@CodeMonster‌ thanks for making some nice templates. My only feedback is the random differences in the way the templates are packaged and downloaded. I mean sheesh, .rar .zip, dropbox, media fire etc.?? Stick with one and you will be better off. All the .rar templates I can't even download without getting another extractor on Mac (or do more work than I want).

Also, why are you making another GS template website? Just use the Deep Blue Market if you just want to make some money off your designs.

    Good luck.

Hey thanx for the feedback @JDuaneJ‌
I'm not making this website just for some money. I want to make it to give back to the community.

Yes those .rar were built on a PC. I have to convert it to mac in the next day or two.

I will upload everything to Dropbox.

I would be fixing the website up at the moment but I'm having issues with loading the website and logging in.

Great new resource, nice work. Especially the $15 hourly coding fee, I will certainly be using you guys when I'm in a pickle.

    thanks @zzap64 :)

hey guys also a heads up here is a list of my TO-DO templates i have been putting together over the past 2 days (i will be using hand drawn art for these templates so the graphics wont be great haha)

    ::::::TODO LIST::::::
-clash of clans (no multiplayer, just single player)
    -short rpg style game
    -the unfair platformer game
    -plants VS zombies
-hair dressing style game (my little sister loves games like these and she begged me to make one similar)
-dress ups style game (where you get to dress up a character you choose)
    -clear vision

that list was in no particular order as i will eventually make all of them.
feel free to chuck in any suggestions for templates and feedback would be great :)
also note i will be making 2 of those templates up in the TODO list free templates.

    cheers :)

    . . . . . . . .

Long and tedious slightly preachy rant approaching, reading it is optional ;P

I'm not making this website just for some money. I want to make it to give back to the community.

If you want to give stuff back to the community you can simply post stuff on the forums, a lot more people browse the forums than even the most popular 3rd party GS websites, that's what I (and many others) tend to do with ideas and projects I think others might find useful, simply upload them to where the GameSalad community can easily access them, comment on them, suggest improvements and so on.

A couple of recent (related) examples would be ericzingeler's excellent 'Draw-It' and my own colour selection wheel, I can't speak for ericzingeler, but if he's anything like me his projects are the result of days of work, lots of experimentation, a worn out calculator and a lot of late nights, these kinds of projects are then given away freely, uploaded to the forums in a genuine spirit of contributing to the community . . . so it does grate a little to see eric's drawing code married to elements like my colour selection wheel (you didn't even bother to change my artwork) and then sold on as your own work for $25.

The way I see it when people contribute ideas, code, projects (etc) to the forum it is to inspire further ideas or for other people to modify, adapt or even simply use these elements as they are in their own games - rather than for people to take them and then sell them on for personal gain. I've zero issues with code that has been given away freely popping up in actual games, that's the intention, hopefully people will adapt stuff or put their own spin on it, but even if elements are cut and pasted directly without alteration that's fine as far as I can see, it's when these community contributions are repackaged and sold as game making tools (like templates) where I see an issue.

Of course feel free to do what you think is best, I'm certainly not going to stop you, but taking work others have shared with the community and selling it as your own work for personal profit isn't really in keeping with the spirit of 'giving back to the community'.

I'd also echo what others have said (here and elsewhere) about clone templates, I've always hated the idea that I might spend a couple of years working every hour of the day and night on my game, giving it everything I have, blood, sweat and tears, drawing and editing and doing sound design and music and more designing and more redesigning and testing and calculating and retesting and recalculating and scrapping everything and starting again and glancing out of the window and realising it's 5:20 am (again!) and it's getting light, and the same deal the next night and the next and the next for months . . . and finally you have the game that you put your heart and soul into, something you have obsessed over for months or even years, something you are proud of . . . so you upload it to the App Store and (we can all dream) it does quite well, it creeps into the top 100 . . . only to appear on the radar of the clone template makers, who decide they're going to help themselves to your efforts so they can profit from your work, not only making a perfect rip off kit that any unscrupulous opportunist can simply upload to the App Store (this is not a hypothetical, it's unfortunately common), but also generating a whole market of near identical copies of your game by people who put in none of the work, yet are able to put out a game under their own name with all your ideas, design, mechanics, look and feel - a market that inevitably eats into any profit you - as the actual game maker - might make from your work.

SDK makers go to great lengths to make their code difficult to reverse-engineer (I believe GameSalad are working on something called 'Project Obfuscation' for this very purpose), this helps stymie attempts by people to pick apart your published game and rip it off, as we all know GameSalad have enough on their plate with a thousand planned improvements to the Creator, so they wouldn't really take on a project like this unless their was a real need, the problem of pirating and people getting their games ripped off is very real . . . yet template makers seem to be putting all their efforts into doing the exact opposite, doing everything they can to make the code, artwork, sound and mechanics of other people's games freely available (for a price of course).

    . . . . . . . . .

I'm not sure clone templates do anything except pollute the games market with rip off products that prevent small indie game makers from being able to make a decent career in games.

After reviewing this thread from a user complaint it has certainly trend into more than just a free templates thread. Forum rules state :

"Advertising your website where you sell your personal templates - this rule returns to its previous stance - no advertisements of personal websites outside of the "Third Party Links" thread or an unobtrusive link in your signature. (no images, please)"

Free stuff is certainly allowed but this has gone beyond that for sure.

I'll reopen if the rules are changed after a talk with GS hq about it.

    Cheers
    Aaron
