Yes, that's the same method as mine and Hopscotch's. I used direct reference to the main actors position to minimize lag, but that requires you to unlock the actors.

Whoops! Sorry, didn't see your examples, just ploughed straight in ! But yeah, I think that's probably the easiest method (easiest to control, customise - etc).

Btw, did you know you can spawn walls faster by spawning setting up the spawning in the wall actor? Here's a demo (I figured it out today):
