    That would suck..

Maybe they can make bundles. like iAds and game center for $100 a year.. or custom splash screen and links for $100.. and if you want every pro feature pay the $500..

but lets hope that they keep Game Center free..

I think it should be a pro feature. How else is GameSalad going to keep the lights on? The pro features are lacking...

    • No splash screen (Nice)
    • iAds (Next to useless)
    • OpenURL (It has some uses)

If it is going to be a pro feature, they should let people know that BEFORE the feature is launched.

    Very likely a pro feature.

I really hope I don't have to pay more money for pro. Gamecenter could really help out the games that are lacking and the ones that are causing GameSalad's bad reputation as a developing tool. Plus, as you probably already know, a lot of good games have been made without Pro that could use Gamecenter.

That's exactly why it should be a pro feature. If a bunch of lousy GameSalad games get Game Center, it will tarnish the feature and make it less useful.

that sucks, im 13, have no money, and im expected to get pro :/

Alright, maybe you do have a point. Still, it just kinda sucks - I was really excited for Gamecenter and was just starting to plan some games that could use it to full effect. I don't mean to be selfish though, and I definitely agree with the business side of things seeing as Pro doesn't offer too much incentive for the average Joe.

I think your underestimating the power of the openURL behavior. If you get a couple thousand downloads of a free game with a link to all your apps, that my friend is a very powerful thing. But I agree with you on the most part, I mean there sin't much that really sets the free and pro versions substantially apart (especially with the hefty price tag). As much as I would want this feature to be free for all of us I know it wont be.

    Aaaaa well!

Wouldn't they have mentioned it before, rather than disappoint people afterwards?

I think the Pro price should be lowered to $299 or $249. The current price is too high.

gotta disagree. The price is bang on. (It was too much back in the day!)

Now if only there were more features in the Pro.

im happy as long as the free one has leader boards :)
when i get lots of money then i will be getting pro :)

I love making games with GS. I hate the idea of trying to learn to code. For that reason alone I want GS to make money, otherwise there will be no GS. If they are going to continue to have a free version then they need to beef up the pro version to make money. For that reason I hope they make it pro only. Maybe then more people will switch to pro which will help GS stick around longer.

    I second that, I hope it's pro-only too

IMO its better if they charge everybody $100.00 - $199.00. That way the crappier games stop being published and we get our good reputation back :).

The software can still be free but when its time to build that's when you'll need to pay for a pro account.

It makes sense that if I already paid for the software and made an "investment" I would want to make a great game to get back the money invested. ergo more great games.

I think all new features besides performance issues should be pro only. Game Salad really needs to make a huge margin between the free and pro subscriptions. You can make a great game with the Free version. Pro needs to be focused on monetizing those great games as well as creating even more complex games. If they don't make Pro far more feature rich they are going to have a hard time keeping peoples pro accounts. $500 is a perfect price as soon as it includes more.

If you can't make $500 in a year you have no business going pro in the first place. I think that $500 is perfectly priced. I just worry that GS isn't going to make enough money to survive. $6mil in investment is great but it's an investment. These investors want a return on their investment. That means GS needs to have money coming in. Right now that means pro subscriptions. IDK, maybe they have some other way of making money that we don't know about yet, but I just really want GS to be successful as I love the software and the community.

definatly pro only. Agree with scitunes, if you can't afford pro, then in all fairness you probably aren't who the pro package is aimed at.
  • steve86steve86 Member Posts: 806
Yes but if you lower the prices and remove all the free users. More people will buy GS PRO and GameSalad will make more money and loose the reputation being associated in some cases to bad unfinished games. Because the 99% of those games are made with free accounts.

I know $500 its a good price you need less than 2 sales a day to recover your investment. That can be done very easy. I gladly payed 500 bucks.. But a lot more people will buy pro if it was priced a little lower and you remove the free accounts.

As scitunes said. Game Salads got to make money. the way to do that is to make pro so valuable its hard not to get it.

I think you need to charge $100 for the now free accounts and leave pro where it is. And actually a lot of the template publishing pricks have pro accounts. i've seen several of them that have iADs.

$100 will get rid of the half finished game people and is pro is valuable tons of people will shell out $500 for it.

Exactly but you make it valuable by adding awesome features not lowering the price.
If you lower the price you will have more people making crap half finished games loaded with iAds and links to all of their other crap games

Maybe just leaderboards for free users ? that would work for me.

Ya the price is perfect. It use to be 2000.00 so 500 is a deal!

    cheers

2000$ a year or a one time fee of 2000 Id raither pay a 1 time fee of 2000 than a ever lasting 500 a year. But that my opinion
