dotsonj23 said: QS, if people think switching to a different SDK will make their crap games better, then I agree with you, that is stupid. I Also Agree that you can make great games with GS. There are plenty that I myself have bought. I am not looking to leave GS. But that does not mean I won't check out the competition and use it where convenient or where a feature is needed that GS does not offer. But there is nothing wrong with letting GS know how I feel and how I think they have got their priorities a little mixed up. Yes they have to ame money, of course. But getting this thing outta Betta has to be the first step to that goal. You can,t really expect to make money on Betta software unless your just looking for a buyout, which I gotta tell you that where the whole HTML 5 things make me feel like this is going. I hope not.
I don't think anyone in here is arguing that changing SDK's will make their !@#$% game good.
What I'm talking about is making good games even better. So far nobody has really "struck it" with Gamesalad as yet. And we need to ask ourselves why? There are some people doing ok out of it, but there are still too many limitations blocking the path. Gamesalad's first priority should be to give developers the tools they need to make a number 1 selling game. And right now we don't have that.
I just don't get why its such a big deal to get in a few small features that will enable the good games to do even better.
So lets assume for the sake of the argument I'm talking about good quality games here:
* In app purchases are a standard biz model and are becoming widely popular way to let people monetize their games even further. * Posting to achievements to Facebook / Twitter are a good way to let people market your game for you. This is stock standard in most games. * Custom collision boxes make games more interesting, realistic and fun * Improved memory management enable us to do more in a scene
Besides improved memory management those couple of features above should not be a whole lot of work. Yet GS is off doing HTML5 and making their own games rather than giving us the features we're demanding. And not only that with each new release there are new bugs introduced which are actually stopping people from publishing their games!
As Gamesalad users, as people who pay to use this service we have a right to have our opinions heard by Gamesalad and not just be told "GS will get around to doing it whenever they feel like".
We are the customers, and at the moment it seems GS is not listening to us at all and I think that is where the frustration is coming from.
It would be nice if we got a say in what features were prioritised next rather than just being given a vague roadmap which can be changed at any given time. It'd be nice if someone from upper management actually came on these forums to explain some of the decisions made.
And its not good enough to tell people go jump if they don't like it. GS will go out of business very quickly if thats the attitude taken, there are too many competitors popping up now and hopefully the good thing that comes out of it is that GS will react more quickly to its customers demands.

I don't mind when things get delayed because they are trying to perfect it before getting it out. That is a good idea. But I do not believe that has been the only reason for all the delay. The HTML 5 and marketplace clearly have caused much delay. Don't get me wrong, they are cool. But I don't think they should have taken precedent over getting out of beta. It did make my face melt, but only because my blood was boiling that they spent valuable resources and time on that instead of pouring it into the engine.
My suspicion and hope is that they are getting close to releasing to the sous chefs a test version that will include some of the items on the roadmap but that they don't want to do an updated roadmap until they are ready to do so in case a particulat feature in it does not work out and then they have to backpedlle. It's also very clear from their posts that a number of items on the old road map are gonna get pushed. It will all come in good time, but based in their tenor I would not expect to much in the next update and would expect several if not many items to get pushed. Either wAy I am looking forward to it or at least more updates info. God's speed GS.
I understand it's been frustrating, waiting for an update to the road map. We're working with engineering to get a new estimate on all priorities so we can provide you with that exact information. At the same, they're also working their tails off trying to polish 0.9.7 and get it out to everyone.
Until we get the new estimates on all the features from engineering, our priorities remain as stated in the current Road Map, which has been updated to reflect features already delivered. Once we get the new estimates, we'll be able to give a proper update, reflecting what's being added and what's being pushed.
Thank you for your patience, and as soon as we have something, it will get posted.
--Yodapollo
They just want to make sure the info they give out is correct so they don't have everyone saying "well you said this feature would be out on this date and its not!!!". Give them a break, it will be out soon enough.

We were promised so many things, with one of them being better communication. Is that happening? Nope. The "ATTN: GS Upper Management" thread has yet to see a staff reply.

