Any simple AND easy design programs for mac?

I have no artistic ability whatsoever, but i am really looking for a simple and easy program that I can use to create my characters and objects in. Any suggestions would help, thanks.

I really like ArtText 2. It allows me to quickly create polished actors. It's only $20 and there is a "lite" version too...

I might suggest a software called art board, which allows one to create vector images, I find that it's most conducive to background images.
