I went back and checked the PDF agreement that comes with the codes. Yeah... it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Heh... so maybe I can give Weswog a code. I wasn't sure of the age, but now that doesn't matter. Although... what about exporting? That's still an issue...

    Part 11 section i
    i. This Agreement is only for Custom Codes within the Territory. You may not export any Custom Codes obtained pursuant to this Agreement. Risk of loss and title for Custom Codes pass to the Application Provider in California upon delivery to iTunes Connect.

I tried to post some codes and found that most were 1 character too long to fit on the line provided. Is it OK if they go to the second line?

    They have always 12 characters
They shouldn't go into the second line.

    Check them again.
Macs can mess up copy pasted textes. We always had the problem on the previous version that people using macs always added invisible special characters which messed up everything in the database.

Maybe it was something else... I don't know. The point is, promo codes are always 12 characters. Letters and numbers.

Yes, my codes are 12 characters, but some spill a letter over to the next line. Will this be a problem?

Hey, I ran into this also. All you have to do is click and drag the bottom right corner on the box (has a drag indicator). This will let you widen the box and the codes will fit well.

    nice, thanks

Oh, maybe it's a browser thing for you.

The field to add the codes are exactly so wide, that the 12 characters fit, but I only tested it on windows in Firefox.

Maybe Safari on a Mac behaves otherwise.

i think it might depend on the size of the screen, mine go over too but i dont think it should be a problem because each promo "should" be separated by a return click. (next line)
Very nice site Hunnenkoenig! how many viewers do u get each day?

we had around 50 thousand uniques since july 2009.

We have about 500 uniques daily, but we hope it gets better and better. We need developers to realize that this is not a review site and that they need to advertise their promo codes on other platforms through the promo dispenser link.

The problem is, many people think, it's the 1 millionth review site. We even get mails from devs asking us to review their apps and then there is a promo code in the email.

The site has 5000+ registered users, but it is a squirrel fart compared to the number of iphone users, so don't rely only on the users of promo dispenser!

Get the word out if you want itunes reviews :-)

I was wondering about user base. I uploaded 5 codes for Space Bump and 5 codes for Unite and they are all still available. Looks like quite a few GS developers here have signed up and posted apps/codes. Anyone notice that their games are getting downloaded and reviewed?

I was able to check what codes were used by going to the Account page and then the Uploaded Apps section of that page. Can see that none of my codes have been used.

I wish the gamesalad site had this functionality built in as a way to pass codes to fellow developers, or that saladgamers had it. I think the feature of having to review a game/app before getting a new code is genius.

I have used this site for months and it seems to get me reviews pretty well.

    Please be patient.

    1. The new system was introduced a few days ago.
    2. Many new apps were uploaded
    3. From 6000+ users 90 users provided an appstore ID until now, which is mandatory for a review
    4. Users can take 1 code every 24 hours
    5. Users have to review every previous app before they can take a new one. Some of them have downloaded 100+ apps which they now have to review (and that needs an appstore ID first)

In your registration mail you could read, that you shouldn't expect immediate results within a few hours.

Instead of bitching around, you could advertise the site with your codes as advised in the registration email (if you have read it) and then maybe your codes would be downloaded quicker.

Oh, and your game must be a good one.

Crap doesn't sell even for free :-P

And I don't understand the "I wish siteX would have this feature"

You have a site which has exactly this feature. Namely Promodispenser.com. I don't understand, why it would be better, if gamesalad com had this feature. They are too late (nanananananaaaa).

If you want to have your fellow developers to take a code, just point them to the site.

why do you need peoples app store id?
  • HunnenkoenigHunnenkoenig Member Posts: 1,173
Because only with that appstore ID we are able to check, if they really wrote a review on iTunes for your app. Which is the whole point of the site.

You give away your promo codes to get itunes reviews.
  • Rob2Rob2 Member Posts: 2,402
so you go and manually check the reviews?
  • HunnenkoenigHunnenkoenig Member Posts: 1,173
No, the system does it automatically, or the user can validate his/her reviews manually from the account page on promo dispenser.

Auto checking works every 24 hour.

    Here's my take on this:

If you have a so-so or downright crappy app, this is not the site for you. If you have a decent or great app then this is the perfect site. If someone takes a code for a crappy app and then they are forced to take the time to go to iTunes and write a review, they will most likely be anonyed and write a very negative review. If you have a decent app this process will force them to actually think about the quality of your app and then rate and review it. The current system of delete and rate means that people give you 1 stars without even really thinking about the quality of your app. Hunn's site forces people to think about your app. So I plan to use this site, but only with games I feel really good about.

    just my $.02

    ok ..thanks

    scitunes: exactly.

There are apps on the site, which already have many reviews from promo dispenser on itunes.

You can see the promo dispenser reviews by looking at the usernames on promo dispenser. If the user name is colored orange, it was a user from promo dispenser.

    for example this: http://iphoneapp-promocodes.com/appinfo-1074.html

    or this: http://iphoneapp-promocodes.com/appinfo-1059.html

    ---------
If the system is unclear for somebody: reviews are scraped in real time from the US iTunes to show up on promo dispenser.

Reviews from promo dispenser users are colored orange.
