    I'm in in two ways...
1st, I'll throw my Slot Machine template (https://tinypay.me/eatingmyhat) to the prize pool
2nd, I'll submit a game, already started working on the mechanics - will be happy for some help with the art, but I'll start creating it by myself

Being on a PST timezone, I think this one ends at 4am for me... I guess I'll just work and submit what I got when I get tired :)

Ok, my game is going to be an endless surfer. I have the basic game mechanic done and some of the graphics is taking shape. Some of the graphics is already taking shape and I'm playing with the art style to be a bit like Little Big Planet (with my limited graphics skills).

I took this video about an hour ago and just posted it, I'll post another one shortly with some of the sea, waves and actor art.

    Cheers!

EDIT: I figured that instead of spamming the thread, I might as well edit this one with an additional video (will do a next post next one)

    Progress:
    1. Background waves, I played with them a bit too much, but I liked the effect
    2. Basic background
    3. This is my actor, a paper man riding a cardboard board
    4. Particles water effect coming from his board

    To Do
    1. The wave that you ride, don't know what to do yet, but I have an idea
    2. I love live backgrounds, will add more useless elements
    3. Start screen and menu
    4. Some kind of score/distance
    5. Increase difficulty
    6. End game sequence

I have officially on;y gotten about two hours of sleep but my game is coming out great! Must keep fighting the sleep! (:|
Looking great everybody! Keep up the great work. I love seeing what people can do in 24 hours. I have realized that if we never had to go to sleep, we could get so much more done. LOL @-)

Hey @ozboybrian you can't post something like that when people are still working! Now everything is just hopeless...

Well, it just 7 hours to go to the end and 6.5 hours before @Tshirtbooth will post something that will blow the competition away...

I have to say, this is the first time that I work with 0.91 and the things just keep crashing left and right :( back to the old days of Command-S after every addition. So over all not a lot of progress in the last two hours. Here is what I managed to do:

    1. I added my waves, as you can see - I am not an artist! I would love to have some art of a continues breaking wave is some way (the wave can't go flat), but for now my rotating wave will have to do. I also added some particles effect on the "breaking" point just for fun.

    2. A nice city scape background, don't ask me why it is purple, it just is...

Any suggestions on the waves are welcome. I'm thinking of adding stuff like coins to collect and sharks to avoid to keep thing interesting, but time is short so not sure what I'll manage to add. I'm also a bit concerned about the 'insanity' factor that get 20 points... the concept of a man made out of an old news paper riding waves on cardboard is a bit extreme (he can get really soggy) - is it insane enough? Suggestion on raising the insanity level are appreciated...

    Taking a quick break now.

@ozboybrian Are you aloud to use a image from the Free Image Discussion?
  • KillerPenguinStudiosKillerPenguinStudios Member Posts: 1,291
    @ozboybrian - @UnicornInvasion - or anyone else.
What are you guys using to capture the videos and how do you post it on this forum so it will show the video like the ones above? Sorry, have not done this before. Thanks for your understanding!

    Thanks,

    @ killerpenguins

You can use quicktime to record your screen. And you just upload it to youtube and post the youtube link and it wil embed like the other videos above.

Don't be discouraged guys! My idea isn't very original and is very simple.
This whole thing is about having fun, your stuff is coming along great! keep it up!

@unicornInvasion - In my opinion, use any art from anywhere you want... so long as you're not positing with that art to the app store.

@Tshirtbooth - Very keen to see what you come up with in such a short period :D

I will try organise some more "24 Hour Challenges" once a month maybe I can do a theme.
But in this you can use art music sfx from anywhere. Like mini warm ups for TOTB ^_^
