edited July 2014 in Working with GS (Mac)

Hi Guys,

Following a move of house I took a little bit of time away from GS, but now I'm back and have been working on a new title. The game is an ambient puzzle game with no set way of completing levels. Its of a minimalistic art style and quite frankly, i'm really enjoying it :) All of the game you see thus far is created on one scene so there is absolutely no load times!

  • Due to the screen recorder, the audio is a little laggy on sound effects!

I have lots planned for this as you progress and will be using (roughly) a level difficulty that see's a new feature introduced every 5 levels as an easy level, the next 4 progress in difficulty and then drops back down for the new feature. This way it should keep users entertained and provide a nice learning curve.

Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers

I like the game! It looks like something that get people thinking, which I think anyone who plays games like a little challenge.

If you're going to put in-app purchases in your game, you should have one to where you can see like, 1 or 2 of the colors that disappear for $0.99.

If I can suggest something, the intro, where you click play, is too fancy...It's like, something you'd see at a luxury hotel, not necessarily a game...I'm not sure if that's the theme you were going for or not...
Otherwise, looks good! Keep up the good work! :);)

Thanks for your feedback. The idea is that it will progress, will have you think about how to complete the level but have many possible ways!

I won't be putting in-apps in the game at all, not really a fan of that! If I ever drop it on to the store for free i might add in-app then for certain things.

As for the intro, your comment on the luxury hotel made me lol. It certainly wasn't what I had in mind when creating it but it was more just something simple haha

Thanks mate, all the lifting work has been done now so levels are easy to create and quick! Just a couple of table cells here and there :)
I've been wanting to use a reverse concept for a while, just never come across the right idea for it

Very nice ! Great sound too, my only suggestion would be to put the sound effects in the same key as the music.

Wow! Can't wait to try this game.

    The gameplay seems refreshingly unique.

love the game, the gameplay looks very fun and addictive, but for some reason the font you're using just doesn't gel for me. it's too 'fancy' for such a minimalistic game. I would see how a thin weighted simple font would look.

The still video frame made me think it was like a game I've been working on a bit. However, after playing the video I see this is totally different. I really like this though, looks neat. Great job.

I have no idea what key either is in. I had the music done custom for this and just picked up a couple of sound effects on a stock site. I just change the pitch per target hit. I agree it would be best if it properly fitted but don't know what it is lol

I like the font for now, maybe not so big with complete and fail screens. I'll experiment with a few different fonts before I release though and see how I feel. Thanks

yea it was the level complete font that caught my eye, maybe it was just too big compared to the game name? I was thinking about it last night, and on the other side I can see how it is the perfect kind of font since it actually mimics what you are doing in the game. so who knows, I never claimed to know anything anyway :)

If you send me the sound effects (I can reference the music in your video) I can work out the correct pitch for them if you like, it'll only take a couple of minutes.

Fantastic concept for a game, and really like the ambient music in the background, really sets a nice mood for the game. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one :)

Haha I will have a play with reducing size and see how that fits, I think it'll be better, also if the transparent black covers the whole screen rather than just having it as a band.

    Thank you Neoman!

It's all coming along nicely now! Just been ironing out a few bugs and tweaking the sizing of font on level complete or failed screens. It's now a bit smaller and the black transparent screen now fills the whole screen and now the band just in the middle, looks much better in my opinion and think I'll be sticking with that for the font side of things.

I'm now roughly a 5th of the way through the levels and the the complexity of the levels is starting to ramp up with more death and targets to collect.

I have a few ideas going forward to keep the levels interesting so looking forward to delving into these :)

The gameplay in this reminds me of something I've seen or done, yet I'm not quite sure what it is. Forcing myself to look really hard during an eye examination, all the time hoping my vision is getting better and not worse? Being at a magic show and wondering what I just missed seeing? Driving on a lonely highway on a hot summer day focusing on the horizon and the mirage (water) I seem to be seeing? Lying on the grass at night after a hot summer day looking for comets or shooting stars?

I guess knowing what it is doesn't really matter, but I love the gameplay and music combo. I've gone back and watched the video-clip a good half dozen times, and am really looking forward to trying the game when finished.

@kolabo I love that initial paragraph! I'm intrigued what it is now and it has me visioning all those scenarios! All of those descriptions are exactly what I want from the game, a relaxed feel but has you almost daydreaming around!
I'll hopefully be producing another w.i.p clip soon which will show some of the newer elements.
