I know, I use thenewboston.com HE IS THE BEST at all tutorials. The problem is it's pc. I will NEVER work on a PC.

Amen Brother.
think of all the things we knew ahead of time and what a let down. Pause was hyped through the roof. And yes while useful it was quite a let down once we had it and saw the loading wheel between pause and unpause. Major let down. really kills the pause experience.
And lets go back further to iAds. OMG we need iAds please we have to have them they are so great. OK guys were adding iAds we really hope you get rich. and Bam. Not many people getting rich off iAds.
Or lets talk 0.9.3. Memory leaks fixed The creator is so perfect its almost ready to drop from beta (yeah I know thats an exaggeration but thats where it was going). And what happened with that update. Well its great my creator doesn't crash it just sucks that my files are all jacked up and losing images and not opening correctly etc….
If its a great as they say it is It is very important to not know until its ready other wise it will almost certainly be a let down once we have it. because there will have been 100 threads about how excited people are to be getting this great new feature and all the ways were gonna benefit Etc….
They have released a reasonable amount of information so we know where the company is headed. Yes they do need to update the list as things fall behind or new things come around but they don't need to be dropping daily updates on things that may be weeks or months away. Once they are ready to go they should announce they are ready. Not before. Otherwise we will be pissed off for 6+ months that something hasn't happened they said was coming next. ie. Last november when they said GameCenter was coming real soon like in the next build.
I'm off to bed with my ranting so enjoy your night of speculating over something your not gonna know about.
Maybe it's a new bit of software for 3D app development, or maybe it's a way to port your games to some big console, or maybe it IS a big console made by gamesalad, or maybe it's multiplayer, or maybe it's just the codename for Gamesalad leaving beta, or maybe it's a face melter, or maybe it's gamecenter achievements and integration with Facebook and twitter and openfient and all those other game leaderboard things, or maybe it's Nintendo DS/Wii game creation, or maybe it's a graphics warehouse, or maybe it's just pro becoming free , or maybe it's... I'll be here all night, but the possibilitys are endless!
...Or maybe it's arrays, or maybe it's a music/sound effects warehouse, or maybe its mic integration, or maybe it's camera integration, or maybe it's keyboard integration or maybe it's video, or maybe it's a calculator. Who knows, let's just hope it comes soon!
Or Maybe it's access to the iPhones inner settings like the clock, or the music, or the camera or the mic etc... I just keep coming up with more ideas for what it could be, excited!
Maybe it's a new type of processor? One that's faster and allows for games to have more levels and be bigger and better. Or it could be 3D graphics, like, real pop out at you 3D.
@Sparky: You're right everyone guesses is far too unambitious.
Here's mine:
1. Random #1 US Overall game generator. This will automatically create an incredible game, included is a featured spot on Apple Game of the Week and two articles on TouchArcade.
2. Text-to-game feature. Try to imagine it. You're presented with a text box and you write: this game is about birds thrown toward pigs. And magically it creates Angry Birds.
3. GS for windows. This is the biggest face melting feature. Why? Because in that case I will melt all GS employees faces for allowing a bigger army of kids to put crApps on the AppStore.
P.S. On a serious note whatever feature they add won't be as face melting as they think if it keeps the loading wheel of death on GS games. Pleas GS give us "instant scene change" behavior.
seeing as though everyone is having a guess.. I might as well
in no particular order :
1. Export/publish to flash/html5 .. all of a sudden this makes gamesalad a massive force to be reckoned with in the game making community, and for the online game market....I'm not sure how right this is though, as I assume it will cause a conflict of interest with whatever Arcade 2.0 is going to be.
2. GS for windows. All of a sudden, opens the tool up to a MASSIVE audience. Not sure how industry changing that might be though, as there already a few similar tools for windows (game maker etc)
3. GS for ipad. Make games with the tool on the go, and publish. This fits in with "industry changing". There is really nothing out there at the mo that does this as of yet?
Who knows though... we could all be way of the mark. Only the team, and the chefs know what's what. So I guess we will just have to wait.
Hope it gets announced soon. I'm guessing now that the sous chefs know, it won't be too far away.......
You guys are all hyping this too much. I'm sure it'll be something cool, but in the end, it could also just be something that's "meh". And I don't have any high hopes for a release anytime soon. Name one release that has actually been "on time"? Even though the GS crew are really vague on the release dates
Well if we take TSB's "melt my face" literally, it could be a $100 peripheral where you hook electrodes up to your head and whatever you think of, GS will code and create the graphics for it. It may quite literally melt your face.
Project Masala is going to be nothing more than another way to monetize. Its not going to be a cool HTML5 technology, not iPad creator tool.
Why do I say this? I came across GameSalad when I heard they got funded for $6mill from Steamboat Ventures. An affiliate of Walt Disney. Great. But guess what? Disney is known for the mouse that roared.
Anything Disney is about money. You visit their park, and even the most dullest $.01 key ring sells for $1.99.
Do you honestly think that Steamboat is going to burn $6mill? When the team also owes an initial chunk of money to the first round of funding for $1 million?
And here is a big red flag for me, the fact that the head chef just added a job opening in Austin with *NO RELOCATION* what does that mean? When have you ever heard a company that got $6 mill in funding not relocate talent? That's unheard of. And not only that, but will most likely not allow someone that "created a game" (as required) to continue its development? Relocation fees are tax deductible. The fact they are not willing to relocate raises a ton of red flags.
I hate programming. I see a great opportunity with GameSalad, but I can't see it winning when they can't even relocate great talent.
Project Masala is going to be another GameSalad Direct. The pressure to make money from investors at the tune of $7.5 million is immense.
I should know. I am unemployed due to the fact that the startup I was in went belly up the pressure on the founders was immense. And I want to at least develop a game so I can get some cash in my pocket.
I completely disagree with the relocation post. I'd imagine they arent considering relocation purely because they need to fill the post urgently, and/or dont have the budget to add a few grand on top of the wage. Nothing more, nothing less.

