(Gyro... are you taking part? ... otherwise fancy being a judge?)

Jon, I would be really pleased to be a judge and would enjoy it, thank you! :-)

Also Gyro... why 4 weeks..? (not knocking it...I'm happy to go with what the people want...some people before said they wanted it to be a 48 hours contest... I like the idea of seeing some great games so the longer its on the better the games can look both in game design and visual and audio polish)

Yes, might see some more "polish" in the games, I was thinking.

Really like your Think Outside the Box poster, spot on! :-)

wow. I'm still working on my supposedly entry on TOBT2 and we have another one again. I better start working faster to finish my game before this one starts.

With the look of the splash image im feeling theres a touch of retro in there.

I'll try to get my game ready in 10 days so I can participate in this!

With a title like ''think ouside the box'' game design should take a big part of the judging. But with all the great artists out there, graphics should be considered.

I'm not sure if menu design really should be though. And things like story gotta be labered as 'none' instead of 0/10. Maybe there could be a bonus score for stuff like overall polish and game universe feel/story background, which would be judged widely if it does add to the game experience.

I guess having no prize is not a problem since we can publish on appstore :)

I'm sure Wayne and I will offer up a prize or 2 from DeepBlueApps.

    Darren.

I am not sure if you will accept prizes from entrants, but if you are I offer a somewhat out of the box one. A pound of some of the World's finest coffee, roasted to your personal preference (light, medium, or dark roast) and ground (or not) for your own personal coffee device. And to drink it from a coffee mug with your own logo or game design on (will take a couple of weeks to process once I have the design).

I do have a real thing for coffee and have been roasting for a few years from green beans that come via one of best coffee guys in the UK, and I promise you this coffee would be some of the best you have ever tasted, and from a one of a few sacks produced by one of the best small growers in World. None of your blended nonsense or the overpriced stuff you can get at coffee chains...

    Anyway, just let me know.

Can I be Judge, Jury and Executioner? ;)

Happy to help, and I'm offering a service to write iTunes descriptions in the marketplace. I'd be happy to write one up for free (usually $80) for the winner as a prize.

    Awesome prize offerings guys.
    - Darren email me with what prizes you want to offer sales@stormystudio.com
    - old kipper the coffee and mug prize is awesome. Random but so classy I like it. Damn now I wish I could enter (I'm not, nor am I a judge, just so I can stay impartial to it all).

Thanks QS for saying yes to being a judge, jury and executioner. Feel free to execute any rule breakers. :-)

Hmmm, QS could get into trouble...just checked out section 59, paragraph 347, clause 6.57 of the Gaming Competiton Rules:

"Rule breakers may NOT be executed; although a short, sharp whack across the wrist with a bamboo (or similar) stick can be deemed fair."

Yes, but paragraph 348 clearly states "And ye shall fear the sheep, for rules do not apply to him. He will inherit the earth and smite thee!"

Hi Stormy ... will try to compete (again) and pleased to offer up a $25 itunes prize for the winner. As usual thanks for the efforts in bringing the community together.

Excelent prize once again simo... cheers... I'll add it to the pot of growing prizes...
  • old_kipperold_kipper Member Posts: 1,420
If you get a gert stack of swag, perhaps you could have categories for more than one winner. I saw that there was some unease about skills in all areas so some recognition for design, gameplay, and originality would work with an overall winner might work. The prizes are nice but a wide share of the glory would make more happy campers possibly.

    just a thought. kipper

kipper good point... before the contest starts, I'll break the prizes up into some sort of categories if possible.

    Perhaps..

One over arching 'Best overall game prize'

    Other prizes for:

    - Originality
    - Best Gameplay
    - Best Artwork and Graphics Design

and the loser get ten minutes in the ring with QS (with a live feed to the site for those of adult age and strong stomach).

This might also be shared so that copyright infringement gets 4 minutes, template usage gets a vicious 6 minutes (I have noted QS feelings on this and the time would allow him to show his own originality), asking on the forum for help would get 2 minutes if the question is available with a minor search, and bumping threads or trolling on other's build thread would get 27 minutes.

    Just more thoughts...
