I was just playing the game. (With a promo code, I can play earlier.) I figured that I'd post up some scores, since players like to beat developers at their own game. So I headed into survivor and I felt this rush of adrenaline. It was amazing. The scores are real. People are coming to beat my score, so this has to be a respectable number.
The end level is my favorite part of the game. I'm concerned that players might not make it. I know where everything is. I've been playing this game for months. It was easy for me to get to survivor. How many players will actually make it there?
I did work on marketing today. I did the usual token emails to review websites. I'll keep my expectations low. I even wrote to Hodapp at Touch Arcade. I was in a good mood today, so I figured that I'd give him a chance to redeem himself. I asked if he was interested in a promo code. So far, there was no reply. I figured that was a good way to approach the matter. In the future, I have other websites to approach with exclusives. The Touch Arcade community has been very enthusiastic though, so I feel good that at least I tried.
I like the other review websites I've seen. Maybe they'll review the game.
I'll be able to better market this game tomorrow, when the app is officially available.
Oaklandasfan said: You should make a lite version, with the 1st two areas. Congrats on the release!
I don't like lite versions. It makes iTunes Connect very messy and it gets confusing to manage all of the different files. I'm not even sure if it's that effective at marketing. I think 99¢ to own a game is a lot better than the $1 per-play at the arcades. Heh... I remember feeding dollars into Time Crisis 4.
It's about 3:30 AM here and it's not up yet.... Photics, one suggestion that I have after watching your release video (great game btw) is that your spiders' movements aren't that realistic... Tank's movements are fine, but the spiders' movements are a little off. Also, on the whole YouTube and other social networking sites debate, I definitely believe that you should do more with them... It's not difficult, and they really can pay off... Some games became popular because of those sites. Just because you may not like them, others do (I read that over 2 billion videos are watched on YouTube daily, averaging about 10 sec. per video). Whatever sites you can get ahold of, I would be marketing on it... Just some of my opinions, great work on the game though...
8.47am in the UK and not on store yet. Congrats on the release Photics, lets hope your hard work has paid off, looking forward to playing when its available!
Looks good, great look and feel too it but i feel helpless! Theres no instructions, no play/options or anything, just straight in! I only knew how to move and fight because i had seen one of your posts mentioning it. I found theres so many ways to go and no map i dont have a clue!
I must now also express the huge concern people had on TA about saving! So far, i've wondered off 3 different ways, killed a few enemies, they've ultimately ended up killing me as theres no life. Im sure with the gold i could buy some health? Does that mean i have to remember where i came from and go back to the base? On top of that, the 3 times i died it took me right back to the base and i had to start again ... well, im already frustrated and want to give up!!!
Sorry to say that man, im not trying to bring you or BOT down. To be honest, these arent my kinda games and i simply dont have that much time to put into a game on a proper console, let alone my phone! The look and feel to it though is great, a very big well done, i can see you've put a lot of thought and effort into it.
The last thing i would say is when i was being attacked from front and back, i would find it hard to turn and face the enemy enough to then kill them with my sword ... maybe an 'easy' mode that auto lock to the enemy when they are within x distance?
Good luck though man, i hope its a success for you, im sure i'll play it more yet to give it a really fair go, these were just my initial feelings and as you well pobably know, you only get 1 1st impression and that can be all it takes to put people off a game ... especially when they are only paying $0.99, its too easy to think 'nope, not for me' and move on to your next game.

On the English and German versions of the App description, there are instructions on how to play.

You can get full health back at the repair shop.
Does that mean i have to remember where i came from and go back to the base?
Exactly! At first, you shouldn't wander too far from the base. You managed to kill some of the enemies. That's actually a good start.
I like how you stated, "so many ways to go" which I think is great. In our modern lives, it's a rarity to get lost. We have GPS and online maps. I think that's what adds to the adventure of BOT. There's danger and exploration.

It was mentioned earlier that people like to share information on Facebook / Twitter. There are social networking buttons at the bottom. It might already be available in Australia. It's tomorrow over there.

It's good feedback though
