Heh, if Pro comes back... even at $1,999 per year... many GameSalad developers will cheer. And if anyone complains about the price, people will just point to this thread and say something like, "You're lucky to have the opportunity to pay that much. Now shut up and get back to making games."

If anyone complains about that I'll be the first to B-slap em! (gently of course)

That stuff can be added later... especially if everyone is forced to choose between GameSalad Direct® or Pro. A lot more developers would go Pro than before. That's a lot of money for developers.
Right now the only choice appears to be... GameSalad Direct® or leave.
@all I just got Corona, and I am not a programmer, and have no real day to day experience in making code line by line. At first I was confused as to what to do, but after one hour of farting around with this terminal and this editor, I did the obligatory hello world app, Now two hours later I have actors (images) on the screen with collision detection and movement and even a few buttons, so what. Corona other than missing the graphic drag and drop is just about as easy as GS, and what GS sort of hides from the front end, Corona exposes it and you get total control. I am not saying its better or worse, but it is different, but now I dont hate the idea of coding maybe I will when I move forward but, its looking like its no big deal
No slam against GS, but Corona is another tool in your tool box, but I will say this, I asked a question of them, and they responded in 3 hours, with a clear, and understandable answer. Now that is 10000000000% better than GS.
Check it out, I have no association with them and really want GS to be better and make it easier for me, but this waiting thing sucks rocks.
I've spent the last 24 hours working with Unity 3D and all I want to say is I feel stupid. SO STUPID for working with Gamesalad for as long as I did.
I see a lot of people on here screaming "MY BRAND" or "I'M AN INDIE DEVELOPER" or "BUILDING MY RESUME" and I hope that these people will go and spend some hours with these other platforms and not give up on what they want (if they really want that).
If you want to develop games for a living - go use a real piece of software. I feel bad sitting here talking down on Gamesalad, it was really good for what it did, but everyone on here at one point has complained about FUNCTIONALITY, FEATURES, or STABILITY. Guess what? These arent an issue other places.
Go do the work, go learn to do some simple coding (or don't even learn... just use the hundreds of examples of how to do stuff other people have online), and go make an awesome game. Make it 2D or 3D, make it realistic or artsy, make it online or not, but don't live by the limits of your software.
Gamesalad doesn't deserve to profit share. It simply isn't good enough of a program. Go use Unity.
While I respect tshirtbooth for what he's done on this program, and I respect his decision to stay, HE is the talented one, not Gamesalad, and I wish he would reconsider and move onto a platform that he could grow into, not grow out of.
It's awesome that a guy with wood and nails can make a shelf. What happens when you give that guy metal and power tools? Does he build a rocket?
Anyway. I implore you to download Unity (it's free) and play the demo that comes with the software. If it doesn't inspire you to make something better than what GS does, then maybe game dev isn't for you anyway.

Ha ha... that's a strong argument... as is the previous post by vegasmike1.
Perhaps after I finish playing with iBookstore, I can take a look at Corona. I keep putting it off because I so do hate to code.

Maybe that's the whole strategy all along...maybe it's a ruse to convince more folks to buy the Pro version.
I'd definitely buy the pro at $1999 when it's out of beta, unbuggy and with a proper complete editor, with grid snapping, multiple drag and drop of actors, proper zoom feature and has arrays. Until then, I'd need to see a roadmap showing those, if I were to consider buying it without them already incorporated.
I was actually looking at purchasing pro over the next month or 2, so I could use some of the pro features for the game Im currently working on, but was holding off, to see how many of my wish list items were going to be added in the next build with the newly written scene graph.
the recent events have seriously dented my trust in Gendai/GameSalad though..... and lost me as a future customer if they stick to their guns on the new system.
we need to make somewhere that the GS community can talk about their projects using new software. Would love to see what you guys are doing when you get your hands on a better engine.
And you know what else pisses me off? KNOWING there is a problem and NOT releasing a simple update to fix the issue at hand.
Meanwhile the forums at one point were screaming "fix the memory leak". Did they? They STILL have not released the fix, instead they are doing another upgrade.
I bet the memory leak is still there when the new version is released.

That is unprofessional.
Not to mention not releasing updates for 3+ months. I get it's a BETA, but isn't that the goal, to release as many updates so we can find bugs before v1.0 is released?
I bet the memory leak is still there when the new version is released.
I was wondering this the other day.
You guys want this company to publish your games? A company that cant publish their OWN software well? A company that can't fix problems even when it's just the 3 of them and one product? What happens when there are 1000 products? 5000? 1000,000? Do you think an issue you're having with your game is going to EVER get addressed?

Especially when GameCenter has been out for WEEKS, and it's STILL NOT implemented? There goes that Gold Rush, just like with the Retina display. The moment the Retina display was announced GS should have released a update including that. No wonder GS has all the hate.

GS this is my brand
DeMentid Apps
Don't take it away or add your name to it in the app store
I would be forever grateful if they do!
Here's to hoping that things will change for the better, or they offer options. I think it's a no-brainer.
We can only dream now can we

300 or 400 it's a fair price. I don't care about de GameSalad Logo, iAds, etc. I just wanna my games under my brand!!!!!!!

Good timing.
Congrats, maybe I'll check out corona also before I get too deep into Unity.

Try www.gsProForum.com
There are global threads there for you if you like to use to talk openly about using other tools "in conjunction" with GS.

Daydreams, my friends. Daydreams.
Take control. Get Unity/ Corona.
Why ride a bike when you can get a car?
@synthesis
Thanks!

Keep is classy, Gamesalad.
Looks like it will be good. Just signed up!
Looks like they are now censoring any and all references to other platforms.
See you all over at iJWMSG!!!
