OK, aside from one order that hasn't cleared, I'm up-to-date. I'm going to wander over to the Apple store to see about getting the book on shelves. GameSalad should be sold in the App Store, with my pretty book right next to it.
Made it half way though chapter 4 b4 falling asleep with iPad in hand so far great can't wait to get to the math I know there's alot to learn in that part of the book thanks again
Just download iBooks to your iPod Touch, look for the book section in iTunes, drag the PDF to the book section. If you do this while your iPod Touch is connected, it should automatically move the PDF to your iBooks application.
Just started thumbing going through it. Looks excellent. Thanks Photics.
Has GameSalad made any statements about the book?

Nope... not since it's been published... no threats from lawyers and no praises either. I think the book is good for the community, as it should lead to better quality games. That should help build the GameSalad brand. Also, the book helps resolve some of the frustration involved with creating GameSalad games. That makes the customers happy and more likely to renew subscriptions.
If I can get the book in Apple Stores, that should dramatically improve the visibility of the software. I'm not sure how to make that happen though.
I was thinking of putting the GameSalad logo on one of the monitors, on the cover page, but I didn't want to misuse their logo. It would have been cool, but I generally don't see official logos on unofficial guides.
They should have a copy though. I emailed download information. So... no free "Pro" subscription... but no take-down notices either. I'm not too worried about them being angry. It is an unofficial guide and that should be OK. I think they're busy. They might be working on something big. They did get a bunch of money, so something big might be going on. I think they might be too busy to read through 199 pages.
Oh, they would have no reason to be angry, you clearly say "unofficial" and it is a great benefit to members. I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it on the blog, but I'm sure they want to read it over before any comment.

I'm not convinced. I just tried to export the book to epub... CRASH! (I switched some settings, and it exported.)
It's too flaky, With a PDF, I know where everything is going to be. It's pixel perfect. With epub, it's too floaty. I'm still trying though.
It seems like a great idea... convert my book to epub, toss it up the iBooks store... sit back and collect money. But unfortunately, there seems to be some issues.

I don't think I'm going to put the book on the app store. I was thinking about using GameSalad to make a reader. I thought it would be cool to make a book with GameSalad to show off the power of the software. Yet, I'm not sure how I would do that. 199 pages could be very slow.

Awesome! See, this is why I think putting the book on Apple's store is redundant. Once iBooks is set up on your device, the book only has to be dragged-and-dropped into iTunes. The new version of iBooks is much faster with PDFs too. The speed with my iPod Touch is not too bad, so it must be great with an iPad.
Ok I will buy the book, but the chapter you show is not really a selling tool its your opinion, and I appreciate it but the nittu griity details of GS are what I want. How to use the math, good examples of hard things to do with well explained GS process. Questions that come up are not so much about your past, or your future but how does this GS thing work. I am not being a jerk, least ways not trying to be, but show me something of substance so I can feel better about my potential purchase. Thanks for the effort, and I hope you sell a bunch of them. Good luck Mike

I think the feedback in this thread shows something of substance. The book seems to be helping a lot of people. I think that's great. Will it help help you? I don't know, but the first chapter is just an introduction. It shows my writing style and the basic format of the book. I think that's a fine example. The table of contents is shown, as is the Index. It's not meant to hype up the book. I think that the feedback from the community is building enough hype.
There are some sections that i feel that i did not need to read. But over all, the chapters on optimizing, math, how to publish a game, the breakdowns on all the behaviors, different color blends, and a ton of other stuff is well worth the asking price to me.
All orders are up-to-date. I'm going to be going to sleep soon, but I should be back here tomorrow. This is a great community. I'm happy to see that my book is making it even better.
Bought it last night. No Problems. Quick and easy. Which I could print it.
ONE QUESTION: I know this question doesn't belong here but I get no answers from GS Staff. I am using a MacMini, 2GB RAM, newest System software. After about 10 minutes working in GS the program slows down to a crawl. I just started using it so I have very few and very small files in my project. Any ideas?

And thanks again for writing the Book.
Welcome to beta! :-)
Unfortunately, that's normal. GameSalad needs to be restarted or performance degrades.

just placed my order...
ok. now waiting...
CIAO!
Getting on the app store should be easy enough, I think it just needs to be in the epub format. This link might help: http://www.tuaw.com/2010/05/27/calling-all-authors-sell-your-books-in-the-ibooks-store/
1) The epub format is awful
2) The PDF can be dragged into iBooks.
I'm not sure that people are going to randomly buy the book. This community clearly has an interest in the book, but will other people really care?
