@Lost_Oasis_Games Totally agree, I feel the same about the situation. If they would make a post every friday afternoon, with things they're working, some progress that has being made etc. would make me much more confident about the development of the tool and the team. Also I'm starting to spread my wings on different engines to get a glance of them. In particular I'm looking into GameMaker, because its a very powerful and well build tool.

That because you are looking at it as a software engineer and not a manager or customer. I don't ignore my customers and then say when they ask for a simple progress report, "hey dufus open your eyes." My customers don't know thing about electrical and I need to respect their lack of understanding of it and accept it as part of my responsibility to communicate in a way they comprehend. Not get pissed because they don't understand. You don't get very far doing that. Yeah my customers have millions on the line but that doesn't matter it's professional ethics and how you do business period. This is exactly why companies come hunting people that do this and not other who don't get it.
@Hopscotch That is true, and definitely a great step forward for the tool! However, many of us are wondering where the ship is heading besides getting more stable.

I hope they give us a surprise with custom collision/font/joints altogether on a single day
When the trapped Chilean miners - in the 2010 Copiapó mining accident - were located underground after 17 days one of the first problems the rescuers had was that the miners were starved of food, they each had been living on 1 spoonful of tuna and a few sips of water a day, totalling just 300 calories . . . once the initial probe had made contact with the miners via CCTV and telephone the rescuers could of course send parcels of food and water down the bore hole drilled for the probe, but because they had been so starved of features, sorry I mean food, there was a very real chance that the food they so desperately needed could kill them due to 'refeeding syndrome' (low blood serum phosphate levels that often trigger heart failure with a sudden influx of carbohydrates), so the rescuers had to slowly get their bodies used to food with the very very slow introduction of features, sorry I mean the slow introduction of nutrients, through glucose and vitamin drinks.
I worry about the same thing with a sudden introduction of features with GameSalad, changing the default text colour to black (the wrong choice in my opinion) was met with such enthusiasm (no State of GameSalad has ever attracted as many 'awesomes') that I suspect the introduction of two or three major features in the same release would kill a lot of members with underlying medical conditions.
@Lost_Oasis_Games, @Approw, I am not making excuses for GS not to bring out some summary report.
I just can't follow the doomsday prognosis. To me every sensible effort is made in the right direction.
If the change and track record of the recent past is still not enough to temper the community, then don't be surprised if the GS team says - "we tried, lets go find a real job"
I am not forecasting anything. I have no metrics to do that so where does that leave me? If you leave me in the dark after saying follow me this way and you stop talking, even though you're standing five feet away, I must assume you left and be thinking I better find my own way out. Or I'm thinking this guy doesn't know his way out either.

Do you feel having 23 versions has been advantageous over a lesser number that had more time spent of them ? Genuine question.
Yes, in the preceding months we had far less releases, each coming out of QA as a disaster. Anyone remember the long stretches last year where it was impossible to publish?
Now there is the possibility of faster iteration. No repeat cycles of waiting weeks for a version which is then still broken.
I haven't read so much nonsense in my life. Forum Ninja gave us regular updates and they were pointless. It's a GIVEN that the devs are working on bugs, updating the software we use.
Their recent output adds weight to that debate. Its extremely time consuming to gather information 'we are working x and y, with z coming soon' and since the GS staff aren't all working in a single office probably makes it even more difficult to gather said information.
The admins made a post a month or so ago about the change of focus, so that is as good as gospel without the need for weekly updates.
Like Balls? Then click here! We've 100 coming soon
So I belong to the ones here that are of a more positive note. In general I feel like the GS team are engaging in communication and are open minded.
Also, the progress made in device stability lately by the GS developers is truly amazing which says a lot about their prioritizations.
In 0.13.35 they fixed a long lasting bug that had resulted in bigger projects crashing on iPad2/iPhone4s/iPod touch5g (512MB) devices. I remember having that discussion (many many many months ago) with some other people here, also with bigger projects, that experienced the same issue. The issue got some heavy attention in the beginning but then died out and were never fixed... until 0.13.35 which magically brought back support for those devices.
Device stability should be a priority second to none and it feels like the team is finally recognizing that and is investing the (no doubt huge effort) that it takes to make the engine as stable as possible.
Now I'd also like to say that 0.13.36 is the most stable build since 0.10.4.1 and the recent introduction of the device platform attributes is so very useful and appreciated.
I hope that some of the GS team are on vacation right now because they truly deserves it.

Pretty sure it was 2 months ago (June 30th) unless I'm thinking of the wrong post ?

As others have said, no one is asking for a detailed manifesto, a continuation of the State of GameSalad posts would be great for those of us who (rightly or wrongly) have grown a little unsure about where things are going - I don't think it would take that long to post a brief update about their plans, you can type out a post in a few minutes.
In a week the new Apple TV with App Store will be announced and we'll forget all this as people clamour for GameSalad to support it so that people can plan to release games for the TV app store but never actually get around to doing so.

More likely they're hard at work fixing bugs! I personally get a little dismayed when they post too much as it means, like me, they're slacking off and browsing the forums rather than working!

Lol, agreed. If they post then they aren't working, if they don't post then they are trying to hide something !
You can speculate all day about what's happening in the office here if it makes you happy. I'd love to spend some time and give you more details. I might get to that this week. Will do my best. But, we're not having any problems here -- except having too much work and not enough shovels.
Oh and our revenue is doing fine, thanks! And we just landed another $1m in funding. Still going strong! More news soon!

Glad to hear this part. At this end of the day, this is what matters. No bucks, no Buck Rogers. I understand not being a public corporation you do not have to disclose these things, but glad to hear nonetheless. Looking forward to the years ahead. Good luck!

Have there really been 23 versions of creator since June the 30th ?

@Socks, Felter got toppled mid may. Yep, 23 versions since then, Mac only, so not counting all the work on Windows.
