    @creativeapps: thanks for the constructive crit, really appreciate it! That's what those forums are all about i guess, although i don't get as many of those constructive crits as i would like.. good to know what other people think about your work..

    As for the menu goes, i like my designs to be as clean as possible, just my style i guess.. the buttons are animated, so when you click them they resize and rotate a little bit, the rays behind the penguin are rotating slowly, and penguins are blinking, so, there are few things happening in the menu so it will not be boring.. :)
    And the whole game is meant to be a little bit darkish :)

    But i really appreciate the honest comment!

    UPDATE:



    Still a long way to go, but it's becoming a real game..
    TODO:
    - another type of enemy (flamethrower? :D )
    - miniboss at the last platform (three penguins under one armour shooting big projectiles..)
    - make level longer (that means more enemys!!! can GS handle it??)
    - balance everything (power-ups and enemy shoot rates and stuff)
    - a lot more..

    okay let me get the sickly adulation out the way first :D ... man you rock .. art/gameplay/theme all look top notch.

    I wanted to help however so I dug deep to find anything I could comment on that might help so here goes:

    1. The end cave .. thought it would be better if the hero entered it to end the level .. appears at the moment to pass in front
    2. Not a fan of the music it is a bit sharp sounding to me. I think I saw in a previous post where you like the 'dark' direction this game is going so wondered if a more cinematic soundtrack, a little broody might work better. (*disclaimer: I am 45 so my tastes might suck compared to your target audience .. however the comment might spur others to support or redirect the soundtrack issue to a place where it does help you).

    Lastly just a thought: As some fun alternatives could the cave detour above or below the basic horizontal ... maybe with a special collectable in a side cave and perhaps an underwater cave level where the jet becomes a thruster?

    simo103: WOWWW, the idea about the detour is really awesome!!!! randomly put a detour up or down every X level as a bonus!! REALLY COOL IDEA!!!!

    The end cave is product of last few hours :) so, not really there.. i know the penguin flies above it.. i need to work something out cause its really hard to fake something to pass into the tunnel!! Harder than it seems! :)

    As far as music goes, i know it is very specific type of music :) i like it but i know lot of others dont.. it is just temporary though, end music will be in the same style - 8bit - but not that harsh..

    thanks ... I'm jumping between a few projects as this is a hobby so that one is likely months away.

    how do you set the 'artboard' size in flash when exporting as a series of png's. when i try the dimensions and dpi are always constrained to each other any ideas?

    slev: i actually do everything about 2x the size or even larger - that way i have source files big enough if i need character bigger for some reason.. then i export frames as PNGs to PS and do cropping, resizing and other stuff there..

    iTouchGamer: no, the penguin can't land - the platforms are toxic (or otherwise dangerous for some reason)! :)

    image this is the problem in my setup! :) in the middle it works, but the penguin can pass from top or bottom, but doing this picture i realised that i probably just need to put two colliders to prevent this.. thanks again! :)

    naaaah! at first i meant to make a regular platformer when you can stand on the platforms and run and jump and fly.. but for now he can just fly! that way i got the gameplay where you HAVE to move forward constantly since you are running out of fuel and fuel is always just FORWARD! :) so, move forward, shoot as many evil penguins as you can, avoid falling icicles.. in general, don't get killed!

    Yeah, all you need to do to fix the tunnel problem is to add two invisible actors, and tell them to collide with the actor... Also, I just wanted to mention that everything looks great!! The only thing I would change is the music (I'm 15... so maybe closer to your target audience), which you said you were changing. Also, I would say allow the penguin to land on the platforms, because it would allow the user to go on for longer (aka they would enjoy your game more)...

    Haha yea I understand it now. Seems like the right choice.

    I don't think you should be able to land on the platforms. It creates a fast, forward moving game that I think would be more fun.

    ozboybrian: sure, that's the first item on my todo list, im thinking one that will have body like existing ones, just a fuel tank on the back and flamethrower instead of a gun.. maybe a red stripe somewhere :) he's range will be shorter but if he will get you, you'll get burned - bad! :)

    But i think this last video will be may competition entry, wont have time to do anything more thill 2nd of april :)

    I am really impressive with your graphics. You are outstanding 10/10. Somehow as graphic artist I feel that menu is not matching with current game play. So Its just my opinion. I am apologize for that.

    @okimoki : The game looks brilliant, well done!

    Maybe it would be cool if the penguin could also land on the platforms :)

    Btw, you might want the replace the "Nazi" (name) for something else? Afaik nothing with that name is allowed to be sold (or spoken of?) in Germany :P

    InfusedDreams: thanks! the names has been allready changed to Invasion of Killer Robot Penguins.. Not because of the Germany thing, i explained why in previous posts.. I would leave it Nazi, i dont care for sales.. If people wouldnt buy them just because the enemys are Nazi Penguins, thats their problem.. i just saw the blog of some guy that collects everything Nazi, including games that has Nazi in their names.. and THAT is not what i want, to be featured on pages like that! ;)

    BTW, penguin will not be able to land on the platform as i explained earlier, it would take away from the gameplay i wanted - penguin MUST move forward to survive..
