I see the same members here rooting for GS and just wanting them to step up and give us Game Center, and other features we've been asking for.
I intend to stick around and use GS because I believe in them as a product, and as a great tool. I think they have a LOT of potential, they just need to step up and give us the features we so desperately need.

Exactly! Take a look at the work that Wayne and Darren have been doing.
Can anybody say that they would be putting in the level of effort they have been into their tools if they didn't want to see it succeed?
Hmmm... I wonder if they made any headway with GS about integrating them into V1 of GS. Would be sweet!
butterbean said: I don't think as many people as we think, are leaving.
Actually, there are some days with very little posts which tells a lot! Right now, a few new names have come and starting to ask the same questions I've asked a few months ago but in the same time, the more experienced ones are weary of the future ... and they should be because if GS pulls the plug, we have no way of compiling on our own.
Generally, that should make new users weary that they do not own their work and the company who is in control just came in last at the wheelchair olympics.
Remember Hunnenkoenig? He was a capable developer ... gone! I'm sure there are plenty more who left without announcing

LOL, While I tend to agree with Photics too, I still have to think. I may just not be as easy as it seems. The video shows how to add it to and xcode project correct? Well if I understand correctly. with GameSalad we make our apps and it lays it all out in an .XML based project. Then we upload that to GameSalad and they convert it to their own secret lua based code which is then converted to an xcodeproject which is then compiled to an .app file and sent back to us. So while yes I think its absolute crap that we don't have this very basic feature and standard staple of todays iOS games. the way GS has gone about bringing us drag and drop coding has possibly made it far more difficult to implement these features. Just a thought. Certainly not trying to Defend GameSalad here since they have not made good on the whole we're gonna communicate more and give you a road map thing. I just feel its important to try and look at all sides of an issue.

Basically, the code IS the engine. Which then calls the xml files etc.
So if we had the code, we would basically have the source for the GS engine
(that's as I understood it)
Exactly my thoughts. How the engine is itself the xcode project that is set up to call xml files, then we we send our projects to the server to get published it takes that xcode project, loads the xml into the xcode project file directory that can then be read by the engine coded in xcode and then buiult off our provisiong profiles and then sends back to us. So like you said we would have the source code and they woudl be screwed. There not hiding anything.
Again im not expert on xml so i could be wrong, but that seems like they do something similar along those lines
Getting back to the original subject of the thread, I agree completely with photics on everything he said in the opening post. There really is no good reason why its taking so long for us to see GameCenter, and shame on Gendai/GameSalad for all the broken promises and lies.
I work with a lot of coders, of varying capabilities, and I think I can safely say that any of them, would have managed to implement GameCenter by now... lets face it, its been months, and months now.
I dont know.... I'd be willing to bet money on Darren and Wayne having it implemented within a week easily if they were given the contract to do so... Im pretty sure they'd relish the challenge.
(disclaimer: Im not actually speaking for Darren & Wayne... so no hassling them please. Im just stating that I think competent coders should be able to implement it into the code if given it as a priority task).
I can't help but notice that a Head Chef hasn't posted anything on this thread. If there was EVER a time for that more communication thing GS promised, it would be NOW!
plus, at this point adding new features probably worsens the already huge problem that memory leak causes?
My curiosity lies in IF the memory leak has been addressed because as it is now, over 50% or time spent with GS is waiting waiting waiting. I hope you all realize the sometimes, restarting is not the answer, especially if one is tracking down an issue.
GS reminds me of a family that purchases a holiday package on line but then deletes all the emails from the travel agency! WHY of WHY was there no community manager hired?
This is about community but without a head, it's just random voices ....
>>>I can't help but notice that a Head Chef hasn't posted anything on this thread. If there was EVER a time for that more communication thing GS promised, it would be NOW!
I'd imagine that if you have nothing to say that calms the storm combined with the stress level in the office .... he is not in an easy position! The thing is that this mess could have so easily been avoided by simply spell a bean now and then.
I would not want to be in their shoes ... it cant be easy
Makes me wonder why they sponsored that last game event?
I've been considering applying for the UX Designer position at Gendai Games but thinking about dealing with the community who would always be mad at me even if it wasn't my fault scares me.

GS did hire someone for that job, last year. No doubt he'll come on at some point, crack a joke or two, tell us communication is their top priority, GameCenter is their top priority, and getting us lots of new features is their top priority... he'll not actually tell us anything new... and it'll leave everyone happy and leaving praise at how good it was to see the yellow post.
To be fair though... I guess he's not the one making all the strange decisions, hes just the one that has to try and placate the crowd.
@GamersRejoice I think you should apply! Don't worry about what the community says .... they don't!
Besides, you could hang out by the pool all day and night, play poker as long as you want, play games, finger paint, take singing lessons .... I picture their headquarters as a fun place that puts google to shame. I think they are the ultimate party animals ... probably sitting in front of a HUGE screen in the lounge ... betting on who makes the next stupid post

That's the video.
I woke up this morning and I was wondering what project I should work on next. I'm a bit disappointed with "Secret Admirer". I didn't have high expectations for that project, but it shows me that I have to create something exceptional. Otherwise, my app won't stand out in the crowd.
(I stopped development on BOT as the project is just too big. I don't have enough content for it right now.)
So, I was trying to think of new ways to make my apps more noticeable. Game Center is one possible way. So, I started thinking that I could redo Photics: Revisions with Game Center support. Since the app is mainly a UIWebview app, I'd have to recreate the way the text is displayed. Surprisingly, I think that's harder to do than add Game Center support.
Before watching the video, I thought Game Center was the hard part.
It would be fun to use GameSalad to create this app. But unfortunately, it doesn't have Game Center support... or robust text management... or universal binary support.
So now, it's a tough decision. Do I wait for GameSalad to catch up or do I use Xcode? I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

I like the GameSalad team.
Stay out of community relations, and stay off the forums, and you should be able to avoid the wrath of the community.
quantumsheep said: And there-in lies the problem. My personal opinion is that they're more interested in GameSalad the brand, as opposed to GameSalad the tool.
Which would be absolutely the wrong way to go about things.
I hope .9.1 will come out asap, but I wouldn't like it if there is a lot of bugs in it. I start to use GS when it is.8.9, there has only one update in more then half years, in this speed, GS will have 1.0 come out in 5 years? that is insane. What are the head chef doing ?eating salad at home?

People have already left! and are still leaving.
Or at least diversifying into using other SDKs alongside GS.
The few that have gone and are going, probably out-weigh the majority of users though...so not a big one in the grand scheme of things I would guess.
I like GameSalad. This is an easy way improve the software.

Or, maybe they should just hire Wayne outright...

Oh wait, it's not 2012 yet.
EDIT:
QS please check you PM
So GS DOES create an Xcode project server-side or? I wonder why GS doesn't want us to view the generated Xcode project.

I don't think that is the "pause" function we want to see
Do you get the source code for windows 7 from MS ?
GS is not Linux
