No... no idea... I also toyed with using move behaviours with three for jump. One straight up, one up and left, one up and right. That could work too but a lot of mucking about...
remembered me 11th hour! that game was scary! 15 years ago... dang. there are some videos on youtube, check them out. its a great source of inspiration for your game.
@QS: I'm not sure.. A few more weeks? A month? Right now I'm plugging away at it. Inspiration / motivation always comes and goes. There's no pressure to get it done, so I'm going to make it as good as I can.
@eaguirre: Thanks! If you can't afford Photoshop, I highly recommend Pixelmator. It can pretty much do anything that Photoshop can do for game graphics, and it's 1/10th the price.
@beaudoin_n and nulo: Yes, I certainly remember the 7th Guest and its sequel, the 11th hour! Classics! The gameplay will be sort of similar. No video ghosts though!

oh, I'm just asking so I don't release anything at the same time - would hate to have one of my games overshadowed by your masterpiece!
And having no pressure to get something done is great, isn't it?
Thats so low, if i want i can report to them and problary get your game pulled.
I try and like most people.
I really don't like you.
FMG has already said that the house is based off a particular one.
He's also provided a pic of said house. Fully owned up to it and said it's used a lot because it looks so damn spooky.
Now, yes the source material may be the same. But you can see that there are differences (mainly in the angle that the house is featured at - also in the tree types).

I know you are trying to be clever, I get it.
But, from what i can tell you have two very similarly trained professional photoshop artists basing a PS painting off the same picture. The is an art to PS retouching and a lot of the skills are similar so of course two people touching up a picture would look the same.
At first glance they do look similar but if you look the sky , trees, and all the surroundings are not the same. The style is the same but that's it. As far as the light on. It was probably just on in the picture they both used. I cant say though.
It is from 6 years ago. I followed that tutorial back then because I thought the final image was just fantastic. I love all of his work. I still use a lot of his techniques in my own work.
That original picture I linked to IS the original photo I used. I wasn't trying to pull a fast one on you.
It is just that the Carter mansion is SO perfect for haunted houses. It has almost become a cliche.
The original house I used is actually the Carson mansion, not Carter mansion. Apparently it is the most photographed Victorian house in America. Which is why you see it everywhere.
i'm slogging away at the game... It's really a blast to work on! I'm hoping to have it done in a few weeks...
There's a ton of content! I have about 200 sound effects and hundreds of images, so it's taking a little longer than expected. Plus I got married a few weeks ago, etc...!
Here is a quick video of the title screen to whet your appetite!
(there's an HD version of the video on YouTube if your connection can handle it. Just click the video.)

@Mike: Thanks! I'll give you a promo code. Your money's no good!
Do you know how to use min/max in the expression editor?
Using that will fix it for you.
If not, start a new thread and I will post there.

THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE MEANT FOR!!!!!!
Sheesh.
Go FMG! I wanna play it!! NOOOOOW!
Is it common for that house to be shown with the front light on? (This is a serious question).
Apparently this house is pretty common in point to click mystery junk right? I've only played one game in the genre, and that was ages ago.

It is used here in this game as well:

A very popular game that has sold millions of copies...
But I agree, it does look too similar. You have inspired me to remake it.
The image is updated at the beginning of the thread.
I'll probably rebuild it again at some point!
Just so there's no confusion, it is based off of this photo here:

This one will do the trick just as well though!
I like the new house better anyway!
Just wondering, when will the "Grisly Manor" app be ready. This is the type of game I enjoy.
EVERY GAMEs BY FIREMAPLEGAMES IS AWESOME!!!!!
Prove me wrong :P
