brackets around each demo / template title. get rid of capslock on the main page. :)

    also screenshots for each demo like you have under templates

    Well, it's always a big job and time dedicate to run a template service website.
    But I can tell you, the same reason I don't shop at Gshelper anymore, is that you completely rip a game and call it a clone with the exact same art.

    That Flappy bird template, your trying to make money off someone else's art. That's the one thing I really don't approve of. But that's my opinion.

    That a side, I hope it takes off for you and all the best.

    @jonmulcahy‌ thanks for the feedback :) will fix wen I get home.
    @loaded thanks :)

    @Jeromy me and timolapre make what the people want. And it seems flappy bird is the new trend.
  • tatiangtatiang Member, Sous Chef, PRO, Senior Sous-Chef Posts: 11,949
    @Jeromy I think the point of making a template look as realistic as possible is more of a marketing plot than an attempt at forcing more exact replicas into the App Store. I think if you asked anyone at GSHelper or similar sites why they do this you'd hear more about what @CodeMonster said, "[we] make what people want." If you try to sell a template and it looks nothing like the original game but uses the same mechanics, people are less likely to be interested. It's definitely a double-edged sword in that doing so allows people to much more easily copy and publish games without doing the hard work of customizing it and being creative and innovative, so I do see your point.

    @CodeMonster I'm glad you're open to constructive criticism. As I mentioned in my PM to you, I want you to succeed as I'm sure others here do.

    So here's my "first impression" of your website (larger version attached):

    thanks @tatiang for your feedback. i am changing all the stuff you have mentioned and hopefully i am making it better.

    @CodeMonster‌ and @tatiang‌

    I am honestly am too busy to really worry too much about this subject. But the point is, it's great people are making clones or popular games, like code monster with flappy birds, and Gshelper with flight control.

    What I don't think is right, is using the exact same art. It's wrong even without buying a template. That's my issue. And to me, that shows people are, and this is a general statement, trying to make a quick buck, without actually putting the effort not to rip the art from a popular game.
    If you want me to make it easier to explain if anyone doesn't understand, I am quite happy to pull up a screenshot of flappy birds and the flappy bird template, the flight control and the flight control template. You won't see much of a difference.

    My advice, use the name to tell people, but use a different style of art. Because people who buy templates are going to put them on the AppStore. Everyone complained when that happened to thirst booth and his games. How is it ok to rip the exact same art from another game and sell it when the art doesn't belong to you.

    That's just my opinion, feedback on websites that offer templates. That a side I highly encourage you to continue on.

    All the best

    If you watch the video it explains at the end the graphics are free for public domain. An the template is mainly just for code. @Basseman‌

    @gamelover456 There's already a few Angry Birds templates out, one we made is below.

    We also made one for the GS team a while back for them to show off the capabilities of GS at a show they attended….I think they have that on the market place under a new name Pigs of War?

    Best of luck @CodeMonster its not an easy thing to do and run as i told you via the PM it takes a lot of time to build a customer base and you need to be very sharp with your customer service.

    Darren.

    I agree with Darren. Putting up a site before it is complete is a big. No no. It demonstrates unprofessionism. Why would I hire you guys to build a complex game when you can't get a website together? Your reputation and image is everything in business. This isn't a good way to get started. Take for example I've been working on a new website but no one will see it until is complete and I have a few people who's opinion I value go over it. I wish you well and this should be a big learning experience for You both.

    I dought you would ever want to hire us @FryingBaconStudios as I can tell you are quite an advanced developer.

    But others have already hired us and we are working on their projects.
    Building websites and making games is quite new to me yet I'm learning extremely fast.

    Take intact that I joined around September but started learning gamesalad about a month before I joined the forums.
    I only started making a website a couple of days ago. And i think it's good for others to see the progress I put into the site just like I have with gamesalad.

    Was it the fact I teach the software that gave me away as an advanced developer....lol

    Good luck.

    Good luck with the site chaps. It's always good to see what others are offering but I would focus on offering different templates then the others. We already have lots of samey templates.

    With multiplayer coming, maybe you could work some magic there?

    @CodeMonster i happen to think the website was good enough not to critique. I did think Flappybird "clone" should not be for sale. I havent yet but will be checking out the GS Demo links....a few I wish to check out. Selling your sourcecode for the great adventure will be a good one. You have a lot of good things you incorporated into that game. Although a few things looked ametuer its better than I can do. I may buy that one in the future because of all the features you have in that game. Good luck to you and Timolapre. I personally look forward to what you may have to offer in the future. I also congradulate you on taking the risk of providing templates and games for non guru GS developers. Even if you are new at it...a bit of polishing is ok. Doesnt have to be perfect website for me to become a customer and subscriber.

    =D>

    I'm already half done with a multiplayer template.

    Thanks heaps @Thunder_Child‌ really appreciate the feedback :) note under each paid template it says who made the template aswell. Just thought id add that in :)

    In about a year or two I really hope to be something like the popular 3rd party websites that sell gs templates.
    Ik it won't be easy but I'm up for the challenge :)
