Ah, yeah. Looks familiar. Think I came across that template a while back. But can't find it on my Mac. Downloading it now! Thank you so much for your help, man!
So here´s the last mode in "LIGHTS". This one´s called Noir. Color fragments from future films are infesting your 1940s film noir. The more you get hit, the more color spreads across the level. Dodge them and make sure your movie stays noir!
When Im finished with this last mode I´ll get on with implementing in app purchase. Hopefully the game is out Q1 next year!
The last mode, as seen above, will hopefully be done in a few weeks. I have two weeks off work around christmas and new years and a few days in January. Awesome! Ive got a 3 months old little girl though... We'll see how much I can actually get done... :disagree:
Anyways. I was wondering if anyone made a game with an in-game store. Im planning on having light bulps as the "currency". And you collect them by finding them through out the different modes and by scoring high, but you can also get these through in app purchase.
So what really troubles me is how to balance this. That is so hard. Were do I start? I dont want to push people to buy these light bulps, so it must be fair. At the same time, it would be nice to balance it so that players dont mind buying maybe one set of these bulps. Hmm... Any tips, thoughts, advice?
I will start working on the in-game store around new years.
Hey, hope you all had a great couple of weeks, while celebrating what ever you did or did not celebrate!
So the game mechanics, the graphics and the levels are pretty much done now. Some polishing needed here and there, but LIGHTS feels good. The next major thing to focus on will be the IAP and the in-game "currency" in the form of light bulps. I´ve just started working with the currency.
I had one question about IAP and about the "restore purchase" button people talk about here on the forums. So if I´ve got it all right, the restore purchase button is ONLY needed if the player bought DLC/more levels or important characters etc. While if it is IAP in the form of buying in-game currency, there is no need for restoring purchase, because players could then use that to get more currency without buying more... Did I get it right?
So lets say I have ads in my game and I also have IAP. There would be different levels of IAP. One being only getting rid of ads. Another only for in-game currency, and a third one both combined. So the last would be getting rid of ads AND getting currency. So how would I solve that one? Can the restore purchase button only restore half of the purchase, say, only the getting rid of ads half? I imagen there being a lot of other ways doing this easier, but I´d like to go with the combo of ads-free + currency.
Hope Im making sense. And please, if you have a better idea, do share it.
Check out the previous updates I´ve made here on this thread. Lots of cool pics!
Have a great new year and take care every one,
/Seb

If you have non-consumable IAPs Apple will require you to have an IAP restore button.
As you described it you want both non-consumables=get rid of ads
and consumable=in game currancy and will therefore need a restore purchase button. You can't mix a consumable and a non-consumable IAP since they are two different types of IAP so you will have to go for one IAP to remove ads=non consumable=buy once, and one IAP for in game currancy=buy multiple times=consumable.

Thanks, Dues! Good to know. Very insightful, indeed! Have to rethink a couple of things now, but it might be better.
Also, just to throw this out there @sebmat86, it doesn't matter where you have the restore iAP button and if it's kind of hidden in a way. Just as long as it's in there, functions and the user can access it. Lots of companies have it in a place that is kind of hard to find which is why, sometimes it seems like there isn't one. LOL Good luck with the game and looking forward to checking it out!!!

Ah, thanks man, good info! We´ll see how I´ll do it.
Cheers and thanks for the good luck wishes!
Hi everyone! Man, is the forum spammed or what...!? Im afraid this post will drown in all these weird fake posts... But hopefully someone sees this.
So the development of LIGHTS is going a tad bit slower than I wished for, because of... Life, I guess. Anyways, Im simultaneously working on a lot of stuff for the game. Right now Im designing different icons/buttons for the menus and was wondering about the Game Center icon. Ive read that people have had problems with getting the app approved due to the GC image... Is this still true? Or what exactly is the problem? Found this here on the forums, is the info here still correct?:
Also, do we have to use the latest design? Im not a big fan of the GC bubbles icon...
If anyone has anymore insightful info regarding icons, please do share!
Thanks a lot!
/Seb
-------------------------------------
Here´s a new pic from the menu. I changed the name of the third mode/level from "3D" to "Dualism", which makes more sense. You´ll see when the game´s out!
So Ive done a few of my own designs of the Game Center Icon, but before polishing anything, I was still wondering about this here, if anyone knows anything:

I've moved away from the GC bubbles and have went with trophies. Now when I port to Amazon I do not have to worry about another icon to create.
Huh, actually a really good tip. Thanks. Im gonna have to think that through though, but I might try that out instead.
I thought I'd make one of those dev update videos that some people do. At least I'll try it out with this first video. Might be fun to some of you to see a bit gameplay also! And there's no talking, just some awesome music from the game!
Keep in mind that the quality of the video is not the best but the game looks great and runs smooth on the iPhone 5. Hope you like it. Here's the link:
Ah, thanks, @Daftbomb, so good to hear that I inspire you. Yeah, been working on this for some time now. Would love to speed up the process and get the game out very soon. But I have to get it right. I have to stay true to my vision. And polish the game the best I can! You've got that right! Thanks again!
Thanks @NipaDidIt! Glad you fancy the game. Look out for updates amd finaly, the release!
Yeah, @Japster, Im with you on this one. I felt that it would be a bit boring, if you will, to only have that one mode. Ill make a gameplay vid of the second mode soon.
I had hoped to be done with this game already. You all know how it is. Work, kid, wife, home and everything else. I have so little time to focus on the game right now. But I'll get there, though! Just need to be optimistic. So hopefully its out this summer.
The game is pretty much done except for an In-game store, tutorials/hints, stats, achievements and a few other things... OK, who am I kidding. So the game is far from done...
Anyways, there are some short clips from the game on my Instagram account, "venerablerain" (which you all should follow) along with a few pics. I try to update it regularly.
So when I´m done with all the levels and the tutorials and the collectables and what not, I´ll make a trailer and post it here for anyone who´s interested.
Still working hard on this one! So this game has gone from a Q1 release to a Q3/Q4 release... (See the post above) Bummer! But here´s a pretty big update. The menu is pretty much done. Might add a couple of other things, like GC and maybe some kind of encyclopaedia page. Oh, and the In-game Store! Also, added collectables in all the different modes/levels that give you currency. I call them Light Bulps. Cuz they will give off a burpish, bubbly sound when collected. So its bulb+burp = bulp!
All the modes/levels are also pretty much done. The music too. But all the sound effects are yet to be made. But hope you enjoy this update vid:
Hey everyone! Its been ages since I updated this thread. But I´ve been as usual really busy with life, but been working on and off with LIGHTS. Its taking really good shape and I have yet to make tutorials for the last mode, then the game play is all done. Then I begin implementing whatever business plan I will go with, and make achievements and what not.
Im working on a website for Venerable Rain which I will show to you eventually. Anyways, here´s a new "coming soon" trailer for the game. Hope you enjoy!
So here´s my website I´ve bee working on. Its still a work in progress, but Im getting there. I will launch it without the WIX ads eventually, buying whatever package that suits me. Oh, and I have a couple of secrets somewhere in there where I plan to have promo codes or stuff like that for future games. Can you find the two secret pages?! So click on everything till you find it!
