No problem, they're just really early for the second anniversary. Ha ha!
I doubt this will drag on until next year. Although, I'm surprised that this problem dragged on this far already. Over three weeks ago GameSalad Direct® was announced. That's a long time to keep subscription ordering turned off.
I just got back from my vacation.... 8 days without any kind of Internet or computers, and expected to see the situation resolved or clarified when I logged onto the Gamesalad forums.
I've skirted over the main threads, and see a complete lack of any further official info....
So, am I correct? There's been no further response from Gendai/Gamesalad over the past week or so?
Looks like I'm going to go to chapters and buy a Corona for dummies book.
You guys can't seem to get your act together. Your holding my plans in limbo, which in essence is holding up my future cash flow.
I am happy I didn't spend the $99 on a subscription that would basically be worthless right now. I feel sorry for all you veterans on here and existing members. This seemed like such a cool place-I RAN out and bought a Mac mini to jump in in the action.
So many unanswered questions. Yet the silence is deafening.
Even if it's just to tell us "look...the update won't be until after Xmas"...the fact that you actually will have said something will mean a LOT to people on here.
I'm a great exponent of just getting on with it, regardless of when/if an update is coming....but even I am starting to get a bit restless waiting for you to say...something.....anything....
Maybe a post from a new face to spark some response?
Dear GameSalad,
I enjoyed making games so much with your software that I've redirected all of my creative energy to the pursuit of the best game-building product, but then it was gone.
So all we are asking for is some idea of when to come back to your site. If we don't hear anything it makes us think that we need to look elsewhere. Is that true?
I would very much like to spend my money on your product.
I think I saw the hour hand move again! On a side note, GS can clearly see (as well as us) from the lack of forum threads and use other than from a handful of newbies and some vets that they screwed themselves. I think they are trying to pick up the over tossed salad pieces and figure out which big company might want to buy them or just abandon GS all together.

I don't think so. This site is a money-maker. I'm not even sure why there needs to be a whole lot of thinking either. It seems that solution is simple...
1) Drop express... replace it with Direct. 2) Drop the price of Pro to about $500-$750. 3) Create an online shop where people can buy Mac (and eventually PC) games. GameSalad can take a 25% cut (cheaper and easier than Apple.)
If it is about a buyout, perhaps we should get together and buy the company... run it the right way. Maybe an alliance between Tshirtbooth, Firemaplegames and myself, we might be able to make something happen. If a buyout is the ultimate goal for the GameSalad team, be straightforward. Maybe I can make some phonecalls to venture capitalists and end this matter... and maybe everyone can make a lot of money.
There are competitors in this market, but I don't think they're as good as GameSalad... not with the right business model.

DITTO!!! I've already made 2 game mechanics with your software. We may have the smaller one completely done within a week or two. Production of the first game is completely stalled however as I need to test on actual hardware before I can continue on - so my hands are tied at the moment.
With the recent long anticipated announcement that YoYo Games will enter into revenue sharing deals with Game Maker users to publish some of their best creations they have positioned themselves against GameSalad.
GameSalad, an iOS only development tool, has been around since 2008 and over 700 created games are currently available in the App Store. They very recently announced that they would be moving from from a pay-up-front model to “GameSalad Direct” which eliminates tiered annual membership fees (previously at $99 and $1,999) and make available for everyone features previously only present in the more expensive version.
Essentially Direct distribution will see GameSalad publish games through a central account on behalf of their creators to the App Store in a revenue share deal. One difference from the YoYo Games model is that developers will also be charged an up-front fee for GameSalad to publish each piece of software.
Existing GameSalad developers don’t seem too pleased at the changes being introduced as it appears that to be able to update existing Apps created with the development tool you will be required to transfer over to the new revenue-sharing licence agreement when your current deal expires.
Full details, including the revenue share proportion, have yet to be announced and the GameSalad team have pretty much kept their members in the dark since the initial post with few of the questions asked by developers being answered.
GameSalad say they are “currently exploring options” to address user concerns.
The Unity development tool does not have a central publishing option. An easy iOS development tool to watch in the future is RocketPack for which costings have not yet been announced.

They are exploring options? I wonder if this is solid or just a bit dodgy
Last night there were a few nice yellow posts; not about anything really IMPORTANT, but still - it's more than there were three weeks back. Maybe they want to tell us what's up but can't. Maybe they have no idea what's going on themselves. We can only speculate.
I was devastated about this; but then I started learning how to write LUA. It distracted me.
Now, while I'm still angry and still sad, I'm more objective. Whatever happens with GS, I am going to be able to create fantastic games with Corona by the end of the year - that's a good thing whatever spin you put on it.
I'd encourage those sitting on their hands during this time to do something productive; when I found out I got drunk, and stayed drunk, for a few days. When I finally started doing something about what was happening I felt a lot better and the time has gone by faster.
I hope everyone here has a great Halloween (including those at GS who aren't out to slaughter indies) and that candy and booze (for those of us who are old enough to drink) help to distract us all from the stress of the present situation.

Are they allergic to money?

This is just getting beyond a joke now.....
