This is the second version of the thread where we can all summarise the top 5 things to give GS management an idea about what we're really wanting.
A few groundrules:
1. Only post once
2. Please only post your top 5 features that are most important to you
3. Don't go into a rant - bullet points only (for ease of reading)
4. Don't reply to others posts - please keep the thread clean so its easy for GS management to read without getting lost in arguments and discussions
Thanks for your help, and please tell everyone you know who's using GS to post in here so GS know what its customers want.
Thanks
Mick

1. In app purchases
2. Arrays / Tables - so I can make more in depth games like RPG's, simulations
3. More QA so releases aren't full of bugs which slow us down, or stop me from releasing games
4. Performance, performance, performance. Simple games are still way too slow.
5. Pixel collision.
Thanks
2. Tables & Arrays
3. Universal iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch
4. More Stringent QA
5. Free Bowl Boy Hat With Every Pro Membership
Ace
2.GC ACH
3.ARRAYS
4.CONVERT TO ANY KING OF CODE
5.3D
2. Universal Builds
3. Pixel Collision
4. Performance
5. Um, did i say performance
2. An easier way to edit an actors attributes (even if it's just x and y values). Having to open up an actor to edit that stuff if a big workflow bottleneck. Surely just clicking on an actor and having it's attribute in a list down the side of the screen makes much more sense?
3. Pixel collisions. Or at leaset box2d custom collision shapes
4. Being able to control the loading wheel image/position etc.. it sometimes feels like it's a bit random it it apears top right, bottom right or wherever sometimes. Being able to specify where it appears, will aid in gui design for sure
5. Some new editor tools.. snap to grid..line up with other actors etc.
I understand the need to keep adding features, to bring in new devs and what have you. But If the engine and editor were kick ass/face melting, surely that's a better long term goal?
Sparks.
2. Universal builds.
3. Pixel collisions.
4. A way to edit actors attributes without having to open the actor.
5. Better testing of new builds: an internal game team and a handful of sous chefs have proven that more people should be involved; those who actually use the tool everyday have more probabilities of finding bugs (the amount of bugs found on the first day builds are released should be a big enough proof).
6... Do we really have to stop at 5?
1. Preview to open in a separate window … behaving like an !Alert! … absolute focus; close it to get rid of it … maintain my state!
2. Complete redesign of GUI 3. Increased imageSize import … at least 2048x2048
4. mouse X,Y display in sceneEditor
5. More Fonts … 58 native fonts in iOS … please, MarkerFelt.
MH
2. Performance
3. Joints
4. Ability to select more then one actor at a time while working in the creator(ex. cmd select or window select)
5. GC Achievements
2. some sort of universal build that's not 2x
3. more interface improvement,. basically look at what adobe is doing for their illustrator/photoshop/aftereffects(especially aftereffects) and this area has lots of features , rules/ grid/actor selection, lock/unlock layers, increase image size import etc, more typefaces (especially clear display). etc
5.still thinking about this...
(lastly quick fix.
macappstore://itunes.apple.com/app/idxxxx?mt=12
for hyperlink detection, seems like mac app store development is coming to a halt and not thought of anymore, it's still making money!)
2) IAP
3) Tables
4) Universal Apps
5) GC Achievements
2. Joints
3. GC Achievements
4. Performance
5. Custom Collision
A Performance Analyzer would be fantastic. If us GS users could see where we're overloading the processor we'd probably bother you a little less about performance issues. The cherry on top would then be if we could step through the cycles so we could better see how/in what order things are being called.
2. Increase performance (more fps)
3. Custom Collision
4. An easier way to edit an actors attributes (even if it's just x and y values). Having to open up an actor to edit that stuff if a big workflow bottleneck. Surely just clicking on an actor and having it's attribute in a list down the side of the screen makes much more sense?
5. Video
Shadows Peak is an atmospheric psychological horror that explores the dark side of a player.
2. iAds or In-app-purchase for free users (free users need to make some money from free games)
3. Either no more free or pro and bring in a publishing tax ($40 per app) or free can't publish and its $70 for year and free gets in app and iAd
4. GET RID OF THE SPINNING LOADING ICON!!!!
5. more behaviours
2.. Improve performance, it sucks
3.. Select multiple actors in creator for moving, copying and pasting
4.. Organise resources into folders in creator
5.. stop adding new features until you fix the broken ones already in there.
2.be able to zoom in the editor
3.performance
4.GC achievments
5.chocolate chip muffins
Ace
Anyhoo:
1. Ability to upload files larger than 150mb. I should have put this in caps, so strongly do I feel about it (as does Stormy and others, I know). My experimental multimedia app is over 400 at the moment although I haven't optimised it yet, but even then, it'll still be more than 250mb, let alone 150...
2. Transitions as behaviors
3. Tables/arrays
4. More refined type display (I still haven't seen text via GS on an iPad yet, would you believe, I hear it's not up to scratch. Anyone confirm or deny this please?)
5. A round of applause with calls of "About blinkin' time" when I finally get my first app on the app store.
6. There is no 6.

