True, but the point about getting them up, if they are any good, is at least they will hopefully generate some money before they may be banned rather then sit 2/3rds finished in a folder on your Mac. :-)

If it came to it and GS got banned in its current format, couldn't the GS team just change the way their server compiles our apps and just deliver us our app back as a xcode fromat so we can finish the final app creation ourselves?

There is more to this we don't know
it could just mean you need a liscense agreementvwith apple
    which gs could be granted

    what does "known" mean

    nothing

so vague it may as well not be there

It's the bloggers who started adding to this

I'm general bloggers piss me off

bloggers and joggers I dint like either

has anyone installed 4.0 and tried? The brave fall first but are remembered in tall tales and make famous in song.

When you compile in Xcode it creates a .app file and you compress it (zip). Xcode only supports ObjC (C and C++ with special .mm files) for it's iPhone sdk and API's. So when you upload to GS, it compiles in Xcode and they send you the .app file Xcode creates (at least I assume that is the case?) and you zip it which is almost identical to the regular coding process that I went through before I found gamesalad. So doesn't that mean all our apps are still Xcode projects with Xcode supported code? Just a thought and I might be wrong about it!

I like to blog... and sometimes I jog... so does that mean James doesn't like me? HA HA!

What I'm seeing here doesn't look like blogging or jogging... some text was cut and pasted to a website... and while I like the cool angle effect used on that page, this doesn't seem like something to worry about.

Best Case scenario: Flash Games are banned and GameSalad developers enjoy years of wealth, happiness and prosperity.

Worst Case scenario: GameSalad has to make minor changes, so that developers use xcode to finish off their games... also pretty good actually.

Most likely scenario: Extra verbiage used in the license agreement so that Apple can have even more reasons to frustrate me during the app approval process.

A dramatization: "I see you used a hyphen Mr. Garofalo... we only approve em-dashes or en-dashes... but only if you can email (in the next 50 seconds) a 500 word essay about the difference between those two characters."

there are more posts like this but the consensus is that they are just singling out flash

Just checked, earth attack works as usual. It's not that they wont work its just that apple will ban them.
  • rebumprebump Member Posts: 1,058
@iPhoneDevForMe: Yeah, GS is just creating a (mostly) typical package for us. The problem being is Apple does have a few package scanning tools up their sleeve that could look for certain attributes/filenames/strings that could identify the package as a "banned" technology. I know it was one of these tools that cause mass rejection of Appcelerator created apps a few weeks ago when some of its own API object/method names were triggering the scanners to think the apps were using private Apple SDK objects/methods.

I think it's high time we crank out a bunch of apps before 4.0 is released. The banhammer may come down on all of us, and there goes our secondary income.

This would affect Torque, Unity, and Shiva as well?
  • iDeveloperziDeveloperz Member Posts: 1,169
Everything thats flash. And GS is my primary income. crap. At least we can still make web games. If GS is banned this could open doors to a whole new world of opportunities, there is always...
    - XBLA
    - Web
    - PSN
    - WII Marketplace
    - Android
    - Game salad marketplace (maybe) - [download games from the GS website to mac and pc?]
    - There are endless possibilities the appstore is just 1. (But the best one :( )

    :)

I don't think Torque, Unity, etc. are like GS. They are mainly just enhanced SDKs and asset creation tools for the most part. Although, I could be wrong.

Whereas GS is more of a ruleset parser/interpretor (and thus the lack of real performance)...akin to BASIC versus C++. Although, I could be wrong.

The non-GS tools may have a touch of parser/interpretor in them for their scripting languages for some things but I'm guessing they fall more toward the enhanced SDK side of things as opposed to a parser/interpretor.

It would have to be something along those lines if Unity 3D is churning out fast moving 3D game play and GS is chugging away on 2D action game play. But performance isn't necessary for all game types. Not slamming GS but hey, it does lack performance.

I'm hoping for any words from Gendai at this point.
  • JCFordJCFord Member Posts: 785
It's been a long day for me, I'm off to bed now in the good old UK, and I hope when I wake up tomorrow there is a new and exciting GS 0.8.4.1 waiting for me.
  • iDeveloperziDeveloperz Member Posts: 1,169
    Or maybe 1.0 :D
Probably not. But it would be nice.
  • Pas976Pas976 Member Posts: 41
If this happens GS is gonna have a LOT of angry customers(not that its there fault though.) The best thing to do would be to give xcode export or add google adsense for web apps or other methods of online profit.
  • iDeveloperziDeveloperz Member Posts: 1,169
The Gamesald store would be awesome, a different site to this. We could make games, put them on the store, and GS take 30% of the profit just like apple. It would make game salad a hell of a lot more money. *Cough to invest into the gamesalad phone and i'm going crazy now arnt i?

I may not be a smart man but I know what love is
  • rdcuberdcube Member Posts: 361
I hope this doesn't impact GS too much, I'm cool on waiting for GS devs to fix what needs to be fix if any...but if it does impact on the long run, perhaps it could be a good option for GS to expedite the GS to Android feature.
  • iDeveloperziDeveloperz Member Posts: 1,169
    Or the gamesalad store. ^.^
    Sorry
  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
I have a feeling.... Gamesalad will somehow come to the rescue on this.... hopefully
  • JamesZeppelinJamesZeppelin Member Posts: 1,927
As far as android I'm so over it

look iPhone vs android i get it

why does everyone forget that they are both equal and both users play some games

it's the iPod kids that are the hard core gamers that populate touch arcade and buy millions upon millions of apps

Not dads with droids and 3gs

I could be wrong but propel forge it's not a phone war
if that was the case either would be fine

it's that other little cheaper device with no contract apple makes
  • JamesZeppelinJamesZeppelin Member Posts: 1,927
Sorry if sloppy stupid auto correct

Either way if iPhone cmes to verizen it's over

Verizen users won't need an excuse anymore which is what droid is other than a clunky junker

I mean come on hav you held one of these things
  • iDeveloperziDeveloperz Member Posts: 1,169
Just realised, that guy who made the pro forums hasn't seen this yet has he? wonder what he has to say.
  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
lol I agree James, I just pray GS has a fix to this.... if it's anything to worry about :(
  • PhoticsPhotics Member Posts: 4,172
James, I think you're looking at Android wrong. There are lots of gamers there... hardcore gamers. When I started Photics: Conquest, I was impressed at the community that formed. They were amongst the best gamers that I've ever seen.

Fact: I've made more money with the Android Market than Apple's App Store.

Gendai, should I keep on busting my butt on building my games, or should I stop? I really don't know what to do from here. Any insight?
  • JamesZeppelinJamesZeppelin Member Posts: 1,927
    True

There is a great group no matter where you go
even the jailbreakers gave great community
    But it's still an altenative
    it's just apples and oranges.

Personally I'm just not looking for an alternative
I suppose if that's the case droid is the best and may better
