"Make a game in 72 Hrs" Game Development THREAD, Feedback Appreciated

Ok, so I've decided after much thought that my first game will be a simple "Breakout" type game. I have no REAL experience in GameSalad so I figured this would be a great starting point, since the last time I coded anything I was 13. I am now 24. lol, so 11 years later I've returned to the games. Lets see how it goes. What do you guys think ? Good idea or no ? I figured getting my feet wet is the best way to learn and REALLY get involved with GS. I've WATCHED a lot of videos and finally I said "Oh what the hell, just do it"...

So with 5:30 hrs to go before I start this EPIC QUEST I gotta say Im pretty pumped !! I also don't know if 72 hrs will be enough time for a newbie like me, but I'm planning on making a fairly small and simple first game , lets see how it goes !!

UPDATE TIME !!

So after 4 and a half hours I've finished up the Main Screen, Instruction Screen and main play area. Its taking me a little longer than i thought but I'm following tutorials and whatnot. Here are the screen shots

I realize the graphics and art SUCK ( other than the monsters/aliens, but that credit goes to http://dapitangraphicscorp.com/ ) but Im NOT, i repeat, I'm NOT trying to make the next BESTSELLER. Im just trying to familiarize myself with GS and what it can do. When it comes time to my REAL game, I'll probably pay someone for art cuz i can't draw

I decided that i would go ahead and follow you on your journey of 72hrs Heres my go at it so far.... It is based off a template but i added my own art and COMPLETELY customized the gameplay!

@David_gryphonsrealm -- You asked how to get a rotating earth. One very easy way to do it is to have a flat texturemap of the earth and move it horizontally behind a black mask (with a hole cut out of the middle).