And this just goes to show why no-one listens to you. There's a big yellow post right in the middle of that thread, and it's been stickied.
wish there was a BLEEP sound for GS forum (censorship)

IDeveloper you have been warned for making false statements with no intent but to bash the tool and the company. Check your Messages. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you haven't seen it. This is your last warning.
Lauren posted on that thread and I believe is the one who made it a sticky. If your not gonna be constructive for the community your thoughts are not needed here. Last I checked you where a corona tool anyway.
did you even bother to read the sticky? Its only been a week. They said as soon as they had a time estimate they would let us know and till then the old roadmap still stands.
I mean come on people complain they want info then when infos givin they complain its not the info they want. Would you have rather them not have said that?
Dont get me wrong i think months without communication is unacceptable. But if yoda posts a week and says the old roadmap stands for now and there working to get a eta and dont have one yet, thats no reason to post every day asking.

yes I do read the sticky
the reason why I am asking is because I wish the GS team can say something like the update is almost done or is still not passing the QA team etc
@John: Its been a week since we've been told they're "working on it". But its been TWO MONTHS since we were promised a update on the Roadmap.
ONE MONTH AGO: "LaurenSalad Head Chef
Hello!
First of all, a BIG thank you to everyone for the feedback and general excitement about our roadmap and what we see as the future of GameSalad. We consistently try our best to incorporate your feedback and prioritize development accordingly. Our hope in providing a roadmap is that you’ll have a good sense of our priorities for the year and an approximate timeframe for when you can expect them to be available.
With that said, we are excited to provide you with an updated roadmap within the next couple of weeks.
We look forward to sharing more with you soon!
Thanks!

"Next couple of weeks" is not a friggin' month! Actually, its been TWO MONTHS since we were told Yoda was updating the roadmap!
I'll get on updating the roadmap. I was hoping to make the page a little more splashy, but that's going to have to wait.
We've got a big release coming in June and that should include a number of items that were originally slated for Spring as well as the first batch of summer features.
--Yodapollo 2 months ago# Quote"
I haven't been spreading false information, as its clearly been TWO MONTHS since we have been promised an update on the roadmap. A ROADMAP SHOULDN'T TAKE TWO+ MONTHS TO UPDATE!!! (I could update it in a WEEK!)
Those "oh we're working on it" posts don't count as new information as WE ALREADY KNOW IT. Its almost fall, and guess what? NO SUMMER RELEASE what so ever! You forum members are clearly brainwashed. I'm getting tired of people when they say "oh, GS doesn't support X feature". Well, if anyone of you were smarter, then you would learn to code, which AIN'T THAT HARD. As TShirt puts it: "It isn't the SDK, its you". (thus, if you come back to GS whining about how hard coding is, then you don't want to learn)
With coding you can do SO MUCH MORE. (social networking, IAP, iOS device features, Game Center, etc). Also, what happens if GS closes down? Because you didn't learn coding, your "out of the job".
last time i checked your one of those people that said they left gamesalad to code, but yet never did and keep using gs. You said you left to code 6 months ago. So apparently your not one of the "smarter" people you mentioned
So ill just add this to the list of BS posts from you
What's so FUNNY about being told two months ago "we're working on an update" and repeated "oh they're working on it"? This is not professional.
Oh, and just because I post/complain doesn't mean I use the product! (such a stupid assumption)
"So I'll just add this to the list of BS threads from you" --- YOUR CLEARLY BRAINWASHED AND DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH! If you arrived in reality, your head would explode.
Also, I said TWO MONTHS since Yoda announced the so-called "update".

what he says isn't all non-sense.. but oh well. who am i to say anything haha. seems like he's a goner. the only thing that didn't make sense is that he doesn't use GS. i mean why bother complain if it doesn't effect him.

Exactly. Of course everyones free to speak there minds opinions ect on the topic, without fear of ban. Just wanna make that clear. This is about is 200th gamesalad bashing post from him and as he says himself does not touch gamesalad at all anymore, so hes just spamming.
Once all the mods have seen this well clean all that out the thread to not cause clutter and off topic postings.
