How exactly are you going to make a better game with this feature?
  • EastboundEastbound Member, BASIC Posts: 1,074
Well in his defense, he didn't say it would make a better game (at least not in this thread).

I'd love to see this feature, but it's really only useful in monetizing an already superb game. Like the iAd release, I think any younger members who haven't seen success yet will be disappointed if they are expecting IAP to deliver it.

Lets just make an example, you have 1 character running killing zombies, for only 99 cents you can change that human player into a robot, a alien, etc

what this does is make us more money thus gives gamesalad more members.

If you're expecting people to make an IAP for a character skin, I think you should definitely rethink your approach. If you can't make a couple of thousand dollars off of a stand alone game, IAP should be the farthest thing from your mind.

Lol :) The only thing I could see IAP good for is releasing a free game, and using IAP to purchase new features to make the game better. But you definitely don't NEED it to make a good game. Honestly, when I am browsing through the App Store and I tap on an app and see "Top In App Purchases", I skip it and go onto the next one because 9/10 times it means you don't get the full app. You just get some crappy demo and you gotta pay for every little thing. I realize their are apps out their that don't do this, but like almost every good thing on the App Store, a few idiots can ruin it for all of us.

In time we'll have data to back up theories. Let's just wait it out.

I want it now! I Also really need it! Not for better Games, is for better monetization strategy.
  • SkyMapleSkyMaple Member Posts: 817
No you guys don't NEED it. Just calm down and wait for the summer release. No point in rushing them, if you do then it will probably be real buggy and then you'll be complaining about that.

I will use IAP for my game, there will only be a button when you download it(the game is free), and it will say"play the game for 0.99" or something like that

because hacking ipas are to easy now,

Im sure if you do that you will get horrible reviews for lying to people and wasting their time thinking they are downloading a free app.

I would use it to make a home screen and make one game there that's available for play and two others beside it that cost 99cents

But the games would infect have to be using the same images

    Something like epigs!
  • JamieOneilJamieOneil Member Posts: 877
It will not make your games better.
But it could stop people cracking it.

It will most likely be a Pro feature ?

And i don't think it is something that is needed now.
They spend a lot of time giving us Gamecenter, now we can wait for other things.

OMG!!!! ....I can't believe how 37% say we DON'T need in-app purchasing yet!

    Are you guys insane???

We needed IAP about 6 months ago.. Its far more important than even HTML5. Its no wonder hardly anyone using GameSalad has made much money. Everybody's too busy trying to make the next Angry Birds or Tiny Wings and trying to sell it for a dollar and think thats it!

Look at the the charts data today. The top 10 Grossing USA Games are currently:

    1 - Farmville - has in-app purchasing
    2 - Angry Birds - has in-app purchasing
    3 - Cars 2 - doesn't have in-app purchasing
    4 - Top Girl - has in-app purchasing
    5 - Texas Poker - has in-app purchasing
    6 - Zynga Poker - has in-app purchasing
    7 - Tap Zoo - has in-app purchasing
    8 - Tiny Tower - has in-app purchasing
    9 - We rule Deluxe - has in-app purchasing
    10 - Fashion Story - has in-app purchasing

So 9/10 top 10 grossing games right now in the USA have in-app purchasing.

So even though Cars 2 at the moment is the best selling paid game on iTunes, its still not making more money than zynga's free game with in-app purchasing. Grossing means makes the most money. And don't get me started on game piracy, even Apple recently said IAP helps prevent piracy.

I'm not saying that IAP alone will make a good game, but THAT WASN'T THE QUESTION!!
The question is do we need this feature as a developer (And make money) and the answer is YES! :-)

I disagree. Most of them apps would have done well without IAP.

When i buy an app i don't like to buy more things in the game. I like to buy the game, and only pay for one thing.

No disrespect, but what the Grossing Data above shows is that the Majority of iPhone users Do like to get the game for Free and then buy items in it...

I understand you don't like it, but the majority of people with an iphone do according to the data.

I simply want IAP in Game Salad to give us creators parity with the other ways of making games. GameSalad is a tool, not a gatekeeper. (not saying they are a gatekeeper, just that some of the above replies are implying it should be) Some of you don't want to use iap, some do. GS should (and will) give us the option soon, Pro version or not.

ahhhh yes, my condition of making games and helping people ALL day. LOL

see your the one whos predictable, theres tons of people on the forum like you. You make no games, never help ANYONE on the forum, but complain about the stupids little things, like what tendrmer does is gonna make you cry at night.

No point of dragging this on, but people like you are a waste of forum space.
