Hello everyone,

I am making an app titled "Why the Bible is True" it will be an app that provides facts on why the bible is true and will have a link to a free bible app to download. I would like to spread gods word and think this is a great opportunity to do so. What does everyone think? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Will the app just be a blank screen?

    ;)

On a more serious note, I think you'd do best to make this free as you'll reach more people that way.

    Cheers,

    QS :D

I don't really find the first comment funny. I am going to make it free, I was thinking the same thing about getting more downloads. I am not making this app to make money. I just want to spread gods word.

Who would it be marketed at? i doubt many non-believers would download it as the evidence for god not existing is vast and available on news and science sites around the world for everyone to see.

What would be good would be the guys who run that 'gods mistakes' site to make an app providing some conversation points for religious discussion: http://www.freewebs.com/oolon/SMOGGM.htm

I believe the app will be downloaded. God will not let this app fail. Many of my other free apps get at least 100 sales downloads per day. Even if I got 1 download per day, I would be happy. Thats one person that read the information and may become a christian.

i'm not trying to be funny, just saying, you don't need to convince people why something is true when IT IS true.

so perhaps you can change the name so it will spark the interest of people who think otherwise... if someone doesn't believe it's true they won't download the app in the first place.

the idea is to communicate that we are loved when we don't deserve to be, and not if the bible is true or not..

    anyways just my thoughts..

Well, I'll admit I'm a little bothered by your logic. First, God lets things fail ALL THE TIME. Things don't go right just because you say God is on your side. As a simple example, why would God guarantee the success of your app, but allow natural disasters? The bible teaches humility, and it seems quite arrogant that you would assume your interpretation of the bible (which is biased, as is every interpretation) would be successful because "God will not let this app fail". Besides, have you every considered that a clumsy attempt at an app could actually turn people away? The app would have to be perfect for me to have a clear conscious, and even then, I would recognize that the lessons I draw are skewed by my own bias, and the words written in the Bible, though inspired by God, were also penned by men just as biased as we.

I could go on all night... but this is a GameSalad forum. I probably would have encouraged you right up until "God will not let this app fail".

his logic is correct, it won't fail because he's has a different interpretation of what failing means.
  • ultimaultima Member, PRO Posts: 1,207
no one believe because they came to a logical understanding of the truth. they believe because they realize how arrogant they are to think otherwise, and even if they argue with you all day and night you still spend time to love them back. so perhaps you can make an app that tell these stubborn guys that you love them despite of what they think and say to you and that God loves them regardless if they think the bible is true or not. (you did ask for our opinion, so there's mine)

I am rather proud of being a moderately evolved monkey/fish cross, but feel my parents could have been a bit more competitive in the rutting stakes so I understood all this.

The biggest problem with your idea is that there is no real evidence that the bible is true, you are just asking asking us to take your word for it (or the people you link to). It might be enough evidence to you personally, but non believers will need a lot more than that. This is not the way to spread Gods word. But since I'm not a believer myself, I don't have any pointers to what to do instead.

Anyway, good luck with whatever app you decide to make.

This thread is already starting to go off the rails. This is not the place to discus whether the subnet is real or not. There are plenty of other places to open that box.

As far as an app idea, do what you want. I'm sure there are already a bunch of similar apps, but I also think you'll get some downloads.
  • MegapixelIdeasMegapixelIdeas Member, PRO Posts: 476
I don't think that there are many similar apps. I looked and couldn't find any. That is why I am making this app. I appreciate some peoples support even though they are not fond of the idea. Anyone that wants a free copy in the future can have one. I will post the link when the app is on the app store.

Ultima, I like your idea of a different name to get more people to download it. I possibly might change it.

great idea. because you can argue for the rest of your life and people who don't believe you still won't =) it's not you that's doing the work if you know what i mean.
  • MegapixelIdeasMegapixelIdeas Member, PRO Posts: 476
I know what you mean. It is god doing the work and getting people to download the app.

    I love God!
    Oh sorry, I mean't - I love beer!

I always get those two mixed up! Silly me...

No god does not use Gamesalad. But if he thinks that it is a good Idea to make a "Why the Bible is true app" then he will certainly help the downloads of the app.

you talk in a very strange way about god , you seem that can predict what he's gonna do .... when you do something good, you "Hope" that god will help you , not being certain that he will .
  • MegapixelIdeasMegapixelIdeas Member, PRO Posts: 476
Yes, no one can be certain what god is going to do. But I am very certain that god will let more people download this app because it will lead more people to hopefully follow him.
  • hich4mhich4m Member, PRO Posts: 142
you said no one can be certain , but you are certain ....sorry that doesn't make sense for me ...
just a word of advice , with this attitude you will make people run away .
if you want people to follow you :
    -be logic
-be as less fanatic as you could

and you cannot "hack" god :) , saying that you will make a religious app , then god will increase the downloads .

sorry last post from me need to sleep :)

i love the idea. i am going to be starting a religious game soon. i announced it a few weeks ago called paper crusaders. Good luck with the app and God Bless =D

Lol! I think this is too religious for the App Store, and I have serious doubts that anyone would pay for this.
  • ultimaultima Member, PRO Posts: 1,207
he's talking about free app... just like your parents gave u free meals.. it's just free.

apple is a religious cult... so u can't have something too religious be on something that's already too religious lol... besides i don't think this dude is "religious" anyway.
  • m456arcusm456arcus Member Posts: 189
Still, I doubt anyone would download something like this. And, saying that god will make your app successful? God has nothing to do with it, it's the content of your app that will turn people away.
  • synthesissynthesis Member Posts: 1,693
    @rodh100

There are plenty of religious apps on the appstore. Many are free and many are not. Some are successful...and most are not...just like any other genre on the app store.

There are many Christians with iPhones and iPods.

The idea sounds fine to me and so does the title. The success of the app will be dependent on the same elements that make any app successful. those being:

Does the app fit a need or want of your target market?
    Is the app engaging?
Is the app polished (well done)?

If your heart leads you to build this app...then do it.

Understand though...you are targeting a niche sector of the app market so do not expect to be a top ranked app overall. But none the less...there are still many users out there that have an interest in religious content.

my friend, faith by definition means to have no doubt =) and i think that's something that he obviously have a lot of... i'll bet you a million dollars that at least 1 person would download this app haha.. anyway i think this post has getting to become a point of view war that it's not even worth talking about... i mean what's the point if we are just gonna talk about if God will help him or not... it's not like that's something we can verify. that's the same as guys at bar talking about "let's see if Einstein agrees." "nah, i don't think he will agree because this and that"... it's all drunk talk...

and to the guy above my post.. i wanna play that game in your icon =)
