    Agreed! Trust me, you are in the right place. Quickest way from your head to the AppStore is gamesalad, there is no competition when you look at it that way.
    Thanks for the post, and welcome to the forum. Good luck with your games :-h

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie here. I've never thought of designing my own game but my 5yr old son has decided that he really wants to make his own game. He's been telling me all about the characters and what it can do, now I need to figure out how to get this done for him.
    Wish me luck, I have no clue where to start but at least I have a very excited child helping out!

    Hey! I'm Will from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I just turned 13 years old.

    Because I'm so young, I don't understand half of what the heck people are talking about on these forums. Especially, what is "lua-free coding"?
  • willieharriswillieharris Member Posts: 294
    The GameSalad engine that you are likely using has been rebuild so to speak using this new feature. This provides users with more power. That's just keeping it short and sweet. Welcome to this forum, best of luck with all your games. :-h

    Hello all, I was going to make a post saying hi then I saw this and a few of the guys were from the cheese state as well so why not do it here. So here goes, My name is Glen. Im 28 years old been playing games since I was probably 10 haha. I got into computers when I was about 13. From then on I always thought it would be so cool to make my own games. Well fast forward about 10 15 years and I got married have one kid of my own and two step kids. I tryied doing factory work, went to school to be a auto mechanic. None of that has really worked out for me. Then I read an article in Game Informer about a group of guys who didnt know much about computers and they made a pretty big mobile game. Well I aint working right now and thought about going to school for programing but since there aren't very many game development companies around these neck of the woods. I figured this summer Im gonna try and make a go of it myself. I figure even if I get a job doing something else. Keep up with this and maybe years down the road even if I go to school or not maybe I can do something I enjoy and put a little food on the table too. Thats what I believe, life is to short to not do something you enjoy for a living. So Im gonna read up on the guides and the fourms and see what I can do. After I found this site today, I started thinking and one thing I know I wanna do is make a game how ever good or bad, then charge maybe 99 cents or something to that extent. But all the money would go to charity. Im thinking a cancer related game and have the money go to a cancer charity, cause my dad died of cancer a few years back. I think that would be a great way to give back. Of course this is all been planned out in about 3 hours so its not perfect, and dont know if its possible but I wanna try and do it. Not right away of course but sometime down the line this year. Ok enough blabbering, I got some stuff to read and some programs to play with haha thanks all the future help, and nice to meet you guys.

    Sorry to here about your father, but best of luck with that game. Not sure where in Wisconsin your located, but I'm part of nearly every indie game developer meetup group in the city; or should I just say "Both" of the groups. Lol
    Not sure how much longer ill be here in the cheese state though, seems like other then making cheese, your option are fewer here.Ha

    Myself and the lady have been saving for this move to California and technically we could move right now, but we have affairs to get in order first. It seems that as I prepared my exit from this city,I meet more and more aspiring game developers.
    Thanks for breathing life back into this forum.
    Your in the right place, to make a game at a fast pace.

    Happy developing.

    Hey everybody! My name's Jessica; I'm 25, and I live in New Westminster, BC, Canada (that's near Vancouver, for all you non-BC-ers :-P ).

    I've worked for a tech company for a couple of years now (tech support, general office work, etc.), but I'm pretty new to this whole game design business. I'm basically just trying to get my feet wet, muck about with a few games, see where it goes. :-)

    @DistractedHamster

    Welcome, and you are clearly in the right place... Your story is much like many of other indie dev's (that's a good thing) and if GameSalad is your first choice I'm sure you'll be up and running in no time. Thanks for stopping through, best of luck with your games, and welcome to the forum!

    Servontius Turner here from Saint Paul, MN. Computer Forensics Major, pretty new to everything game creation related. Done some dabbling in Java, JS, C++ and Obj C with Unity. Actually stumbled across GameSalad through looking for an easier way to develop some small ideas i have, as well as gain some knowledge about the industry. Always been a dream of mine to develop games. It's nothing big, but at least i can say i'm living out my dreams right!?

    I think we are all here giving that same dream a shot, and best of luck to you while pursuing yours.

    @kinzua
    I too have a strong background in visual arts; this is likely the best software for an artist to use because you don't have to worry so much about syntax etc. Having a Programing background will likely make you a beast with this engine, so make no mistake; it's also great for coders. Ha

    Thanks for your post in this forum guys! Welcome, and best of luck with your games. =D>

    You'd likely become an asset around here really quick with your background. Thanks for posting in the forum, and best of luck with all your games.

    FYI: 40's the new 20.. Your never to old to make games. Ha

    I'm Adam Smith (not the economist) from Virginia. I'm 15 going onto 16, so I'm quite young compared to a lot of the people on the community. I got introduced to Gamesalad about 2 years at an iD tech camp. I'm currently under the works on a space shooter, called Galastar. And after almost 2 years of very slow progress on it, it's almost done :D

    Having trouble with your game? Sounds like a personal problem.

  • willieharriswillieharris Member Posts: 294

    Sounds cool. It's on fair that I state the obvious; Your never too young to make a game either.
    Thanks for your post, welcome, and best of luck with all your games.

    @waymanharris You've just cheered me up no end! If 40 is the new 20, then 50 must be the new 30 - which means I must be in my thirties :D

    Profile pic is me and my severely disabled son Christopher.

    We live on a tiny island in Australia and have koalas in our trees.

    I'm making games for Christopher, because if he likes them, there's probably other disabled people or toddlers who will like them too!

    And I'm so glad I found this great community .. caring for someone with a disability can sometimes be very isolating.

    Great to meet everyone ...
