Ok let me get this strait, I have a pro version of GS and I just updated to 0.9. I did a test publish right now, and I noticed that the GS splash screen and jingle was added before my app. Did I do something wrong here, or now after paying $2000 I am forced to use the new GS splash screen and do da do da do jingle? If that is the case I want to down grade to the previous version. If I can't use GS with out the GS logo being slapped on all my apps then I'm going to have to drop GS all together.

Maybe you should read the other threads before you post :-P

Your PRO is now the free version.
Everybody updates to the free version.

If you have pro and want pro, you have to pay another 99 bucks :-P

I am happy, I didn't buy the pro before.

So you are saying that by updating I just killed my Pro option to not have a splash screen?

I just popped for the extra 99 for pro. If you're going to continue using Gamesalad and have an express account now, your crazy not to.

if you have an old pro account its good tell expired so just email them

No one have yet confirmed if the NEW Pro version also has a splash screen or not, they don't seem to mentioned the splash screen anywhere that I can see, so my guess is the PRO version also has the forced GS splash, hope not?
  • HunnenkoenigHunnenkoenig Member Posts: 1,173
You can just hope, that you can upgrade to pro for at least 10 years long :-)
But on the upgrade page it says, 99 for the first year. Exactly like for the pre express users.

So it seems, it is no difference if you were pro or express, you have to pay for 99 bucks to get pro.

Express users get it for 1 year. ExPro users should get it for at least a few years based on the ammount of money they paid compared to express users.

GAMESALAD, I need an answer here! Did you just kill my ability to publish with out the GS splash screen? I use GameSalad for clients of mine and there is no way I can have your logo on their apps! The whole reason I paid $2000 was to avoid the GS logo, hence the PRO! Now I have a logo and an annoying jingle every time I publish an app!?!

    What the hell is that!?

A jingle is a sound. Like in your radio, when they advertise their own station.

    Lalala, Radio Extreme....wooosh....

    that is a jingle.

@Hunnekoenig, but if I pay the $99 for the pro, then do I get to remove the splash screen? I really feel like this was a big bait and switch.

Upgrade for free today!! Fine print, but when you do we are taking away a pro feature you paid for. Oh wait, they didn't even put that in the fine print.

yes pro or not you get the GS game video at the start of your game
if your an old pro member you should not tell it expires
  • JCFordJCFord Member Posts: 785
I read it like Hunnenkoenig that all existing members are now on the FREE version and everyone has the option to upgrade to the Pro for $99.

They also mention that exPro users can upgrade at the end of their existing membershio, but they do not mention this for the exEXpress users - How long exactly will this upgrade offer last?

We need a yellow post to clear things up?

Custom splash screens are gone for everyone, both express and pro users!
  • TechnoDaveTechnoDave Member Posts: 103
Dear GameSalad team!!! You have just allowed me to upgrade to a new version which removes a Pro feature I paid $2000 for (No splash screen) I have used GameSalad on several high profile projects with great results, but now that you are forcing a splash screen on me, I need to STOP using gamesalad this very moment! I can not have you put your logo all over my clients apps!

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?! You just killed the Pro use of your software.

I told you, they will mess it up.

If I am pro, I don't want spalsh screen and jingle. Not even for 499.

For what I do have a pro?
    For iAd and linking ability?

There should be 3 options then.

    Free with everything
express with splash and iAd and link for 99
and pro without splash and with iAd and link for 499

and preExpress users should be able to upgrade to pro for 99 or keep the express.

exPro users should get pro and at least 2 free years.

TechnoDave, i have said twice now! its a ERROR email them and they WILL fix it!
  • TechnoDaveTechnoDave Member Posts: 103
    GameSalad Express $99
    GameSalad Pro $2000

Pulling a bait and switch on pro members and placing a splash screen in all your apps "PRICELESS"
  • WhyAreYouHereWhyAreYouHere Member Posts: 45
TechnoDave your doing your self no favours here. Its an error they will fix it. Your pro account will work like it did no problems. Just email them and stop posting the same thing.
  • YogamattaYogamatta Member Posts: 27
I really hope it's an error. But then again there is nothing about ability to customize splash screen on the new site.

@TechnoDave What do you mean $2000?

WhyAreYouHere - You are not listening! It's not about not having a splash screen till the end of my $2000 pro membership isn't the main issue here. The main problem here is that I am a professional using gamesalad to make apps for clients. If gamesalad is always going to have a splash screen then I can no longer use it as a professional tool. My clients wont allow it.
  • WhyAreYouHereWhyAreYouHere Member Posts: 45
I see, but thats not a bait and switch. new members signing up and even when you renew you will do so knowing the new settings. But i would email and tell them that you are making apps for clients. Im sure they have something in place for that ;)

What is this "customizing branding" mean from the faq then? You can add your custom brand after GS splash. That's silly

From the faq "Yes, if you sign up for Pro you activate GameSalad with a Pro membership allowing you to customize branding and URLs forwarding. Other Pro features like support for custom networking (read:custom), advanced analytics, and framework support are forthcoming."
  • YogamattaYogamatta Member Posts: 27
Allmost same problem here. I thought I'd use GS to create stuff for my clients. If splash screen is there I can't use GS. As simple as that. But once again - hope it's just a mistake.
  • TechnoDaveTechnoDave Member Posts: 103
WhyAreYouHere - Thanks for the advice, but I get the feeling you work for GameSalad. Would appreciate an official answer form the GS team.
  • HunnenkoenigHunnenkoenig Member Posts: 1,173
It IS a bait and switch.

The poor guy paid 2000 dollars for not having splash screen and having links.
Now he has to pay another 99 dollars to have links, but he still has splash screen.

Even if they take away the splash screen manually only for him (exPro members), he still has to pay an extra 99 dollars for having the other features.

That is clearly a not well thought out upgrade system.

Gendai always manage it to get their customers pissed.

If he doesn't want to pay 99 dolalrs, he has the free version for 2000 dollars. NICE!
