That's interesting to hear. Do mean that games are loaded into iDevice memory a scene at a time, can you tell me please?

Glad you said that QS; I've also a skeleton idea/plot for a "serious" adventure game, (as well as Where Is My Spoon? although that concept seems to be morphing from adventure to.. er, not so much adventure).
The Secret of Grisly Manor is definitely added inspiration, Joe, thanks! Though, similar to QS, this particular project won't see the light of day for years, probably. For interest, I'm sourcing copyright-free 3D backgrounds in the spare moments; no way would I be able to emulate your 3D skills. I'm also really looking forward to playing your game (i'll steal my wife's iPhone...when she's got it for her Birthday at the end of July... :-)

I actually started mine a few years ago as an Interactive Fiction game (read: text adventure game). It may be a useful exercise to finish that too - but there's just not enough TIME.
It's called 'An(n)achronism', and takes place in just one location!
But back to Joe's game - any plans to make an iPad version? It would surely sit well on one of those babies!
@gyroscope: GS seems to load a Scene at a time. All the graphics that are placed into the Scene are loaded, then any additional graphics are loaded if you spawn them. Sound effects too. Going to a different Scene seems to flush it out.
@QS: It's just for the "older" iPhones and iPods right now. I'm kinda waiting until all these new graphics formats settle down a bit. Right now there is iPad, iPhone4, and everything else. I'd rather not make three sets of graphics, not to mention that none of those are the same size.
Also, right now Apple will reject the iPad version if it is exactly the same as the iPhone version. I have an iPad, and the game would work perfectly on it, but I would rather have it working on more devices.
That's fair enough, Joe. I can imagine, though, having the interface 'outside' of the main screen on an iPad.
So, your scene graphic is in the centre.
Then you have your movement graphics, and your menu, around the scene. Would work quite nicely I think!
But I do take your point about Apple wanting a point of difference between versions. It's a little harder (not impossible) to add extras to an adventure game
Again, good luck with it - look forward to giving it a go!

It looks absolutely lovely, and I think it'll work well on a mobile device. And a real departure from what you've done before!

Best of luck to you, sir! Looking forward to playing it!

Hopefully it will start to standardize soon...
