GameSalad Creator 1.25.96 RC

Took us long enough...

This is a pre-release (hence Release Candidate) of GameSalad Creator 1.25.96, which should fix Mojave issues. Normal disclaimers apply: This may be unstable so back up your files before using this, save often, PM me bugs.

If you're curious, we had to wait until Apple fixed Xcode, THEN we could get to work figuring out the issues. Updates include:

  • Deployment target for macOS 10.12 (so that's effectively the minimum version).
  • Updates a bunch of deprecated code, which should prevent some problems in the future.
  • Changes the Expression Editor to different panel type, which means it's no longer dark grey, BUT it should correctly adjust for dark mode.
  • All the new resolutions from the web version.

We're also not quite ready to upgrade to Catalina to test this yet, so we may push an update if we find anything.

Until I set up the RC specific bug form, just PM me bugs.

    Build crashes once every 30 mins interacting with a couple of new actors on a fresh project, but I can't figure out why. If and when I can, I'll PM you.

    I actually had tears in my eyes reading it (and I'm not a cry baby), this is how much your work can affect people, Especially the ones who are deeply invested in plans that rely on GameSalad, your hard work really matter to us!.

    I tried the new version with very heavy files for 1 hours, (os: 10.14.6) so far so good :) (aside from Mojave dark mode messing up the UI (fonts turn to white, while Background remain white as well, instead of turning black)

    Based on those two comments and my own experience, it looks the problems that I'm hearing about are based around incompatibilities with older versions of macOS. I will take a look to see if there's anything I can do about that, but for now it looks like this build is on it's way to good. Also @Hypnorabbit please re-download. I put up a minor update that took out some errors. They don't seem related, but they are issues that might affect general memory management and performance so it might help with the issue you're seeing.

    Hah, i was looking for what that changed affected.

    We use this flag called "flipped" on certain UI images.

    XCode suggest we don't do that since it's often misunderstood and being deprecated. I started removing it and then realized why we did it (it's has to do with OpenGL).

    I guess I missed reverting for that image!

    It works great! It's a bit frustrating to see Mac Catalina get released shortly after this patch. I'm not upgrading till I hear from other people the compatibility of GS and Catalina

    Based on reports you shouldn't be upgrading to Catalina yet anyway. Seems to be a horrendously buggy release. Now this has update been released I've updated back to Mojave but I'll most likely be holding here until the .1 release.

    There are a bugs in when i try to Group a lot of rules in the same click.

    Moving behaviours and rules around can lead to unexpected results like the moved items appearing to stay where they were as well as moving, and if you try to move the "leftover" copy it moves something else.

    @adent42 Moving rules around is definitely broken at the moment

    Any update imminent? Otherwise will have to revert back to High Sierra in the next couple of days :(

    @Armelline good timing. Same link, download again. Not sure if it fixes all the issues (I don't make big enough test projects for too many cases), but I did get rid of some of the low handing sync issues and fixed an issue with the login panel (it's now sort of a modal window).

    As usual, give it a shot and DM me with issues.

    Rules appear to move correctly...
    (os: 10.14.6)

    Do you guys at GS realize that we're very close to have a Dark UI? as Mojave dark mode is properly changing all fonts front black to white, there are about 10 image files in Gamesalad to switch with appropriate switch code from white to black to make it a total dark UI B)

    I know this update was focused on Mojave but been using it on Catalina and seems to be working well so far also... Will update if anything comes up.

    @MusicBoutique thanks! I have avoided upgrading since I have a stable dev environment, but the good thing is that fixes for Mojave should address most of the Catalina problems as well.

    @blob As I was updating the widgets, I tried testing them in dark mode. I'm not sure why they aren't switching. The rest of the UI that you don't see adapting is because we're using custom gradients in those spots, so we'll need to remove them. I want to get this deployed for stability first, but I definitely want to back and fix for dark mode shortly after.

    Big problem with changing an actor to have a custom collision.. it practically crashes the gs developer

    Hello. Same link, new update. I haven't addressed any other issues, but since it was a relatively easy task to do between Thanksgiving dinner making task, I updated stuff for dark mode. The app is going to look a bit more, uh, streamlined, but hopefully I caught all the issues.

    I downloaded this version in hopes it would fix the choppy display text. Some reason it is fine on Explorer, but it is choppy on Chrome and Firefox. Any guidance is greatly appreciated towards fixing this.
