    I can't find any documentation that explains the usage of the spawn actor behavior while using only negative values in the Y axis...

    basically, just spawn an actor with a negative Y position, but it will not spawn below zero (no negative value), it instead spawns at X=(value) and Y=0.

    * It's best not to unlock actors (e.g. your spawner actor) unless you have a very specific reason for doing so. Unlocking an actor creates an instance with unique rules that differ from the prototype

    I don't know how your game is supposed to work but you also might consider not spawning actors but just changing their alpha value to make them appear/disappear and then constraining certain attribute

    You could also pass that value on through the spawn's 'Direction' field without any need for attributes.

    The grid of squares would be spots I want an actor(s) to spawn. Would I need to start with the full grid of actors laid out like this? Or would it better to use tables to spawn them in certain places?
