this forum's law

My friend was recently permanently banned from this forum over mildly rude comments.

Did you know this forum doesn't have free speech. You don't have to use vulgar language or anything, just don't do exactly what the moderators say and youre banned. Don't believe me? Chck out this thread where he gets banned for being
"less than excellent" to another user.

He told me the guy that banned him was named tatiang. He said tatiang seems to get a thrill out of asserting himself.

And to further illustrate the idiocy involved, you can view the thread yourself, as it was not offensive enough to delete, only to him banned.

I'm not sure of the name of this friend, but after viewing a recently closed thread, I can imagine who it may be.

I'm not going to get into this much because I want directly involved, but know that our moderators aren't perfect - nobody is. But they do a dang good job in my opinion. I can only think of one time (if that, really) where their decisions were rushed, but probably still justifiable. If you have an issue with the mods, you can take it up with the GameSalad staff or message the mods directly.

EDIT: Yes, thats th thread I was thinking of. He is not banned, just temporarily jailed.

You make a good point, if he don't like the rules he should appeal directly to gamesalad. But I personally am curious how the community feels about it and

I'd like to know if people knew about this "friendlyness" rule, where in, if you are found unpleasant you may be banned for your lack of cordiality?

@gamestew Your friend was warned by another moderator but chose to ignore that warning. He then received an official warning from me but also chose to ignore that and started to be abusive and threatening towards me. I've been nothing but respectful in my communications with him. And yes, he is now banned due to the nature of the private messages he sent me but had not been banned prior to that.

Please address further concerns about moderator behavior to GameSalad Staff at http://support.gamesalad.com.

They do if they've read the forum rules post:

    1. THE COMMUNITY HERE IS AWESOME. LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY. - In the words of Bill and Ted, “Be excellent to each other”. Please do not participate in name-calling, insults, verbal attacks, threats, general forum trolling, and/or harassment of other members or moderators (aka Sous Chefs). Most instances will get you a warning, followed by banination. However, if we determine the violation is gross enough, the banhammer will be thrown down immediately. Bans can range in duration from a week, a month or even permanent. Going forward you will likely receive a warning in the thread where the above "non-excellent" behavior took place. If the behavior persists, the ban hammer crashes down. If the ban expires and you continue to display the same behavior, the ban hammer will fly once more - and more often than not the result is permanent. In the event this occurs, a small descriptive post is available via the normal route to the forums explaining why you were banned. Bans, especially permanent bans, are not handed out for "no reason." Rest assured that if someone says that, there's much more to the story. Further inquiries/discussions regarding, "Why was I banned?" can be directed to community@gamesalad.com. Please also note that GameSalad reserves the right to enforce or amend these rules whenever necessary.
