I have returned!

The GameSalad Textbook is completed. I think it looks great. I'm planning to make the PDF version available for sale later today. You'll be able to buy it at Photics.com.

It's a 200 pages 8"x10" book. The PDF has a table of contents and index. The both have links that work. This book is a great reference guide. That's what the community seemed to want most of all. I think this book delivers. The book is well organized and it goes through the entire GameSalad game creation process.

The artwork is amazing. I think that the cover is great. Yet, the artwork is special. The book basically tells you how to make the artwork in the book. I think I've created a phenomenal guide.

More details should be available later today, so you can see for yourself.

I'm still working on how much of the book I'm going to release as a preview. It's probably not going to be very much. I'm working on the e-commerce system right now. Soon you'll be able to decide if you want to take a chance on the book.

The PDF is $19.98... I'm still working on the printed version details. That's probably going to be $29.95. I have to get a physical copy first though, in order to determine if printed copies are worth the hassle. I dropped a test PDF onto my iPod Touch. It works great in iBooks.

One of the biggest issues right now is New York Sales Tax. I'm in NYC. Other regions in New York charge different rates.

Are there any volunteers to test the e-commerce system? You get to be the first one to buy the book. :)

I'm still messing around with the e-commerce system. The PDF should be ready for purchase soon.

That was really quick! Did you manage to squeeze in some math info?
  • ChunkypixelsChunkypixels Member Posts: 1,114
Im not sure if you've already done so, but before publishing the book, I'd recommend getting Gendai to look it over first, and give their input.

I say this, as there might be areas or subjects in the book that they can maybe give more info on, and may have updates or changes in the works that could make sections of the book inaccurate. Obviously, if the book has access to this info, its going to be more effective.

Like I said, I dont know if you've already had Gendai's input or not, but just think its an important stage of publishing an accurate manual.

Photics mentioned a while back that he'd been talking to Gendai about the book, so hopefully that area is all good :)

I think that the math chapter is amazing. I look back at what I wrote, I look at the charts and the graphics, it's pretty impressive. There's a good story that introduces the chapter too.

The book is ready to go, but I have plans for the morning. When I return, the book will be launched.

Does it explain how to create a game in Detail?

It explains the behaviors in detail, the tools of GameSalad are explained, then the book moves into more advanced topics, with math physics and common game elements. It also covers how to get started in creating content for your project. Games like space shooters, platformers, puzzle games and other types of games are discussed. Then it moves into making a better game, publishing that game and marketing.

I am going to probably buy it since it has ways of showing how to make graphics and it will show me new mathematical terms for my games :)

    Cheers, Weswog

Hey everyone, thanks for the encouraging feedback. OK, who wants to go first? The ordering page is live. I decided to drop the e-commerce system for now, as it's not that secure. So instead, I'll be manually emailing copies of the book to customers.

@photics It looks like a great book (Just read the sample pdf). Could I get a hard copy of it somehow, or is it only online?

I don't know who you are. But judging from your icon I think it's highly possible. I just customized the first PDF. The orders are starting to come in. I was getting worried there. Ha, I was wondering where all the sales were.

I see some other orders coming, so less chatting for me and more work!

Can you get it with paypal?

Great job by the way! :)

Experiencing some technical issues. Apparently the PDF is too big to email. I'm working on an alternative. It should actually make this project easier to manage. It should take about an hour.

Too much for me, just bought two hardcover books about obj c and stuff.
I'll wait for an hint about the math section, since that's really the only one I'm interested in, then I'll see if it's worth it for me. :)

Good job anyway! From the sample chapters everything seems really well done!