2. Custom collision shapes
3. Being able to use the device's camera function
4. Tables
5. Snap to grid
I have an idea for a new game/application that can only be made if these five features are available, and I'm sure that this game/application will make Gamesalad proud.

2. Pixel Collision
3. Snap to isometric grid
4. GC Achievements
5. Export to any code
2. Arrays / Tables
3. Python API for creating Rules (A guy can wish can't He)
4. Access to Microphone, Save sounds, email sounds
5. OpenURL attributes for custom URLs that have /?email=foo&malinglist=true
- in app purchase
- performance
- folders for actors (more organisation)
- grids, guides, snap to, more visual work space (these are all kinda connected so I make them one)
- Pixel collisions would be awesome!
- Joints... Scare me because all you genius's will make even more epic games!
Pro Feature - Something that does all the game submitting stuff for you, like prov files and all that stuff.
Just dumbs it down totally so, one click and all you gotta do is type in your games info for the buyers and choose your screens. I'd love that!
- Ram recycler... Would love to just Keep having millions of anims in the one scene. Seriously. I want that more then anything! But you would expect games over 100mb off me quite often then
Thanks! This is my Christmas wish list btw so I hope it comes true ..
2. Table/Arrays
3. Zoom/Snap/XY Position in Scene Editor
4. Performance
5. I like the idea of a performance/step analyzer - basically something to show exactly what is happening (and all attribute values) at each click. Putting in debugging steps is a little too time consuming (I still use display text..heh). I spend a lot of time trying to figure out very, very odd little problems with the order of actions firing a 10th of a second before or after another one.
And.. umm.. thank you! I'm an iPhone app developer because of Gamesalad!

Drag image 0 over to the 0 actor then 1 to 1 etc etc etc.....
Plus options to change the font on certain scores.
Simple enough right? xD
1. improvements in performance of course (and I know this is being worked on)
2. the loading spinner really bugs me. looks horrible and its not even aligned to its grey box properly - yuk. So the ability to turn it off per game or scene would be awesome.
3. a better navigation system. when moving through game, scene, actors, layers - remember the breadcrumb trail so clicking back goes to the previous nav panel.
4. interpolating alpha has always looked a bit strange to me. if interpolating alpha to 0 the final bit seems to be a jump to transparent rather than being smooth like the rest of the interpolation. Same with going the other way to alpha=1. last bit seems to jump to solid colour. can this be tweaked/improved please?
5. spawn has another input field "layer" - so that an actor in the bottom layer can spawn an actor to the top layer etc - can't count how many times this would have been helpful.
Very basic requests, not asking for anything new. But when the current platform is very very stable would be great to have new features like joints, if it doesn't impact negatively on the already shaky (sometimes) performance.