Getting the heads-up about iPad was a huge boon for this community. Actually, I think that was the finest moment for GameSalad — which I think hasn't been surpassed yet! All the community had to go on was something like, "Prepare your games for 1024x768 or vise-versa" ...and that was all the community needed to get in on the action. GameSalad games were all over the top of the charts when the iPad launched.

Wow you joined an hour ago just to cut down GameSalad. Bravo my Friend, Bravo.
Oh FYI if you had taken the time to read the responses from GameSalad staff on that job posting you would have seen they said who ever gets the job will still be able to publish their own games on the side.
I doubt it will be that they port it to PC. That is not a new game breaking 'feature.' it's more of an option. It's no new coding, mechanics, options for developer to make better games.... it would be the same features mirrored over to PC. This would be a major let down. I'd refer to it as Project Poopy.
tenrdrmer said: Wow you joined an hour ago just to cut down GameSalad. Bravo my Friend, Bravo.
Some of the things posted make sense though. How will GameSalad make back that +7 million dollars... and then significant profit?
That's 15,000 pro subscriptions... in a community with little more than 3000 active members... many here for the free version of GameSalad.
However, I disagree with the relocation assistance thing. It's a customer service job. The biggest requirement is having experience with the software... heh... software that's REALLY EASY to use. I certainly would not want to pay relocation assistance for a job that. I'd want someone local. Austin is supposedly a tech hub, so there must be some local talent that can handle the gig. If not, they shouldn't be paying for relocation assistance... they should be the ones relocating!
Mammoth said: Considering the world's economy having A job is a privilege. If I got a really good job and they didn't pay relocation Id probably just go.
Unfortunately, because the economy is so bad, it's harder for good talent to relocate. The housing market is garbage right now, so selling a home - if you've got one - is hard. Gas is expensive, so just driving to Texas could cost hundreds of dollars. Going to rent a place? You'll likely need a security deposit. That could be thousands of dollars.

Change the game INDUSTRY. That's a bold statement.
