It will be a good match. Both teams are evenly paired in terms of physical strength and characteristics but we should be a little better on the technical part and England is slightly better on the team part.

It could be one of the best matches in the Euro 2012. FORZA ITALIA!!!

We're doing alright. Might be able to nick this! (England!)

89th minute and scoreless...strong attacking match! Just a pleasure to watch!

Still, such an intense game...it's sad one team will go home today.

Cruel way to go but the better team prevailed

What is it with English and penalty shoot outs? They just can't seem to be able to win them. Sorry to see them go...

@etzer - My money is on Spain and Germany going through to the finals. Just the clearer winning teams. Even though I did expect more from the French and Greece tried their best... I am still not convinced by Portugal - put a good, really good defender against Christiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese goal scoring machine stops. I didn't see last nights game so Italy is a bit of a question mark. It should be good semi finals - let's hope we see some decent football...

It's about time we rebuilt the team from the ground up imo.

Get rid of the old timers that no longer have the speed and fitness to take us forward.

Andy Carroll and Oxlade chamberlain..more of those type of players is what we need.

    Darren.

I was so wasted yesterday, I had about 10 pints of beer and about half a pint of scotch :)

That was a really good match. It was totally dominated by us and the score could have been humiliating if our players found where the goal was :)

Luckily we managet to win it with the penalties. Losing such a game would have been a great waste.

Germany still remains the favorite but if we play like we did yesterday we can stand a chance ( but only if we are able to score more goals) :)

    Hmm....

I'm not entirely sure you'd be typing so well today if that was true.

He he. Loving your templates, btw Darren. Will definitely be purchasing a few things once I've learnt the basics of GS.

Luckily I still have a good recover ability for what concerns alcohols, and 10 hours of sleep certainly helps :D

I watched the game last night, and England just didn't perform, and did not deserve to be in the Quarters (I really shouldn't complain, I am a Welsh man, Wales are never in big competition :P).

But I agree with you, England need to get rid of the old timers, and play the younger ones that have more skill and speed. Hodgson seemed to be afraid to drop some players, playing with the same team almost every time (except Rooney, who was banned for the first 2 matches)

I can imagine the following team being more exiting:

    GK - Hart

Def - Micah Richards, Lescott, Jones or Terry , Baines

Mid - Walcott, Wilshire, Parker (I reckon he is a great player) ,Milner

    Fwd - Rooney, Carroll

Subs: GK (undecided), Smalling, Ash Cole, Carrick, Henderson, Young, Welbeck

Just watched the Spain v Portugal game and it was a tight one.

Why didn't Ronaldo take an earlier penalty instead of going 5th and ultimately missing out on taking one?

I didn't enjoy too much the Spain vs. Portugal match. Too few shots to the goal and too tactical.

I'm happy that Spain won tough, it's good for a high profile final. However I think that the final winner will come from tomorrow match, the Spain I saw in this competition didn't impress me too much.

Because he is a prima donna and in his mind he wanted to shot the decisive penalty. Too bad for him he didn't have the chance :)

I actually really liked yesterday game. Not a lot of hot moments, but overall the quality of game was really really high and that why it was pleasant to watch.

That was an epic match and probably one of the best matches so far in Euro 2012. It was a well deserved victory, we played with all our might and obliterated that look of superiority the germans had.

I stated yesterday that the winner of this championship would come out from this match. After seeing Italy playing this evening I confirm my prediction. Spain won't stand a chance.
