Why don't you personally make a post about it on your website? You know, wishing everyone good luck and happy developing, as well as transitioning to the purpose of TOTGB and stuff.
@stormystudio - Thank you! I plan to hold one every season. I appreciate you holding off on totgb for now until it's over. I would absouletley love to have this contest setup on your site. It would be great for users to discuss the contest.
@BluePrintGames - Yeah no problem, just send me an email that you are entering.
You ask a good question. We are actually going to be using the same rubric as used in TOTB contests. I have the download link for you and all others who want to see it below. All platforms are welcome as well.
extending on Dimensionscope's question, we don't have to make a full game right? just a couple pics (menu, gameplay) and a short vid of the basic game?
I just wanted to know where everyone was? What they did? I got the idea, made the menu, started the level select and I made the 5 first levels.
Good luck to all.
Ekelrock and I have completed the initial design process. We have implemented: the main character's base functionality and physics; what I like to call my "Level Lifecycle System" which allows me to handle things at specified states of the level; the scoring system (points/"Star" systems); and we are about half-way through the setup of the "base" level, a template from which all other levels will be created. Level implementation will not begin until tomorrow, once we have completed the menu system, which includes the main menu and the level start/end menus (and everything else that goes into game flow).
We are very proud of where we have reached so far, and we are extremely excited to see all the great games that come out of this competition! Is anyone planning to release their game at the end of this contest? This will be our first (completed) game, and if things go well, we just might do it (after a few extra days of fine-tuning of course)... I was just wondering if anyone else might be planning on doing the same...
Good luck to everyone! I can't wait to see what folks come up with!!
Thanks for the green light Ventora Studios, this looks to be shaping up very nicely indeed.
I've setup a group for all contestants of the VS7 GameSalad contest to easily blog and share your progress. You can also use the great instant chat thats built in 'Facebook style' at my new Indie Developer site 'Think Outside The Game Box' (its now 1 week old...bless).
As well as sharing your progress with fellow contestants it also means developers from other software engines will see what your up to which may well get them interested in your projects and the GameSalad engine. The site is all about sharing original game ideas and showcasing the talent of indie developers of all ages and skill levels.
Anyway, I hope some of you fancy joining in the discussion. I'll see you over there if you do.
Sounds great my friend! I know I will be over there a lot this week, so if anyone wants to talk to me you'll know where to look. Thanks again for setting up this great page! Your site really is out of this world I couldn't resist..
@VentoraStudios Can I send you the video the 18th by email and you can put it on the forums the 20th because I will be on holyday the 19th till the 3rd and I won't be able to publish it (there won't be internet connection)?
The deadline of the 20th is the latest someone can submit there video of the game they made. If your game is ready on the 18th, by all means, upload it to this thread. There is nothing preventing you from posting the game whenever you finish it.
Sorry if I have not been clear enough. You need to make a thorough video of your game in action. You may also include screeenshots, but it isn't required.
I know the deadline is Friday the 20th, but is there a specific time, or is it all the way until 11:59pm on Friday? And please be specific with the time zone...I'm in EST, and I'm sure everyone else is not...
And also, I just want to thank you for putting on such an awesome contest, VS. It inspired what I consider to be a really good game from me and ekelrock...even if we don't win the contest we fully intend to publish the game (likely after a few additional days of fine-tuning). Thanks to you and all the folks involved for providing friendly competition, and fostering creativity!!
okay...im kinda stupid VS, so you'll have to forgive me...but when you say Friday at midnight, you mean one minute after Thursday @ 11:59PM, right? So Friday at 12:00AM...exactly 7 days after the contest began, correct? Again, sorry for bugging you...I just want to be absolutely certain...

Could we have a rubric of some sort? Also, does it have to be a specific platform (like the Gamesalad Arcade) or can it be anything?
Thanks!

@SteakSauce - You can make whatever you both want, like I said, it can be as complete or incomplete as you wish. There are no requirements about this.
