if anybody claims they can make a game in 5 minutes then that's why people have an issue with rubbish coming out of Game Salad. A 5 minute game is a concept and will always be just that. A real game takes time to create and polish up up to release standard.
I use another language up to now and although the concept games can be created in a very short time at no point would we ever state they were finished. No matter how much fun they seem.
Of course the post stating that was more than likely just taking the mickey and not a serious answer like many of the points made here in this thread.
If your serious about game development even in Game Salad then make sure you take the time to polish your game and make it the best it can be with your current skill set.
Only problem is that it will take 8 minutes to load on the device and require 8 MB of overhead space...where corona will be about 800 KB and load in .8 seconds.
But I agree...there is no match to GS's simplicity, rapid creation and ease of use. My primary complaints have always been overhead and performance. Now a third issue has developed with their Terms of Service. I was willing to be patient on overhead and performance but forced publishing is a deal-breaker...for me as well as many others.
T-shirt, that's brilliant...Cheeky offending the poor little people over at Corona...but brilliant.
Whether it's a valid rival for Star Daze I'm not so sure.
(I really need to get on making another game...can someone please add 3 hours to my day)...
- Also as a note on GS Direct, I'm now really looking forward to it. To have access to all the pro features without paying for them (directly). Not worried about revenue sharing as I'm sure they will choose a rate that does not put developers off.
I may even make a different lite version of Quake Builder (rework it and rebrand it) and try it out on GS direct with extra functionality and link to my current paid version...(If that's allowed).
I have been reading this post and all I can say is WOW! If I have been reading correctly GS want us to upload OUR games we spent HOURS creating onto THEIR name under itunes? Well thats BS.
And then they want to take a cut of the profit after apple take 30%?
And what about all the new game designers with their 5 minute games that are rubbish, the GS name will be bad and that will put people off buying my apps.
I'm wondering if the GameSalad office is now like the Pit of Despair scene from the Princess Bride. The team looks at the pages in this thread and says...

You know what, I am getting sick of the sous chefs. They need to get real. "welcome to last week." Please. We still have zero answers. So quite ripping on people that want them.

Calm down mate - there's a bloody big smiley face on the end of it. I wasn't 'ripping' on anyone.
Oh no, we're starting to turn on each other. Let's just have a drink and forget about it heh? Besides, we all know who the real enemy here is right? Yeah, the damned aliens. They're everywhere! They come here, stealing our belly fluff. Oh it makes me so mad. Ye know?

Looks good, GS is definitely quicker for simple things.
Good job it didn't go for 8 minutes though or GS would have slowed down to the speed of my granny and locked out the computer.
You had enough time left over to add Facebook integration!
Oh...

Nice demo though!
Still, I think they should keep a pro, or self publish system...
