I have to run...heading on vacation for 4 days. Be back Thurs.
Couple quick points... I am recycling actors. The roaches are 10 in count and are recycled. The only spawning are the weapons.
Building 100 levels isn't going to be as difficult as you suggest QS. The roach actors have lots of default settings to adjust to make the levels unique. I expect 2-3 weeks of time to develop the levels out and I feel the variety of levels and the associated art will make the game more appealing to a larger audience. Plus the game will build up over that time with weapons improvements and achievement success built in.
Thanks all for the interest and for looking into the memory problems.
Cheers. Now its off to roller coasters and water slides.
Cheeky isn't it. If you read the small print on apples site they hint at it:
"Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support are available only with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009)." --- ie. not the 8GB.
Also in the section about video playback it quotes lower bit rate and resolution figures for the 8gb model.
Funny though, I just bought one. The reason being that we don't have anything 2G to test apps on here (my wife has the 32gb).

Which iPod touch did you buy? The 3G 8gb one is still 2G hardware inside. Only the 32 and 64gb that are the same hardware as the iphone 3gs.
